4 out of 5 eggsGood but could be better

Pros: It works well easy to install.

Cons: Some of these boards need a BIOs upgrade to work with the Sempron procesor. New Egg won't RMA it and MSI takes 2 weeks to fix it. The sound on the motherboard is desabled by default. I use a USB mouse and it took me a while to figure out how to stop the BIOs from complaining about the absense of a PS/2 mouse.

Other Thoughts: None of the problems are insurmountable. It's a good board for the price. Just stupid problems that could have been avoided.

3 out of 5 eggsSomewhat disappointed

Pros: -It has Firewire built-in
-It's fanless

Cons: -Memory won't run at DDR400 despite manually setting the BIOS
-Audio crackling on occassion
-A jumper is in the way of the last PCI slot - I could not get my TV tuner to fit, which was the whole point

Other Thoughts: I bought this motherboard because I thought I would be able to use all three PCI slots. My last had two of three blocked off by poor component placement--my TV tuners simply would not fit. I suppose I should be happy that I can actually use two now, but there are still a bunch of other issues. Now I get to spend more money to solve the problems with this motherboard. I went with MSI after my last one started to fail after two years; I'm not so sure I will be doing so again.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent little motherboard

Pros: Feature packed little board with respectable on-board graphics that run cool. I'll probably never use the firewire, but with my case and the included one on the motherboard I have two IEEE-1394 ports available, and 6 USB ports. Need to figure out what to do with the other USB header.

Cons: Can only route audio out to one location, either the on-board output or to a front location case supplied audio out (but I knew this when purchasing). Limited BIOS setting support. I'm running BIOS version 1.4 and I can't get rid of the complaint about not having a PS/2 mouse installed, so I had to change the boot settings to not require F1 be pressed for any "errors". Live Update is currently down.

Other Thoughts: It would have been really nice if it shipped with the S/PDIF connector, but at least it does have a header for it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Best onboard GFX for Socket 754;
never needed to hook up a monitor when installing XP for a media/game machine to use with a TV. Got >600 3dmarks in 3dmark05 (source engine games are playable, without AA of course) and PCI-exp slot means you're not stuck with it anyway if you can afford an upgrade.

Cons: No FSB/voltage options in BIOS,
allowing Windows update to install (optional) hardware update for onboard ATI video resulted in black screen and reinstalling WinXP...download the catalyst drivers straight from ATI!

Other Thoughts: Works great with Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice core, 512KB cache 2GHz), was worried after reading some other reviews, but my setup worked without a hitch. Also, it appears you can dual head, if not clone, WinXP recognizes two discrete display adapters

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: Reasonably priced, nice look, no issues with Sempron 64 support, good board layout.

Cons: Really didn't run into any and just plain rude build quality seems common in MicroATX motherboards these days.

Other Thoughts: As a custom system builder when it's home PCs I usually turn to ASUS. After 3 bad MicroATX boards in a row from ASUS (after such luck with their full size boards) I turned to MSI at the beginning of this year and have never looked back. No issues fitting into a half height case. The tv out ports come on a standard slot cover so I had to punch my own for half height but the two of them fit just perfectly on a half height blank. I was able to easily get 3D to work in SuSE following the instructions off ATI's website. I wasn't so lucky in 64-bit SuSE but I am a beginner in the world of Linux as a multimedia desktop. Running Windows XP (32) and SuSE (64) the client was happy / I am happy.

1 out of 5 eggsSucks

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: VGA, bad.
Onboard port for speaker, bad.
PS2 mouse, bad.
Have to pay for the RMA shipment back, MSI will not pay for shipping back to them, SUPER BAD. Have used many MSI MB in the past, but this will be the last.

5 out of 5 eggsTurion Compatible

Pros: I do not own this board, I actually own the earler RS480 MSI board, however I think everyone should know this will work with an AMD Turion CPU. Just get the CPU cover from MSI.com and a regular 754 heatsink and it should make for a great performance per watt computer.

Cons: No overclocking capabilities, as was the case with the RS480. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: I've never had a problem with my MSI mobo. Even upgraded to a nVidia based 6100 chipset mobo, but had so many booting issues I switched back. I'd buy this if I were in the market.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little board

Pros: Stable on x64, seems to like my generic hardware and eats up games on my X800GTO and 640x480 projecto...

Cons: No PCIE x1, no cooling on south bridge

Other Thoughts: This was built as a theater/big screen gaming PC and does its job supberbly. MSI is a solid brand and this board has proven quite stable thus far...
