5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo

Pros: Runs great, over clocking works well, no installment issues, fuzion technologies, NOT DOA.. What more could you ask for? Both pci-e slots are x16, no 8x duel mode.
3.0 usb
6g/b sata

Cons: The only thing i could think of is the placement of the onboard usb3.0.. There is one that has a normal placement, but the second one is behind the sound plug-ins next to the cpu. its hard to get to if you ever decided to use it, but i knew about that when i bought it.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board to build

Pros: it has some really nice features, I picked it for the sata III 6Gb/s which can be configured as RAID. I took advantage of this feature with two WD 1TB/64MB 6G drives, and 6gb of RAM for now. On board RAID controller is a snap to utilize. LiveUpdate feature also worked fine. Install an unlocked i7 processor with the intent to dabble with the overclocking capabilities of this board. Honestly, it's smokin fast so I'll hold off and maybe I give it try later to squeeze a little more performance out of it.

Cons: These days most of "google" for information because pretty much all technology support lines are a waste of time. The documentation that comes with the board is pretty general depicting where the connectors are but that's about it. There's nothing about configuring the board for different functions.

Other Thoughts: No problems with Windows 7 64 bit

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Everything works! (had to return a gigabyte that didn't) Stable, fast, easy OC, generous heatsinks. Will be upgrading other components in future to make use of faster SATA, RAID, and USB 3.0, and adding a 2nd video card to try out the Fuzion technology.

Cons: I didn't buy this one first.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard for my needs

Pros: I bought this board for my first build and I believe I made a great choice. I have owned this mobo for a couple days and it has been working great. It accepted everything I put in it with ease. When I first entered the bios, I was pleased it was very easy to navigate. It originally read my 1600 ram as 1333 speed so I enabled XMP mode in the cell menu and it recognized the 1600 speed. I bought this board because it is expandable in the future and hopefully will last 5 years before I build another computer. I am currently not using sata 6.0 or the usb 3.0 connections but will be good to have in future. I am only running one video card currently so I can't comment on how the Lucid chiop works. It accepts up to 16GB of ram which will be useful down the road. I love the color scheme also.

I used OC genie the other day and at the push of a button it instantly overclocked my i5-760 running stock at 2.8GHz to 3.4GHz and has been running stable and smooth ever since.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you have your power supply mounted on the bottom and you plan on installing your video card in the bottom slot, wait until everything else is hooked up until you install it. It will be near impossible to plug in the front panel case connections (audio, leds, power, etc..)

5 out of 5 eggsPay it forward

Pros: Dual Sata 6 and 2 USB 3 connection allows for improvements in the future that stays with the tech. Memory compatibility allows for future upgrades as well. Easy to install, OC genie is nice if you need it, i checked it to makes sure it worked and then reverted to not using it. Full use of 2 PCI E16 means full use of dual video cards. Fuzion tech is a nice bonus but not to educated on it's functions supports my SLI set up so happy.

Cons: 1st MSI board i've owned and it seems rock solid, the bios is not one that i'm used to so giving me some issues changing settings on ram and cpu and actually getting them to stick but research is the cure all. (I hate research) OC genie button is internal and a tight fit in between video card and PSU instead of having some type of attachable extension on it and i don't like taking things apart that are working fine.

Other Thoughts: side note had BSOD 3 times in the 1st couple days, updated my drivers and hasn't happened since though not sure the cause. Would highly recommend this board "which i have" to other people doing tower builds.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Like A charm

Pros: Well lucid hydra works as advertise you just have to do a little bit of research as to which cards can be utilized. There is a clear chart available which shows certain cards cant use certain cards etc...

Bought this from newegg had its 2 day before xmas was sweet because I was going to wait on cpu 875k and ram(wife went and bought them for me)(sorry newegg she bought them elsewhere)

I am running 8800gts 640mb & 6870 1gig x mode. I am getting on average 10-15 fps more in crysis. I MEAN COME ON

Cons: Not really a con but i would have like better placement for the memory and audio card. Im using a cosmos S and a Noctua NH-D14 on this board i have to use slot 2 & 4 for my CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB CMP4GX3M2A1600C8.

Other Thoughts: This is a great investment in the future because lucid hydra will one day replace all need for sli or crossfire which both are in serious need of work.

5 out of 5 eggsThis board rocks!!

Pros: Very solid performance. Made in Taiwan where the bulletproof DFI Lanparty boards were made. Everything works as advertised. Runs cool. Excellent Bios - Easy to work with. This is my 9th or 10th build and I'm very happy with this board. I use 4 monitors as a web developer and the lucid chip does improve performance running two GPU's. Both GPU's have 16 lanes.

Cons: Could have better documentation on which drivers need to be installed for given configurations. I'm also not clear on how to set up the Sata III in non-raid mode when I do get Sata III drives in the future. The appendix only has installation for raid modes unless I missed something.

Other Thoughts: If your running multiple GPU's don't forget to install the MultiGPU driver for Lucidlogix. One of my four screens blanked out without it. Drivers are available from MSI web site.

2 out of 5 eggsGood, but has problems

Pros: Good quality board with military class style quality.

Cons: Not fully tested. I saw video reviews where this baord make with a testing certificate. I did not get one with mine. It was defective in the usb ports. Every usb connection did not work. I couldn't do anything with it. Everything else went well. Also, the platform doesn't have an IDE connection which sucks.

Other Thoughts: MSI needs to properly test their products. I already got a defective video card from them in the same shipment. I would never go with them again. On the other hand, EVGA definitly is the way to go. At least, their quality is better.

5 out of 5 eggsTop of P55 Placement

Pros: 2 USB 3.0 ports w/one inside for front panel connection, 2 SATA 6GB/s (although this still has limited application) + another 6 SATA 3GB/s ports. Is there anyone really looking to hook up more than 8 internal drives? Good, solid construction & quality components. Should have full 32 lanes of PCI-E 2.0 to split between both x16 slots for graphics traffic thanks to Hydra chip. According to MSI website, the PCI-E x1 slots are 2.0 also meaning 5 GT/s throughput for those two slots as well. OC Genie(?) and DrMOS w/APS. Plenty of play in the BIOS for overclockers including unlocked "K" chip support. Good bang for the buck. Oh yeah, supports Crossfire X.

Cons: Cannot get board to boot w/OC Genie button pressed in. I've tried after fresh CLR CMOS, w "Optimized" BIOS settings and "Default" BIOS settings. Failed to boot under any of these three separate scenarios plus my own attempts. Heatsinks could be a bit beefier around MOSFETS area. Didn't find any MSI utilities/OS programs to be very useful @ all; they seemed like an afterthought. Lucid's Hydra chip can be disappointing (see Other Thoughts). Does not support SLI. The board layout would've been perfect if they switched the bottom PCI w/the top PCI-E x1 slot; I'm getting picky so I'll move on.

Other Thoughts: To the previous reviewer, you will not use either of those accessories unless utilizing Crossfire X. Originally had a 470/275 GTX N-Mode Setup which was GR8. This is really where the Hydra chip shines: allowing you to use your last/best graphics card with your new/best graphics card whether you're using N or A. X-Mode is, in my optinion, more of an advertising selling point than a legitimate possibility. The slave card WILL NOT be happy if the master card is made by the "other guys." I got the latest N card when it dropped hoping for a 580/470 KO punch but both cards, even if made by the same manufacturer, must utilize the same driver. So, I've been using my newest card and patiently waiting for just that. I knew the X-Mode wasn't a plausible solution but tried it anyway with no success - I WAS EXPECTING THAT. But when I couldn't combine two of my newest GeForce cards in N-Mode - THAT WAS DISAPPOINTING. This was my 1st MSI board and one of the best p55 boards available.
