3 out of 5 eggsok mobo, incompatibility issues of Realtek sound

Pros: It is ok motherboard, it works.

Cons: the realtek components are in general poor. It's difficult to find drivers for them.

1. The realtek soundcard has awkward interface. It is incompatible with Avid Media Composer (Avid does not see the card). There's a way around it, but due to the weird interface, you don't have ability to control that functionaity in Vista.

Adobe Premiere sees the card, but it looses audio all the times. I tried to install different audio drivers (newer, older), change the audio settings, etc. The errors remained.

Since removing the motherboard is a pain, I'll go ahead and buy an additional audio card.

2. The realtek nic was hard to find drivers over the net.

3. When I tried to install 4 PCI cards, it won't boot. They couldn't initialize. One reason is that the Geforce onboard takes a lot of memory and there's not much left for the other PCI cards to initialize.

4. The mobo locks the SATA HDDs so I could use those for plugging multiple HDDs for my low-level needs.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't use this mobo for my needs and had to spend additional money on other components (after spending money on additional cables).

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job!

Pros: Pretty much your standard MB...no complaints! Bios makes OC'ing a breeze in addition to the physical motherboard mounted OC switch panel. The switch panel alone made Oc'ing easy enough...I only used the bios to set RAM timings and voltages in addition to adjusting FSB and cpu multiplier.

Cons: Need to replace parrallel port and serial port with USB

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Great board, good layout, low cost.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've build a few systems for friends including some done with msi p965 (wife), p35 (me), p45 (3 friends) mobo and now this p43 (new built)...all works good and they are great for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard

Pros: Cheap, able to overclock E7200 to 3 GHZ. Support for 1600fsb. More than enough SATA ports. The BIOS on this thing is really impressive, easy to navigate.

Cons: None in 6 months

5 out of 5 eggsMy review shouldn't have been so late

Pros: 8 SATA ports, gigabit lan, incredible price!

OC'd my Q6600 to 3.4 ghz on air, with 8 gigs of ram, while being perfectly stable. My last board, a GA-P35-DS3-L could barely run at 3.1 ghz stable with only 2 gigs of ram, maybe it was a bios version issue? The board newegg shipped to me has the 2nd latest bios version which just absolutely impressed me, if I could give 6 eggs I would. Also A LOT more voltage adjustment options in this bios over my P35 board, lots more ram timing options, gives you in-bios speed settings for the 3 fan headers (CPU, sys fan 1, fan 2).

Also, received the motherboard in 2 days, thank you Newegg!

Cons: Bios doesn't give multiplier adjustment options, has rather basic rear panel inputs, 4 USB on the back, no optical or RCA audio inputs like my last board, the board I received is PCB version 1.1 which obviously has a very different cooling solution for the board's components (no heatpipes just standard but very good sized heatsinks). I'm not really put off by that very much. I have a Thermaltake spirit II chipset cooler I put on the north bridge anyway.

Other Thoughts: This board is another reason why MSI has been my source for reliable components for more than 5 years. This is once again as rock solid as my last build which was with an Athlon 2400+ XP cpu on the K6-T Delta, that ran for 4 years until I built my quad system.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent budget board

Pros: +Price
+Supports Core 2 Quads, I'm running mine with a 9550
+Overclock jumper might be useful to those who have processors that run at a lower FSB
+Supports asynchronous RAM/FSB clock ratio
+Support for TPM module
+Heatsinks on MOSFETs

Cons: -"Heat pipe" is not a pipe at all, just a solid piece of aluminum
-None of the heatsinks are copper, actually, they're just painted aluminum

Other Thoughts: MSI's Core software for overclocking and monitoring is fair. The motherboard has been rock solid, even with moderate overclocking.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap..

Cons: Random freezes, BSODs, random reboots, but most of all horrible tech support. I've been "working" with their technical support since July 8th. Keep saying it was bad memory or memory running at wrong voltage etc etc etc. Memory from other system (which works fine) produces the same results.. BSOD, FREEZES ETC..

Other Thoughts: It's upsetting since this was the 4th MSI board i've purchased....
