4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Update to previous review. After swapping out all components with a new motherboard I determined that the culprit in my case was faulty firmware on an SSD. How the SSD caused random BIOS screens to pop up is unknown to me, but updating the SSD firmware (a Crucial M4) resolved this issue on both systems.

Cons: I don't give this product 5 stars as the BIOS itself needs much more documentation - but this is a problem with most BIOS so nothing personal.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Long term

Pros: Nice motherboard, bought two.

Cons: Both systems failed after 6mo. Randomly pops into the BIOS screen. Loaded the latest BIOS, spent weeks playing with poorly documented BIOS options to no avail.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could exchange for something better, going to cost me to replace.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome micro board, great for overclocking

Pros: This board is awesome! I put it in my first ever build, and it's been working great for a year. I currently have an i7 2600k @ 4.4 GHz (1.32V) which is a 24/7 OC. I do F@H for around 10+ hours a day on this, and haven't experienced a crash at these clocks since they've been stable. (about 2 weeks)

I've had the board since May, and have had only 1 minor problem since then. Other than that, this is an amazing board, and I'd buy it again in any budget build I make. :)

Cons: The only problem I have with this board is the back audio output (to headphones) isn't working right. The sound sometimes doesn't output on one side, then the other, then back to normal, but the case output works fine (which is the output from the motherboard).

The only real con I have is that Newegg doesn't carry this board anymore. :( I love this board. :)

Other Thoughts: If you have/have found this board somewhere, and are trying to use it with an Ivy Bridge CPU, it won't work. I don't think the BIOS in this board has not been updated to support Ivy chips.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
For the audio issue, we may need to replace your board with another one to resolve it.

Moreover, BIOS is available for Ivy Bridge CPUs, see below URL.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works

Pros: The system zips right along when functional, and the autoupdate feature is handy.

Cons: Every line will have its bad eggs, but MSI has done a horrible job handling RMA's. I've put in two calls, one taking 30 minutes to reach a rep, and the second taking 90 minutes to reach a rep. Both calls were supposed to get some information and call me back; a week later I still haven't heard from either. I'm assuming that MSI may be outsourcing their customer support, which would lead to this issue.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWas good, when it worked.

Pros: MSI bios is very clean, thats about all the pros i can think of.

Cons: Started giving me problems after about 3 months so i had to RMA. My first call to CS the rep answered hello and that's it. Then they wanted me to pay shipping and after arguing and asking for a supervisor he finally decided to send a label, electronically.
Now I have been in the RMA process for a little over a week with out any word what is going on with my MoBo. I tried calling and the wait is so long it goes to voice mail over and over. I won't ever buy another MSI product again because of this. The customer service sucks and the product was not quality.

Other Thoughts: Should have gone giga or intel

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsThat's what I call SOLID

Pros: This motherboard has handled everything I've thrown at it...all that's left is the kitchen sink. It was cheap on shell shocker, it arrived fast and know keeps my system amazingly running smooth.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I built a beast, in its belly:

2 out of 5 eggsNo upgrade available

Pros: Does what it says. Stars removed for lack of support.

Cons: I bought this motherboard (Dec 11) thinking that MSI would support it. There have been no Ivy Bridge BIOS updates (Jun 12)

Other Thoughts: This was my first MSI motherboard. I now regret that decision. I should have bought the less expensive ASUS P8Z68-M PRO as they have already updated the BIOS for Ivy Bridge CPUs.

4 out of 5 eggsG3 support , not B3 support

Pros: Quality board maker

Cons: MSI anounced on 23-Feb-2012 that there would be G3 upgradeable boards and there was no mention of B3 boards. Do your research first!

1 out of 5 eggsWill stick to gigabyte motherboards in the future.

Pros: Love the UEFI BIOS.
Love the blue lights.
Black looks cool.

Cons: Do not buy! When booting up 75% of the time has a white line in the corner and freezes. Tried using a different hard drive, still an issue. Uninstalled Windows, still an issue.

Other Thoughts: If anyone had the same issue please contact me at zccomputers.com@gmail.com

1 out of 5 eggsSTILL NO SUPPORT

Pros: Blue lights are still pretty. Great Newegg Service.

Cons: STILL NO 22NM IVY BRIDGE SUPPORT!!!

Other Thoughts: I have been in contact with MSI customer support for the last two days trying to understand why they refuse to update the B3 revision boards with 22nm support. They went so far as responding to my review below, then ignored me again when I contacted them. I have been told to wait, be patient, and keep checking back for service I should have received almost two weeks ago. If MSI support contacts you, don't get your hopes up for resolution, they just tell you there is nothing they can do, and move on. All I want is a bios update. If this is the standard level of service for loyal MSI customers, I will gladly move on to another vendor next time I'm in the market. Nobody buys these products without the basic expectation of timely support within the warranty period. I had that expectation, and was left with disappointment. Caveat emptor.
