5 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Had this mobo for almost a year now. I have had no problems whatsoever. I havent had to upgrade the BIOS either. However, upgrading the BIOS is easy if need be. The OC genie is a nice feature; its "easy, on-the-fly" overclocking allows hassle free tweaking. Its works great with my i7 and other components and hopefully in the future I will crossfire when the time comes. I highly recommend a good cpu cooler before Oc'ing naturally.

Cons: No usb 3.0?

Other Thoughts: Raidmax case
CPU - i7-860 2.8ghz
GPU - Sapphire Radeon 5770 1 gb
RAM - 4 x 2 gb gb ram G.Skills 1600 ddr3 9-9-9-24-2n

5 out of 5 eggsOC genie tip

Pros: yes it has a one push button to overclock for you...but!

Cons: the OC genie over volts your cpu too high. that's why some people on here are getting 99c at idle. which is extremely dangerous for you computer. its also a little misleading because, yes can now be an overclocker but you still need to take in account that you need a after market heatsink. with out the proper cooling you will for sure kill your computer. so before you want to push the blue light up button i advise you get the cooling for it.

Other Thoughts: my other thoughts are: check out overclocking forums. learn how to do it yourself through the bios. you can get better results, lower temps and better performance doing it that way. people are always willing to help you out on them and it will be more fun because you are going more in-depth of your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent MoBo

Pros: MSI makes decent boards. Easy to install and the OC Genie is nice for beginners to over clocking.

Cons: Documentation left something to be desired. Initially had problems, but download the latest BIOS and drivers and all was better.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Easy to install. Looks great. Posted on first try, OC genie gave instant 700mhz overclock to my core i7-870.

Cons: Whoever at Intel designed the push-pin installation for the CPU heatsink should be drawn and quartered. Coming from Socket AM2 which required little more than a push of a lever, this was aggravating. Had to remount fan 4 times and spew a bunch of expletives before I got it right.

1 out of 5 eggsBig Question Mark?

Pros: Seems like a nice board and plenty of rave reviews on the net.

Cons: Cannot get any video card or cards to run stable on this board? Windows 7 comes up and then goes to black. Forget about SLI! Video, memory and other components run fine in another machine the only factor that changes is this motherboard--what a pain. Not sure about RMA since this is my replacement board from NewEgg. What is that high pitched whine coming from this beast -not even overclocked.

Other Thoughts: Really disappointed. Lots of time and effort down the drain. I am not sure about MSI for future purchases.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice board

Pros: One of the best motherboards I have probably ever owned. No tweaks or settings in BIOS needed at first boot, reported all attached hardware correctly and has so far operated flawlessly

Cons: All 3 SLI bridges included with my board were bad. Spent 2 days chasing my tail thinking it was driver or video card issue with SLI GTX460s, untill i happened a post on a message board suggesting that it was the bridges and that possibly MSI had been shipped a bad batch of them.
Dug out an old SLI GT7650 setup i had and used the 5 year old ASUS bridge from it and all the issues i was having went away.

Other Thoughts: Finding 3 bad SLI bridges was kind of a surprise to me, I can see 1 out of 3 but the odds of all 3 being faulty has to be pretty slim.
Otherwise I seeing everything that [H]ardOcp reported in their of this board. The fact that they gave this board a Gold Award was a big plus in this ones favor when I was looking for a base for my new computer.
If it hadn't been for bad SLI bridges I would have 5 starred it without hesitation

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued MSI Customer,
“Please contact MSI customer service representative Tom at tomh@msi.com, or call Tom at 626-913-0828 ext 216 with your case details which we will have the defective SLI Bridge replaced. Thank you.”
Best Regards,
Customer Service Team

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: The board's great! It has a few features that makes troubleshooting a breeze. Other than the one con that I mention I've had no problems with the board. Overall it's been the best board that I've had to date. I would recommend it to anyone. I'll be buying MSI again.

Cons: Only con I've come across so far is that the OC Genie feature is a bit... Well it just doesn't work well. I read the manual and the few times that I've tried it it's tried to OC my i5 750 so high that it runs at 99C idle... No thanks.

Other Thoughts: As a few other people have said, the RAM config seems to be a bit weird compared to 'normal' configurations, but then that's just a case of having to read the manual.

5 out of 5 eggsadd on to what i said

Pros: its legit

Cons: it wasnt free??

Other Thoughts: so there was this buzzing coming from my computer and at first i thought it was my PSU. but i found it was the mobo itself. when computer was idling or browsing the net there was this annoying buzz. after using my best friend Google, i found out it was and thing called "c1e" if your an overclocer you have to disable it anyways, but this is what was making it buzz. so if you get the buzz dont RMA it. go into the BIOS and disable it. problem solved. i was 2 hours away from taking it back, and found that info. so just giving you people a heads up. amazing mobo. works best with 64 bit OS.

5 out of 5 eggspretty darn good!

Pros: the lay out of the board is pretty solid. nothing is in the way of other ports or anything like that. the OC button is pretty smooth too. i have yet to try it out but i heard good things about it. higher end MSI boards are the only way to go.

Cons: not really a con but the ram set up is weird. instead of putting the ram in the first and third dimms (blue) they want you to put them in the 2nd and 4th dimm. i looked over and put them in the blue spot and the thing wouldnt start up. thought i had bad ram, UNTILL i looked at the manual.

Other Thoughts: the thing is with MSI is that there is a good board and a low budget good board. nothing in between. if you want to go with MSI you either get the most expensive one or you go with the lowest priced one. the others just suck.
