4 out of 5 eggsNice mobo, but...

Pros: Nice features, everything works, installed this into a Linux machine and it worked fine.

Cons: I had some problems with how the board distinguishes between PATA and SATA. Getting the settings just right can be a pain. This is why the -1 in rating.

Other Thoughts: Good board although everything about it feels a little on the cheap side. I had no problems except for the above though.

3 out of 5 eggsGot a bad banana :(

Pros: Seems to run pretty fast. Since I still have a s478, it works for me.

Cons: My board came with a DOA network plug. The drivers work (believe me, I tried the ones from the CD, ones downloaded from MSI, and even ones straight from Realtek) but the plug's just no good.. :(

Other Thoughts: Kinda cramped... IDE channels are right next to some PCI slots, so if you've got longer cards you'll have to do move them so they don't block the IDE channels. If you've got a 'plus size' heatsink/fan for the CPU, forget it.. there's capacitors just above it, and the 20-pin PSU connector is RIGHT next to the CPU also. Besides that, it works great!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mother Board

Pros: Installed board in the case, hooked up all peripherals, set bios to boot from cd and let Widows XP do the rest. Setup went without a hitch. Board is very stable. The price was great as was the service from NewEgg!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Will buy this brand again.

2 out of 5 eggsdead under one year

Pros: All I said before

Cons: It died in less than a year.

Other Thoughts: I only had this thing for what 6-8 months, all of a sudden my PC would randomly reboot, freeze, and then wouldn't post I test all my pieces in my friends gigabyte board and it works great. We try his Ram in mine and well the flipping RAM slots died!!! How does this happen? The only way to get it to boot was to change memories and unhook Hard disk basicly major changes to jump start it. Then it would only work for a few minutes beforce rebooting or freezing. This is a sad day for my beloved RIG dies. :(.

Why not friggin us?

2 out of 5 eggsRocking the Cradle

Pros: Sadly none, as I could not even try it out :(

Cons: When this item was delivered to me all appeared as normal. However when I clipped in the heatsink I noticed the heatsink was lifting off of the CPU. Puzzled by this I unscrewed the board from the case and to my bewilderment the snaps that held the cradle on were not fulled depressed. I did attempt to push the 3 of the 4 pins through but it required far too much force that I could deem safe.

Other Thoughts: This sadly will be my last MSI motherboard I buy. I have had 2 lemons of the 5 that I have bought and I demand better results.

Pros: It seemed like a good board... but I never got a chance to see it in action =/

Cons: The AGP slot was broken....

5 out of 5 eggsLove MSi

Pros: Have only bought 2 boards in the last 4 years - both are MSIs. Never had a problem with either. Easy install, fire it up and load Windows, good to go.

Cons: Driver CD is pretty outdated. Worthwhile to load only the barebones network drivers, then just go download newest stuff from MSIs site. Will save you half an hour or so.
