2 out of 5 eggsdissapointed

Pros: still working... kinda

Cons: SATA Hard drives will randomly disconnect, ive swapped cables tried different drives, same effect.
It will go from my main raided raptor drives disconnecting to my games drive or data drive normally only one at a time, restarting windows sometimes helps but most times i have to open my case and wiggle the cables to get the drives to work again

Other Thoughts: Fail on MSI design part

5 out of 5 eggsBeats the knickers off my old mobo

Pros: good overclocking options, easy to install. Assembled and booted right up. no muss, no fuss.

Cons: It's a bit narrow, I'd like my memory a bit further from the cpu, but hey, I'd also like a robot pegasus.

Other Thoughts: if you're going to overclock, get yourself some mosfet coolers.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI 790x-G45 a great deal

Pros: Easy installtion. Easy to update BIOS from within Windows 7.

Cons: Issue with POST and video with KINGWIN 1000 PSU. Has same issue with MSI 870A-G54

Other Thoughts: Not many bells and whistles, but all the functionality is there to meet today's needs for computing and gaming.
Not sure why the PSU was an issue. Used it in another PC so nothing was wasted.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent board but bios issues

Pros: 90% of the time, everything runs smooth.
Good price off a shell shocker deal.

Cons: First off, these issues were before and after I flashed to the newest Bios.

Annoying Bios issues:
-Randomly resets the boot order and tries to boot off my secondary hard drive. Easy to change, but far from wife-friendly.
-Sometimes moving around the menus, keyboard presses get "stuck" and will fire repeatedly making it near impossible to change settings.

My fault:
Doesn't say memory can be OC'd to 1600, but others are saying they can. Mine locks up in the middle of gaming. Temps are fine. 2 of my friends have the same board/RAM and they can run 1600 with no issues.

Other Thoughts: Won't be keeping the board, BIOS issues are minor but highly annoying.

5 out of 5 eggseasy set up

Pros: I bought in a package deal at a great price.
Easy set up. plenty satas and lots of usbs . Well explained instructions in book. super easy overclocking if you into that.

Cons: none really.

Other Thoughts: Havent bought an MSI in years. There manual is drastic improvement over years past. Written so simply anyone can follow it. Put together 3 systems for friends in last few months and this was easiest yet.
System: athlon ii x640 , patriot 2x2 g ,windows 7

5 out of 5 eggsShell Shocker

Pros: Overclocking is capablities were good. Got my 3.2 to 3.55. The RAID works well. I have 2 X 1TB in raid 1, and a SSD as the primary boot.

Cons: I don't like the sata cable plug angle.

Other Thoughts: Got two of these on shell shocker. They were just sitting around waiting for other parts.

1 out of 5 eggsMy mistake

Pros: I contacted MSI as soon as I discovered the front panel header with no pins, they replied the next day. Explaining that there was another header "with pins" in another location. The one with the same identifier just very very small print. I commend MSI technical/customer support for their quick and patient response.

Cons: Can't say as time constraints haven't allowed the build.

Other Thoughts: Faith restored.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat Quality Control

Pros: none

Cons: Bought this board for an econo gaming rig I planned to give to a buddy. The build was going well until I attempted to plug in the front panel connectors. There were no pins in the board! All clearly labeled but nothing to connect to. I understand stuff happens, and have used MSI products for low $ builds in the past and had great luck with them.

Other Thoughts: Of the 60 plus builds I done int the past, this has got to be the most flagrant gross oversight I have ever encountered. One egg is more than this particular board deserves.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard upgrade

Pros: I bought this board to upgrade an aging socket 939 system. This board was a great choice. Easy setup and install. Great features for a mid-range budget build. Gives you plenty of options for future upgrades.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am a PC enthusiast on a budget. I bet some of you are as well. This MSI board allows you to buy mid range hardware with plenty of room to upgrade in the future. I put this board into a Cooler Master HAF 922 case with 4GB of ram; quad core processor; XFX HD video card; a pair of 500GB HDD and Win 7 Home. I read reviews extensively to make buying decisions and I hope this review helps.
