5 out of 5 eggsnice board

Pros: had it for 4 years, still works.

Cons: N. Bridge needs after market cooler. Was limited to ram slots (2 ddr2 and 2 ddr 3), but now, it's irrelevant with 8 gb sticks.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst MB EVER!

Pros: Crossfire support
Core Unlock support

Cons: No SLI Support

No DDR3 Support

HyperTransport sync flood errors since day one.

This board is so unstable it isn't even funny it will even crash from a dead idle

The board worked ok for a while under low load, but once i started gaming (after GPU came in) everything went downhill.

I get multiple BSOD's in a day

I updated all drivers, BIOS and still had the same results.

I tried swapping processors, video cards, power supplies etc. as well

I too will think long and hard before I buy another MSI mobo.

Other Thoughts: I'm a computer network engineer, i've built hundreds of systems over the years. but this is sad

MSI is about to get an ear full from me, and i will demand a replacement, a company hasn't truly been bi*ched out until they have been by me.. i get brutal. especially in situations like this where the issue is 100% totally their fault

1 out of 5 eggsJunk!

Pros: It was inexpensive.

Cons: The board worked well for the first two weeks then everything went downhill. I would get multiple BSOD's in a day, I updated all drivers, BIOS and firmware on every component in the system and still had the same results.

I tried swapping processors, video cards, power supplies etc., still no luck. I got so peeved that I tossed the thing in the trash.
I'll think long and hard before I buy another MSI mobo.

Other Thoughts: I replaced this junk with a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, which rocks!

My system specs are:
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz Socket AM3
Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB SATA 6.0Gb/s
PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 ****soon to be replaced****
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

5 out of 5 eggsNice motherboard..

Pros: Very stable motherboard
Good memory support
Decent performance
Have not had and HT sync flood errors

Cons: Only DDR2 memory. would be nice to be DDR3 or 2.

Other Thoughts: Some people posted problems saying they would never buy a MSI motherboard again. I have had more problems in the past with Asus boards. People quick to post blame on the board before completely researching the issue as the HT synce flood errors happen on Asus also and can be cost by a low quality powersupply not providing enough voltage to the cpu.

1 out of 5 eggsNever Again

Pros: Not much that I can see. Have had trouble from pretty much day one.

Cons: Hypertransport flood errors since day one. Memory voltage problems since day one. This thing has been nothing but trouble and I will never go with MSI again. Should have stuck to ASUS.

Other Thoughts: Kept it around thinking there might be some kind of BIOS update (there was but didn't help much) that would make this board usable. Boy was I wrong.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while

Pros: When the motherboard worked for the year I had it, it was perfectly fine. It had issues with raid, but I eventually sorted it out. The overclocking features are pretty decent. I did overclock my CPU, however I had to return it to stock due to heat problems. (I have a CPU that is known to have heating problems.)

Cons: The board is great, but it seems like MSI is pretty unreliable when it comes to support. You call them up and they run you through simple check tasks that I told the guy I have already done, yet they treat you like an idiot. Now unfortunately, I have to wait until Monday to try and talk to them again.

Other Thoughts: Well I bought an extended warranty just for this, hopefully I can get my money back or something.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect except for HT Sync Flood Error

Pros: Overall I have been happy with my purchase.
-Price is good
-Core unlock and OC ability are good
-layout is nice and simple
-DDR2 support is nice if you are upgrading and don't want to buy DDR3 memory

Cons: The only real con is the HyperTransport Sync Flood error. When I first unlocked the 4th core of my Athlon II and OC'd it, I thought it was a problem with the OC or the chip's 4th core.

Tested & confirmed that was not the case - it is definitely a mobo problem independent of my CPU OC or core unlock.

It only happened when the system would come out of hibernation, however. I disabled hibernation (running Win 7 x64), and have not had the problem again in almost a year.

Don't hibernate your system and you might be fine.

Other Thoughts: I bought this mobo about a year ago as a cheap upgrade to an old pentium 4 system. I dropped an Athlon II x3 440 into it and was instantly able to unlock the 4th core and OC to 3.3 Ghz on stock cooling. Plugged in my 4 GB of DDR2-800 and it works fine running windows 7 home premium x64.

A year later, the lack of DDR3 hurts more than I had thought when I bought it - I didn't anticipate DDR3 modules dropping so much in price. No SATA 6Gb/s and no USB 3.0 will also be problematic in the future I imagine.

However, I am happy with the purchase - it was a nice cheap upgrade to an old system, and in another year or two I can just buy another cheap board with more modern tech on it.

HT Sync flood error is annoying but since it can be avoided, it hasn't really bothered me.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Amazing MB, Running a 9850 Ocd to 2.7ghz stable i got the sync flood error a few times, moved my video card and havnt had it since, maybe some people need to learn how to troubleshoot, sometimes flukes happen.

Cons: Mosfet isn't cooled, happens, but to be honest, it doens't heat up.

Other Thoughts: Buy it if you cna great mobo i got mine for 60$.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well...sometimes.

Pros: Easy to set up - decent BIOS controls. Good placement of ports/plugs on the board.

Cons: The northbridge runs HOT even in a well ventilated case. WILL NOT support X6 CPUs with 125 TDP even though it's "supported". Running Prime95 or Linpack will cause the VRMs to run dangerously hot (not just uncomfortable hot...nearly bursting into flames / failing hot). This is a design flaw in the board and cannot be remedied with a BIOS update.

Other Thoughts: If you're running a dual/tri/quad core and not overclocking at all you'll be fine with this board. If you're expecting to overclock a quad...don't. If you want to run an X6 at all...don't.

Good board otherwise.
