3 out of 5 eggsPoor Board

Pros: Installed nicely
Decent price
No hardware compatibility issues

Cons: BIOs upgrade issues

Other Thoughts: I really liked this board for the first 6 months of use or so, but then I upgraded the BIOs using the MSI software (found on their website) and found that my computer would end up freezing randomly from time to time. No explanation for it. Tried playing with the BIOs settings and that didn't fix it either. Going to try a new motherboard...

5 out of 5 eggsWrong sound driver

Pros: Easy to overclock and cheap !
Full ATX makes it easy to work on.
Has all the features that i need.

Cons: Lost about 2 hours to figure out why i didn't had any sound with windows 7...the audio drivers wheren't the right one on took the generic drivers from realtek.

Other Thoughts: This is my 7th MSI motherboard !! MSI rules !

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works right out of the box with my old 20 pin and p4 plug supply. Good legacy support with 2 ps2 ports, 3 PCI slots, a floppy and IDE port. Easy enough to figure out BIOS. Video performance from the I3-550 chip I put in it was better than I thought it would be. I got to reuse a lot of my old stuff on this new build.

Cons: They really should give you the parallel port cable since the header on the board is proprietary. Does not O.C. well. Crossfire cable was not included. Printed documentation is bad, but the manual from the web site is nice. Drivers are out dated but the web has updates.

Other Thoughts: Could have used a Dvi port above the VGA port. Firewire, USB 3, and sata 6 would have been nice to, but what do you want from a sub $100 board.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent motherboard for the price

Pros: this board is a very good board . i have nothing but good luck with it sence i got it . easy to get around bios and yes setup . and people saying this board can not be crossfired. but i hade to try any way and got say there wrong i crossfired this board my frame rate went thur the roof. on 3d marks i was getting 35 fram at low end and 80 fram on high end . i am runing two gigabyte 3670 hd and i i5 4 ghz of gskill ram . it realy fast and the other thing they saying is no raid . well i found out differnt there is raid . i runing it and it take about 5 to 10 secound to load a map on battlefield bad company 2 with everthing turned up and runs smoth.

Cons: i hade no probblem with this board . it possible because i dont believe in overcloaking . if i want to go fast i just buy a new cpu or faster vidio card LOL .

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Price vs performance is the best feature of this board. Plenty of USB ports & SATA ports for future expandability. Fairly robust overclocking features in the BIOS, though there are better boards for this. Reliable, easy to setup, and great company backing. I've used a few MSI boards over the years, and they consistently put out high quality boards. If you're looking for a great basic mobo, whether it be for gaming or productivity, this board is a great deal for the dollars.

Cons: No RAID or SLI/Crossfire [second PCI-E lane is 4x].

Other Thoughts: In response to the review below mine: Seriously, who expects a dual video card setup from a board for under $100 [or an Intel H55 chipset for that matter lol]? And to complain about OC'ing when your proc is OC'ed to nearly 4GHz on a STOCK cooler??? Take the $$$ you saved getting this board and buy an aftermarket HSF if you want to OC. And don't claim "somewhat high" PC knowledge when you're expecting a dual VGA 4GHz+ machine with a board you paid less than $100 for.

On a side note: built a budget PC with this board for a friend, and it runs beautifully with an i5-750 @ 3.6Ghz with a CM Hyper 212+ HSF (HIGHLY recommended @ $30 here on newegg) assembly and a GF GTX 465.

2 out of 5 eggs2nd pci-e runs at 4x

Cons: 1) 2nd PCI-E slot runs at 4x only - WARNING! Do not crossfire this board!

^ I guess this was my fault for not going to the MSI website to see the detail specs I should have known that it was 16x/4x, I was hoping for 8x/8x FML.

2) 1st PCI-E slot covers CMOS battery so if you want to reset motherboard you first must remove vidcard what a pain!

3) 4 sata ports are on the side just barely above first PCI-E slot, it's very difficult to maneuver around.

4) Delay power up boot is annoying, from when you push the pwr button to when the system actually turns on is a 1sec delay.

5) OC this system was a pain I wold not recommend using this system to attempt to OC.

Other Thoughts: Mobo: MSI H55-G43
CPU: I3 530 OC'd 3.96ghz on stock cooler
Ram: OCZ Reaper 8gb DDR3 1333mhz OC'd 1433mhz
HDD: Hitachi 500gb & 1tb @ 7200rpm SATA2
Vidcard: XFX Raedon HD5850
Case: Antec 900
PSU: Antec 650watts
CD/DVD: Samsung lite scribe

5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Very good board, lots of room to expand mem, has 12 total USB ports which is a big plus. I haven't overclocked but it has many settings for overclocking as well as the EZ overclock switch. HDMI output as well as VGA both work great. Overall great board and great price when I got it.

Cons: No RAID but thats ok i wasn't planning on using it anyway I should be good with 1 TB. I knew it didn't have onboard RAID so no reason to take off an egg for that. Also akward IDE/PATA connector placement.

Other Thoughts: That one guy that said it was a bad board needs to do some research before buying products like motherboards. We all know an i7 doesn't have built in graphics and these motherboards do NOT have a built in graphics chipset either. You must either slap an i3 or an i5 in there otherwise you will need a PCIe video card.
This is the my first build and the first thing I did before buying anything is to make sure the things I was going to buy are compatible with each other.

5 out of 5 eggsGettin some Eggs back

Pros: This review is to offset the knucklehead below who tossed an i7 into this H55 and thought he should have video. Since the i7 does not have the built in IGP, neither superstar man here, nor 1,000,000 other people who toss a i7 into this board WILL EVER GET VIDEO!!

Cons: Find a new hobbie man. Try stamp collecting, you'll get to lick things, and have a nice gooey gluey taste every so often in your mouth.

Other Thoughts: Newegg, hardware for the common man, but not King Kong ding dongs!!

5 out of 5 eggsResponse to below

Pros: Great board. booted right up without issues

Cons: unfortunately, bought it elsewhere and could have saved money if I got it here

Other Thoughts: I am using an i5-750 and a 5770 and I get video perfectly. Only the 32nm processors (pentium,i3, and i5 dual core currently) will put out video due to the graphics on the processor. Others will require a graphics card.

1 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY THIS BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Seeing that i bought this board with an i7 and it doesnt work, i have no pros what so ever

Cons: board might as well be considered DOA, seeing it doesnt work at all with core i7's, but works fine with my i3, and my i7 works fine on my other motherboard. when the i7 is in this board, there is no video. no post screen, just blackness...

Other Thoughts: this is the second bad board ive gotten out of MSI, not happy at all!!!!! went out and bought an ASUS, now theres a real company.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer, sorry for the trouble. If you can, please email us with the i7 processor model that does not work with this mb to and also, please kindly provide us the mb model that can work with the i7 processor. Please also tell us if you are using the on board VGA or you have add a PCIE video card when using the i7 processor, thanks.
