2 out of 5 eggsGreat Board...until it dies

Pros: Relatively Inexpensive board with lots of features. USB 3.0 (which is a must nowadays) and 2 x PCI-E slots for CF/SLI. Technically supports 6-core processors.

Cons: Horrible VRM/Mosfets. I've now had 3 of this model blow and it is all linked to the VRM. Cheap boards tend to have low Power Phase Counts...but I have never had 3 of the same model in 3 identical systems fail in the same way. I've gotten an RMA every time...but I've started switching out the rest of my systems.

Other Thoughts: The VRM's have only blown on the systems with AMD PhenII x 6 processors. I have colleagues who have had VRM's fail on PhenII x 4 processors as well...but I can''t speak from experience.

1 out of 5 eggsneed 2

Pros: lots of features, 3 year warranty

Cons: working on 3hd RMA
looses bios regularly, bios flash methods confusing because of "do not use" notations on how to flash, descriptions.

Other Thoughts: I have amassed 2 of these to stay functional over RMA periods only problem is I forgot to return the last one and now have two non-functional boards.

2 out of 5 eggsFire -_-

Pros: It's good, nice spacing, held all my components well...

Cons: It randomly caught fire on me, typically I would just say fluke, but a quick google search showed about 5 pages of poeple saying this motherboard also caught fire for them. So before buying just be warned.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Worked when I put it in, no problems so far... it is a nice upgrade from my old pc chips motherboard!

Cons: My GPUs make it so i really only have 1 open pci port...

Other Thoughts: I haven't really tried raid with it or anything

5 out of 5 eggsSomewhat innocuous

Pros: Its a full ATX Mobo, lots of ports. "Military class" components (whatever that means), overclock genie button for easy OC.

Plenty of space on board.

Cons: NO ONBOARD VIDEO PORT. Caused issues when trouble shooting new machine. Had no video, and with no on board video, that did not help.

Also, not sure if it was the board or not, but no matter what I booted the machine up with (No ram, no HD, No processor, or none of them at all) I received NO POSTING beeps. Ever.

Other Thoughts: Not a lot of info on the web for the board. Seems like an 'uncommon' or 'not commonly sold' model.

2 out of 5 eggsOne more thing... Raid...

Pros: previous post

Cons: I forgot to mention that the RAID appears to be all or nothing. There doesn't appear to be a way to, as I wanted to, Raid 0 three drives and have a fourth non-RAID drive functioning on its own as boot drive. If you set the bios to RAID for the raid drives the windows installation on the single drive wont boot.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this if you are looking to do RAID

Pros: Looks good on paper, and so far everything but raid support has been fine.

Cons: Onboard RAID was a major criteria for me, and I would not have bought a board that didn't offer at least 0,1,and 10, so this not working is a big deal for me. After days of dealing with this, and the anticipation of even more to come, I am decidedly unsatisfied with MSI's customer service. The web support is a total joke. They don't even read the message, and then send you a return with a rote bunch of garbage that offers nothing to solve the problem, and instructs you to do exactly what you had said you already did in the original message. Phone support was just as bad, and the tech nearly immediately told me to return the board - no trouble-shooting; no-nuthin (and perhaps know nuthin)
I can't fit the web support exchange in the box, buy it was really bad.

The RAID controls in bios are SUPER rudimentary. Stripe size must either be 64k or 128k - no other options. Perhaps I expect too much from an onboard Raid controller - this is my first - but I am definitely disappointed.

Other Thoughts: If you don't anticipate ever doing a RAID array, this might be a good, robust, board at a decent price.

3 out of 5 eggsPurchased 2

Pros: Purchased 2 of these boards for 2 new systems. Lots of features, high-quality parts from the looks of it.

Cons: 1 worked perfectly.
1 came doa.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it's a hit and miss with this certain motherboard. From the other reviews, seems it's a 50/50 chance on getting a board that has some issue.

Sent in an RMA, will have replacement (same board) in 3 days. Will check back on the 3rd board.

1 out of 5 eggshyper transport sync flood error

Pros: Nice looking

Cons: Board started restarting and giving "hyper transport sync flood" error. Flashed bios, cleared & set bios to safe.
Still getting error. MSI rma does not have my board listed?
Tried power supply, new cpu, & ram. still got the message.
