1 out of 5 eggsStay away!

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: MSI claims Zambezi 125W TDP processors will work with this motherboard, but 125W TDP Vishera's will fry the VRM (voltage regulator modules) on the motherboard. False. I had two of these motherboards, one with a FX8320 and FX8120. Prime95 for 20 minutes and it fried both motherboards, and took both processors with it.

At a stretch, only use with 95W TDP processors, period. Personally, I'd stay away from MSI for life. No built in VRM-failure protection.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Please refer to the processor support list below for best result on our board, please note the FX8320 is not on the list.

4 out of 5 eggsokay

Pros: works, it takes my vishera 8350 despite MSI saying that it cant take it because of the over wattage.

Cons: small, not a whole lot of room to upgrade. no sata III

Other Thoughts: i dont know if its my board or what but i get constant bluescreens telling me MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, and when i go into CPUZ my ram part number is different than it actually is. my ram is GSkill ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL and my computer is telling me its F3-12800CL9-4GBRL which is non-existent according to Gskill. i would take one ram out and no BSOD, switch the two around still no BSOD. but when i put them both back in BSOD next morning. happens at totally random times

i got one of these in the mail so hopefully this solves my problem

ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support and UEFI BIOS

probably use this board for a smaller build later on to just have something for my friends to play on

3 out of 5 eggsNo Parallel

Pros: Stable. Has Com1 port. Lots of network driver OS support at MSI site.

Cons: Don't buy this board if you need the parallel port. The on-board header is non-standard and the cable/bracket to bring out the 25 pin female connector is not included and only available from MSI. Wouldn't be a problem if their on line shopping worked, but it does not. And the shipping charges are crazy.

Other Thoughts: I have a client with an ancient SCO OS operation. I'm building new hardware to host their old OS and software. This board is almost perfect but for the stupid mini header for the parallel port. The on-board GB NIC has drivers for SCO!!! I t has 1 COM port. Memory is handled correctly (with a single core CPU). It even has PATA and Floppy headers for loading those BTLD's. Just that dumb parallel header in the way of a perfect solution to a really old problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat experience so far

Pros: 1. Cheap
2. Works with an FX-6300
3. No problems so far

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: This worked out of the box with my FX-6300. Yes, you have to update the BIOS, but I didn't have any issues doing that with the FX-6300 already installed. This was a major concern of mine because I found conflicting information across the Internet, but I had no issues.

I bought this after an ASUS board arrived DOA.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Budget Board

Pros: Great board for the money, Surprisingly good overclocker, Stable, Vishera support- Runs my fx-4300 @ 4.7 GHZ stable

Cons: Doesn't run vishera 125w cpus, because they use higher than advertised TDP

Other Thoughts: Felt compelled to do a review because, i think this board is very under-rated. I have used 4 of these boards in 4 different builds. Never a doa, and never even a fail to post while overclocking.

1 out of 5 eggs3/3 Died

Pros: Good price, good feature set

Cons: I bought three. They all died within a year. I RMA'ed the first two. I'm not going to even bother with the third - they're clearly junk and I got back the same rev I sent in (Ver 1.2). I'm not sure why I even bothered to install the ones I got back. I would really rather have them just buy me some Gigabit GA-78LMT-USB3's instead.

Other Thoughts: Buy the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 instead. It is better in every way and I haven't had any die on me yet (I have five).

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsManufacturer Inconsistency

Pros: Price, features, and it ran (for about 2 weeks)

Cons: The manufacturer blamed the 125W TDP processor I was using and refused to replace the motherboard. They also state this in a review response:

“This board can only handle up to 95W TDP processors, please check and see if your CPU is over the limit.”

However, both the Manufacturer’s own website and Newegg state the board supports a 125W TDP processor:

http://us.msi.com/product/mb/760GM-E51.html#/?div=CPUSupport

Shame on MSI for blaming the end user for a failure in either engineering or communication (someone has to be wrong). Newegg is just going off what MSI has on the support site, so MSI is to blame.

Other Thoughts: These types of manufacturer inconsistencies should not be tolerated, and if MSI was a bigger, more popular company (like Apple) I am sure some money hungry lawyer would jump at the chance of a class action lawsuit. For now all we can do is steer clear of MSI.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This board cannot handle Vishera 125W CPUs since they put 140W load on it, but Zambezi 125W CPUs are fine.

1 out of 5 eggsTried the same model twice

Pros: Great board for future upgrading, up to 32gb of ram. First set up went well and everything worked for 2 days.

Cons: First board died after 2 days, I went against my first instinct to get different board and tried this same model again. The second board was nothing but problems from the start. The motherboard would not play sound and was running slower than the original motherboard and cpu that I was replacing.

Other Thoughts: Please stay away from this board. Spend $10 more and get the Asus M5A78L from newegg.com!

1 out of 5 eggsElectrifying experience

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Very unreliable, slow RMA process

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board back in January, along with other brand new components (FX-8150, Antec case, Corsair 650w, etc). About a month in, my computer was turned off one afternoon. I hit the power button and was greeted by a large pop and sparks. A chip on the board (I'm a Comp Sci guy but, a Comp Eng friend of mine confirmed to be a voltage regulator) was left with a large hole in it. RMA process took nearly 4 weeks for the board. I then discovered that the board took my CPU and PSU with it.

I did get the system running after replacing those parts when the exact same thing happened AGAIN after 5 weeks or so. I have never had such a bad experience with motherboards. This was my first and last MSI board.

Manufacturer Response:
