Solid True CrossFire Mobo
- Pros: It has a very nice layout, with side facing SATA/IDE connectors (very handy). On-Board OC options are nice to have although most OC are still going through the BIOS directly. Solid State Capacitors are really great for longevity purposes. True 16x pipes for my dual 4890's.
Very nice fit in my Antec 300 case.
- Cons: Had some freezing issues when installing Windows 7. Flashed the bios, and everything was good. Knocked off an egg. Still great though
awsome
- Pros: I plugged everything and off i went i havent built a pc in 7 years with alot of reading i built i good pc i think
- Cons: havent found any
- Other Thoughts: i built a am3 system consisting of:
msi 790fx gd70 phenom II x4 965 BE 2 ati 5770 crossfired 8g corsair 1600 ram 2 500gb HDD in a thermaltake ve2000 armor case watercooling cpu 2 gpu 3 radiators and 2 pumps
Great Board
- Pros: - Good features for the price.
- Stacked SATA ports. These horizontal ports are the way to go with the length of modern VGA cards. I have no problem connecting flat SATA cables to them, not sure why someone said the lack of 90 degree SATA cables was a problem.
- Plenty of room in between the 2 PCI-E x16 slots.
- Looks nice, as motherboards go.
- Diagnostic lights and push-botton power and reset switches on the board are a nice touch.
- Pin connectors are well spaced.
- Has some nice over-clocking features that I will not use.
- So far (one week in) the board is running beautifully. It runs with - AMD Phenom II 955 (3.2GHz) ATI HD5870 8.0 GB DDR3 1333 MHz G.Skill DRAM Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Black Corsair HX 750 Watt PSU Antec 902 case
- Cons: - I am very disappointed that the retail box board did not come with a MSI sticker. :( Where's the sticker, MSI?
- The 2 ESATA ports are right in the path of the second x16 PCI-E slot, meaning with two big video cards installed they will probably be blocked. I only have a single 5870 in there now so it is not a problem yet. Seems like they could have been moved just a bit.
- Other Thoughts: Great board for the price. Does not have some high end features like SATA 2.0, but I will not be using that any time soon so it is no concern to me. I also have an MSI X-58 with a Core i7 and it is also a good price/performance board. Haven't had any problems with MSI, other than the lack of stickers. :|

Introduction
Get affordable computing performance with MSI's 790FX-GD70 motherboard. Based on AMD's 790FX and SB750 chipsets, this ATX form-factor board is designed to support the latest AM3 Phenom II processors. With DrMOS OC technology. Instead of discrete MOSFETS and a Driver IC, DrMOS integrates all three into one package that takes up less space, uses less power and is much more power efficient.
Dominate your applications and games with up to 16GB of DDR3 memory fitting into four 240-pin slots with dual channel support and 2600 MHz Hyper Transport technology for increased performance. Onboard Gigabit Ethernet LAN means that you can connect to other networked devices without running into a bottleneck.
Four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards can be mounted for cutting-edge graphic power with support for quad ATI CrossFireX. Eight 3Gb/s SATA connectors give you the ability to store massive amounts of data locally with several RAID configurations possible for extra security and high-speed performance, and an eSATA port provides the same capabilities for an external drive. Seven USB 2.0 ports give you additional options in connecting and expanding your system.
