1 out of 5 eggspoor connectivity

Pros: basic board works

Cons: only usb2.0 internal I/o

Other Thoughts: newegg advertise this as part of a combo 'designed for gamers by gamers' but the case only accepts usb3.0. the parts don't fit together!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: MSI "ClickBiosII" (non-hybrid UEFI firmware)

Nice looking component heatsinks

MSI Fastboot. Windows 8.1 boots to desktop in ~8 seconds with a traditional SATA 6Gb/s HDD.

2nd PCI-e 2.0 slot runs at x8

Cons: No USB3 header on-board

Other Thoughts: It's a budget chipset, so don't try to OC to much, especially with 120W CPU's, you could risk blowing the voltage regulator from what I hear.

Would recommend for anyone looking to upgrade from older hardware on a budget.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fairly inexpensive, and for what it is designed for, works well. A billion USB 2.0 ports, has USB 3, fairly decent layout. SATA ports behind the first PCIe slot are right angle so as to not interfere with the card.

Cons: Two of the SATA ports that are behind the second PCIe slot are not right angle, so they might get in the way depending on your setup. Weird design choice there. No USB 3 header for front USB 3 ports.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this board expecting super amazing overclocks you're barking up the wrong tree. For what this board is designed for it does the job, and does it well. It's been stable and offers a good range of capabilities. People docking 2 or 3 stars over no front USB 3 header or onboard video need to pay attention to what they are getting. Personally I'd much rather have the USB than onboard video on a full ATX board. I suspect that most people buying an ATX board are planning on a dedicated, higher performance video card.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent budget AM3+ Board, with caveat however.

Pros: Decent features vs. price. Board has a good layout. While running SLI/Xfire you still have 1 PCI and 1 PCIx1 slot available without restricting airflow to cards. Board is also pretty stable while running in normal non-OC'd mode even with a 125W processor. If you're looking for a decent cheap SLI board that will run pretty solid and don't plan on over clocking, this one will do for ya.

Cons: I wish MSI would have been more open about this boards VRM issue. For a board that implies it supports all FX processors with no asterisk and is pushed as good for over clocking with it's own OC Genie software, it kinda pee's the bed. If you plan on using any FX-9xxx series processor, forget about it. It can't handle the 220Ws, I think that's a given on the 970 in general anyway. However, the FX-8xxx are o.k. as long as you don't OC. OC even slightly and the board trips a thermal sensor in the processor which usually crashes something like explorer.exe, benchmarking software, or heaven forbid, my game *grinds teeth*. Anyway, MSI's resolution for their questionably false advertising is to overcharge you the difference for their next level up 990 chipset board. Overall, I take responsibility for not investigating a little deeper into this board before I bought it. If I were that worried about overclocking I should have bought a 990 series chipset board to begin with, this just kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. MSI isn't really falsifying info, they're just not really telling you what the board won't do, which companies will tend to, well, do. Anyway, just letting you know before you possibly make the same mistake I did.

Other Thoughts: The only layout issue I did have with the board is that there are 2 upright SATA ports on the board that get covered up if you use a medium/long card in the 2nd PCIx16 slot. Not that big of a deal since there are 4 side mounted, figured I just note it.
Also, I personally felt this board could have used a little more blue, possibly one of the heatsinks. The only blue is on 4 plastic slots, so it kinda just looks fairly mute amongst my other components.

TL;DR: Would not get if you have FX-8xxx or higher CPU, otherwise, decent cheap stable board.

4 out of 5 eggsworks good

Pros: stable, easy to set up, decent oc range

Cons: -limits the oc ability of the cpu but thats what you get for this price point so not enough to drop an egg

-old bios probably wont get updated again

Other Thoughts: what bugs me the most is that i had to pay for shipping and then it took longer than i paid for. will i buy another mb from newegg? maybe but that force shipping burned me.

1 out of 5 eggsSuperCombo problems

Pros: N/A

Cons: Never managed to power it up, the power supply (which does work) can not connect to the motherboard. I suspect that it is a faulty motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard is sold in one of Newegg's "SuperCombos" ( www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1670930 ) and the case in this combo has multiple USB 3 ports; the motherboard in this combo does not support USB 3 ports.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad if you know about the product ahead of time

Pros: A lot of features/expandability to price ratio.

Nicely fit the forming color scheme of my rig.

Cons: It's a budget board with a 4+2 vrm.

The bios is a lil laggy, but its not old skool 90s era bios, so I could care less

Other Thoughts: Do your research on all parts b4 purchase. This board is very good for what it offers to price, but its not an overclocker enthusiast by any stretch. The ppl that seemed to have better results w/ any overclock didnt have a cpu that was 125w tdp stock. If you gonna push it a lil get a spot fan for the vrm heatsink.

Check the model/production model, can't remember the numbers location but b4 a certain point the board will need a bios flash to recognize vishera. Mine was after that date so bios worked from the 1st start up.

Owned and used on a 24/7 pc for 6months now and no problems.

3 out of 5 eggsbang for your buck

Pros: it is a good board and does come with the winki instant on linux OS which is a nice little fun bonus. Also included some useful add-ons such as 7zip and drivers for AMD catalyst. Has a neat little overclocking feature and easy on turbo mode for the less experienced overclockers.

Cons: is a somewhat smaller board if you are looking to run a large video card like a ATI R9 graphics card you may want to look at a larger full tower motherboard with more slots or at least ones that have the slots spaced out better. In mine the R9 takes up half the entire boards space and does not leave enough room.

Other Thoughts: overall good buy if you're looking to add a higher end chip without adding a super steep price tag. Probably will wind up being a stepping stone to a much better system however as I foresee the mobo running out of usefulness as the need for a better system increases.
