3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad, So Sad.

Pros: This motherboard has been solid for 1 year with 32 GB of memory and no overclocking. It has a good subset of features and is reasonably priced. I experienced only one major issue the entire time I had it...more on that in a min.

Cons: The minors first: Had to do a BIOS update immediately due to the Mouse Vertical Orientation being inverted.

The Majors: Apparently there is an auto update function in the software that comes with the motherboard. This auto update feature includes the BIOS. After a reboot I was presented with a screen that stated the motherboard was applying BIOS updates which I let run their coarse. The PC started power cycling indefinitely from then on and I had to R.M.A the board.

Other Thoughts: Its frustrating because up until this point, 1 year, I would have given this board a 4 or 5 egg easily. Its too bad that this review had to suffer due to a bad BIOS update.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mainboard!

Pros: Feature loaded! Easily upgraded to Ivy & PCI-E 3.0 support.

Cons: Zero! Nada! None!

Other Thoughts: This is a personal favorite! PCI slot & lots of configuration possibilities. This is one mainboard that responds extremely well to the Ivy updates.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Flawless motherboard, apart from it's lifespan. I put my rig together in late December 2011 and everything ran perfectly until it suddenly died in November 2012.

Cons: As stated, I would instantly recommend this motherboard to anyone if it had lasted more than 10 months.

2 out of 5 eggsReplacement for malfunctioning P67A-GD80 has new set of problems

Pros: MSI was good enough to send me a Z68A-GD80 (G3) upgrade after 2 RMA's for a malfunctioning P67A-GD80. The ClickBios II on the Z68 is much better than the previous series on the P67 in every way, and overclocked easily to 4.6GHz on an Intel 2600K with no problems (unlike the previouis P67, which would crash non-stop).

Cons: The layout has unfortunately not changed since the P67A-GD80, which means that the PCI-E slots are geared towards people with 2 videocards (which I am not). I have 1 Nvidia 560 Ti and a Creative Titanium HD soundcard instead. This necessitates that I put the videocard in the 8x PCI-E slot if I still want to use my soundcard. Not a deal-breaker (since the 560 Ti isn't a top-of-the-line model), but layout could have been improved since the P67 series.

Other Thoughts: The board MSI sent me was a replacement Z68A-GD80, meaning that it comes with nothing - no driver CD or manual. The manual can be downloaded, but apparently there are certain drivers that the board needs to work properly. I could get the computer to boot and run, but Speccy or CPU-Z couldn't start because the motherboard couldn't initialize the SPC dll - essentially the board couldn't communicate the CPU, memory, or other specs. Probably because of this, the computer would hang when it shutdown - the screen would turn off but the CPU would still be running. Only removing the power would shut the computer down. It's as though the motherboard couldn't issue hardware-level commands to the components, but would be able to run Windows mostly fine. Not sure if the replacement/upgrade Z68 board I got was bad, or if I needed some special drivers that would be on a retail driver CD (I did install all the drivers I could find on the MSI site). I really need MSI's advice/help on this one.

4 out of 5 eggsDid what I needed

Pros: Did what it was supposed to do. It has been doing well with no problems for 3 months now.

Cons: Had to return the first board because it wouldn't work with more than one RAM module in it. Second one works great.

Other Thoughts: A little upset that I needed to pay for the shipping on the RMA when the board was defective from the get go. Besides the extra shipping price, the new board has been working just fine for several months.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Board, Tricky Sound Problem

Pros: Like the new BIOS. Very easy to work with. OC Genie, too. Everything installed quickly and easily. Quality is evident, and I like the look and feel. Decent manuals, and the full color poster showing the board's layout was very helpful.

Cons: Crackling, popping sound. SATA layouts are a bit of a problem as the video cards extend over them.

Other Thoughts: Sound issues make videos unwatchable. Originaly ran across threads discussing issues with SLI, but I removed my video cards and sound card and just ran with onboard graphics/sound. Same crackling. Deactivating onboard graphics/sound doesn't help. Updated every driver. Tried contacting MSI, but their customer service web site is a bit messy.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice MB!

Pros: Does what it advertises, connect my stuff together. worked out of the box and now I got a screaming PC.

Cons: - No P ATA... had an old drive I wanted to get data off of but coul dnot plug it in. purchased a PATA add on card for PCIe 1x port and the MB removed the sound chip... then didn't detect the add on card. removed the card and sound comes back.
- Also, when I plug in my video card to PCIe 16x it blocks the other slots. it seems most of these slots are un usable anyway. they have too much crammed onto one board. things used to be so simple.
- BIOS was a little tricky to get used to. I like the old stuff better. good thing I don't go into the BIOS often.

Other Thoughts: I have been an MSI supporter for a long time, they make great boards adn never been let down on their value.

Build: Intel i& 2700K, Z68A-GD80(G3), Diamond Radeon 6770 1G DDR5, 8G G-skill memory, and 2x Mushkin 60G SSD raid1 and Win7. So far I love it.

4 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: This is a great board for those of us who don't know enough about how to adjust your bois to overclock. The over clock genie and instant overclock functions of the board do everything for you. When you need to overclock, the instant overclock just kicks in auto. Also like the charging feature where you can charge electronics while your computer is off. The board and all it's software was easy to instal. Now I just need to wait for the Ivy Bridge processors to come out.

Cons: MSI's rebate process is a pain in the rear. Don't waist your money on the express processing (it still took me three months to get my rebate) and makes sure all your paper work is correct. New egg made finding the rebate site and form easy.

As for the board, the way the sata ports are situated vertically made connecting wires in my case a little difficult, but not impossible.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had any issues with this board at all. Owned it now for three months and I love it. I run windows 7, but the board comes with a linux based os already on it called Winki. I played with it and it is very user friendly and stable.

1 out of 5 eggsMulti-GPU for Crossfire and SLI are the issue

Pros: This MB work great for one video card. It is easy over clock and very stable. I run it 4.2ghz on my 2600K, it give my WEI score all 7.9 except the cpu 7.8 RAM set at 1866mhz. It did not work if Mermory set at 2133mhz.
My system is 2600k cpu, 2 GTX 480, 8gb DDR3-2133, OCZ 750W power supply, Crucial M4 SSD 128gb, Window 7 64bit Ultimate.

Cons: It will fit the first video card. The second video card fit but you have to remove the sata 6 cable connector, also the system speaker and power LED connector have to remove too.

Other Thoughts: This MSI MB is poor design. I would try for Asus MB.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems solid

Cons: Clickbios II comes on the utility disk, but is not supported by the board.
