1 out of 5 eggsAwful Mobo

Pros: It is visually appealing. The placement of most of the parts is OK.

Cons: It does not work at all. It just power cycles. All of my components are brand new. I will RMA, and may not ever use MSI ever again!

Other Thoughts: They had recalled this shortly after I purchased it. No wonder it was on sale! I purchased this board a year ago and have finally opened it to build my machine. All of my components should work, but from what I can see, MSI recalled this board right after I purchased it. No wonder it was on sale! This motherboard was too good to be true for the price. I guess I should have known it was awful when it was advertised as supporting onboard video and didn't even have a video port. I guess that's why they recalled it: OOPS We forgot something!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
There was no recall for this product unless you mixed the B3 stepping with B2 stepping.

If you are attemping to use 3rd gen (Ivy Bridge processor) then the board will require BIOS update.
Please be advised that the board was originally designed for 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge CPU with part number 2xxx, then we've added support for existing owners to upgrade to Ivy Bridge processor through a new BIOS update which was released earlier last year.
Therefore, all Ivy Bridge processor will not work with this motherboard right out of box without a new BIOS update.
If you want a functional system right out of box with 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge CPU then you will need to purchase Z77 motherboards.

Finally, please kindly visit the URL below to set up a RMA with the following information and we can update BIOS for you free of charge.
http://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/rma_form_new.aspx

1. Full name (first, and last)
2. Telephone #
3. Physical address
4. Email address
5. Serial number (located on the box, or underneath the motherboard, eg 601-xxxx-xxxBxxxxxxxxxx)
6. Symptoms you are having onto the Special Remark section (as detailed as possible)

Once your information and warranty coverage are verified then we can proceed with this RMA for you.
Our turn-around time is typically about one week once the board arrives and our system will notify you at every stage of your RMA process.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the product, received the unit back from RMA but are still having issues, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at usreview@msi.com and we will be more than happy to assist you, thank you.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The board has many decent features for the price range.

Cons: The only problem with the board so far is that the rear USB ports are going bad. Keyboard and mouse would randomly stop working and would require a restart to restore. Have verified drivers within within Windows 7 as well as updating BIOS. Moved connections to the front panel USB ports of the case and have not had issues.

Other Thoughts: Other than the USB problems the board has performed well, would buy MSI again.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted only 9 months

Pros: Cheap and great for any starter PC on a budget.

Cons: Stoped working in just 9 months. Computer started to turn off randomly and then it just died. I test everything and it's this board what died. Nothing shorted, nothing touched anything important it just pft died.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent MOBO

Pros: I've not had any issues what-so-ever with this board. I have owned it for a year now, and with an overclocked i5-2500k (running at 4.8GHz), overclocked RAM, and an overclocked graphics card, I have had zero stability issues. I have never had to worry about this thing not booting. My chipset temp sits at 29 degrees celsius constantly, regardless of what activity I'm doing. I couldn't be happier, and would gladly buy another board from MSI. Thank you for having an awesome website that is constantly updated as well, I've noticed some other manufacturers completely neglect products after the first 3 months...

Cons: The only downside I can find is that the board does not have an easier way to reset the cmos. It's kind of a pain to remove the battery each time because of the location of my GPU :/

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great board for overclocking with a budget in mind.
Good peripheral layout.

Cons: This board died and failed to POST in less than 1 year after running an overclocked core i5 @ 3.6Ghz (3.3) stock and a gtx 460 @ 800/2000 (720/1800) stock.

Other Thoughts: BIOS for this board was definitely odd in its setup as it makes use of the mouse and requires the user to double click.
Used an SSD with this board, requiring a fresh installation of Windows and some additional driver updates.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA- RUNS HOT

Pros: Looks Nice...yeah thats about it.

Cons: My particular motherboard ran close to 100 degrees Celsius while playing games. My case has 2x200mm fans and 1x120mm fan so its not airflow. My CPU is running at 30 idle 45 load with hyper 212+ evo. I dont know why its running so hot, I used multiple temperature programs too!

Other Thoughts: I wont say that I wont buy from MSI again. However, I am disappointed. Will update review after RMA.
