Get ready for a totally new overclocking experience that you've never had before! Based on Intel’s X58 and ICH10R chipsets, this Micro ATX form-factor board is designed to support the latest Core i7 processors.
The DrMOS delivers a high quality power transfer to bring you a stable overlocking environment for future upgrades in processor capabilities. No application limitation of graphics cards, the MSI X58M Intel motherboard allows you to apply NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFire Multi-GPU technology according to your needs. Onboard Gigabit Ethernet LAN means that you can connect to other networked devices without running into a bottleneck.
Two PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics cards can achieve CrossFire-linked performance at a fraction of the price. Seven 3Gb/s SATA connectors give you the ability to store massive amounts of data locally with several RAID configurations possible for extra security and high-speed performance and an eSATA port provides the same capabilities for an external drive. A half-dozen USB 2.0 ports give you additional options in connecting and expanding your system.

Gigabit LAN is ideal for supercharged seamless streaming of Internet audio and video content.
SATA II with RAID Support The second generation SATA interface delivers up to 300MB/sec transfer speed, doubling that of the first generation Serial ATA. The on-board seven SATA II ports support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 for better performance, enhanced data security, and flexible capacity upgrades.
DrMOS Technology With MSI's DrMOS Technology, the MSI X58M Intel motherboard features excellent energy-saving capability, offering a high-level of computing performance while maintaining an ultimate low system temperature.
Pros: Cheap price with loads of features. I don't think I need to say anymore. Just look at the specs.
Also, I cannot comment on the overclocking abilities yet. I'm still waiting for good deals on better coolers (using stock cooler ATM). Other than that, the board has been working exceptionally well under normal usage for at least a month now.
Cons: - Terrible application of thermal compound under the Northbridge heatsink. The heatsink is easy to remove. I recommend detaching it, cleaning it, and apply your favorite thermal compound to it. I also recommend attaching a 40mm fan on top of the heatsink (with zip-ties or sheathed wires) for added cooling if you don't mind a little increase in noise.
- The SATA ports are in an awkward position. My case is a SFF Sugo SG04F so I had to bend the SATA cables a little to fit. Not that big of a deal.
- I wished they included at least one more 4-pin fan header for better fan control. (The Rampage Gene II has all 4-pin headers.)
Other Thoughts: I was really hesitant to buy this board because of the mediocre reviews. But for the cheap price (in addition to a rebate), I went for it.
What's interesting about the particular packaged I received is that it contained a little more than the one advertised. When my x58m box came, I expected the box to be at least shrink wrapped, but I received it without one. The box was scratched and it felt a little flimsy, so I was afraid Newegg sent me an opened-box.
When I opened the box, I immediately noticed that in addition to a Cross-fire connector, I was also given an SLI connector. Upon inspecting the motherboard, I noticed that a heatsink was attached to the MOSFET. The preview images did not show that both of these things were included, and some of the reviews mentioned the lack of a heatsink for the MOSFET. Perhaps, MSI stepped up their game, and started to improve this board?

Rating: 1/5Freezes Randomly
Pros: Lots of good features at an affordable price.
Cons: Freezes Randomly. I've replaced component after component, increased cooling, reconfigured and reseated everything., and even reinstalled my OS. It just likes to freeze at random. I have to hit the reset button to get it to reboot the system revs up and just freezes. It's completely random and makes for a really unstable system. I've lost data and many hours of time plus lots of money trying to pin it down to this defective mother board.
Other Thoughts: Other users have had better luck with this board. I think I just got a lemon.

Rating: 2/5MSI=Mediocre
Pros: Thought the board was a good value, had the standard x58m specs (SATA 1-6, with raid, 24Mb max ram with triple data rate config, board start button, decent ddr3 ram settings (yes, 1333 works fine)). Also only 1 of 2 microATX LGA 1366 boards with intel x58 chipset on newegg...
Cons: It burned out after 1 week. Yes, my small footprint thermaltake box ran hot, but the i7 930 didn't, so there's not excuse for this. By the time i troubleshot this (after buying a new cpu AND gpu that i don't need!), my newegg 30 day return time was over.
Other Thoughts: MSI support? online they told me 'to return it to the reseller" despite the simple fact newegg wouldn't accept the return after 30 days. I now have a $170 piece of junk that will go in the trash. My new ASUS rampage gene II is amazing, buy that instead!

Rating: 5/5Great for the money
Pros: Can be over clocked easy enough just don't do it if you have a raid 5 (disk will drop out of raid if you do) Other than that it works quite well.
Cons: have a nvidia 260 in the first pci-e slot which covers the second pic-e slot
Other Thoughts: If I had to use 3 pci-e cards I would choose the larger msi 58x

Rating: 5/5Good board!
Pros: Had to return 2 gigabyte boards. This one worked right out of the box.
Cons: The SATA ports are in an awkward position. To plug in a SATA cable you have to use a tweezer or remove the board.

Rating: 4/5Good bang for the buck
Pros: - Good value for the included features. - Bios setup menu easy to use. - XMP support. - Overclocking made easy.
Cons: - Limited space. If you use a pci x16 slot, you automatically lost a pci x1 or pci x4 slot.
- No heatsink on the moffets like other motherboards.
Other Thoughts: If you only need a big cpu heatsink and one vga card, this board will do just fine. Otherwise do buy a micro atx.
