All Solid Capacitors

Capacitors are the most important component for electronic product's power supply. The quality of the capacitors can impact the stability of the entire system and risk of product failure. Currently there are two types of capacitors, electrolytic capacitors and solid capacitors. Compared to electrolytic capacitors, solid capacitors have a longer lifespan, and provide a more stable power under high temperatures. More importantly, solid capacitors do not have any liquid materials inside, and thus will not suffer a leak which would infringe upon the product's stability. With such benefits is it no wonder that solid capacitors are very important for product quality's improvement.

SLI technology allows using multiple Nvidia graphics cards in a single computer system with a motherboard equipped with an nForce SLI MCP. Users need an a motherboard with two PCI-Express 16X graphics slots and two matching GeForce graphics cards which are "SLI Ready." Most NVIDIA's PCI-Express graphics cards starting from the 6600 GPU can enjoy the benefits of SLI.

APS (Active Phase Switching)

Active Phase Switching, APS, technology is an intelligent design that helps to save energy on MSI's motherboards. The underlying idea is to switch off the power supply as soon as no electricity is needed, and when the system needs more resources again, APS will automatically adjust electricity supply accordingly. APS will automatically detect your processor's loading at any given time and save energy accordingly. This is only possible by means of a very advanced power controlling technology. Other than software-based solutions, APS technology stands out from MSI's own research. The specially developed IC chip can operate automatically depending on the demands of the power supply, which is to reduce the total power usage.

2 out of 5 eggs"Top Quality and Stability" are a joke

Pros: -Low price
-UEFI Bios
-Support for dual and quad channel RAM
-2 PCI-E slots

Cons: - Does NOT support FX 8350
- Does NOT support CPU overclocking
- SATA ports/controllers failed after 2 years

Other Thoughts: The four words on the box "Top Quality and Stability" are a complete JOKE. More like "Poor quality and stability"
Does NOT support the FX 8350 or any overclocking for any FX processor
MSI doesn't even deny it when you ask them that this board cannot take over 125 W. The 8350 is rated for 140 W. At most this board can handle an FX 6300 with a very slight overclock. I personally have an FX 6300 and could never overclock over 4.2 GHz without instability.

SATA ports/controllers horrible
After little over 2 years of having this board, the SATA controllers are starting to fail on me. I'm getting many BSODs related to the hard drive. After RMA my RAM and spending $100 for a hard drive replacement, I'm continuing to have issues. The board is the LAST thing I presumed. I'm RMAing the board right now, hopefully I will get a good replacement

5 out of 5 eggsMOBO does its job

Pros: It's been reliable and have had no problems with it. Just like any other reviews online, the people that get DOA will always make the eggs go down, but as a server admin a DOA is pretty common. So, don't those eggs stop you from getting this board.

3 out of 5 eggsNot 8 core compatibile

Pros: Is a good board with the right processor. WIll run dual and quad core processors like a dream but does not last long with an 8 core processor. Please research before you buy

Cons: Dispite being advertised as an 8 core comptible the fx 8320 and 8350 will burn this board up. MSI support state they know these processors can run up to 140w at full load such as running benchmarks and stability tests.

Other Thoughts: If your looking to put this an 8 core with this board you might be better off getting the 970 gaming it has usb 3 and a 6+2 or the 990fx g65 or even the g80 which both have better vrm heat sinks.

2 out of 5 eggsMSI 970A-G46

Pros: Price.
SLI/XFire support.
Played Nicely with my FX-8350

Cons: Just about every other thing.
This board was doing what it does, then for no explainable reason it Started to run hot! Now i've gone over it there are no cracks or chips, everything is seated correctly. it has been pulled and replaced by a Sabretooth So I Built a 2nd rig something for the kids, FX4130 8ggb ddr3 250GB HDD and this board paired with a r9 280x
Still running at 62 Celsius Just doing nothing, sitting at the desktop. I cant imaging cooling is the problem the Case has 8 Fans in it.

Other Thoughts: If you need as budget board then this will do, but I would stay away otherwise

3 out of 5 eggsgood board - but unexplained sleep issue

Pros: FX 8 core support, USB 3.0, UEFI bios
note that i own 2 of these boards. each using different memory (1 with PNY / 1 with AMD ) and processors ( FX6300 / FX8320 ). installed in corsair 730 and thermaltake overseer cases. using closed loop water coolers. low idle and gaming Temps .no issues with VRMs. GTX960 graphics. but one board had issues with bios update supplied directly by MSI support and locked up. more info in CON section

Cons: so one board works fine but the second is a mess. It had sleep issue not waking the monitor, after several tests I contacted MSI. I wss told by MSI the bios was the issue. they sent me an email with the bios. followed instructions and when it rebooted it quit working. no boot. Sent the board to MSI. they fixed the bios and updated to 2.6 but never looked into the sleep issue. after a month wait, board back and loaded up to have the same wake issue. replaced the memory, hard drive, graphics card and processor. yet with the latest bios when putting the system to sleep the board does not wake the monitor. and yes a new monitor too. Only a system reboot fixes the issue. never sleep keeps the system with no issues, but i like to use S3 sleep. board works with no issues otherwise.

1 out of 5 eggsMy second one just died.

Pros: Goof features for the price (while they lasted).

Cons: My second one has just died. I paid full price for each board both of which lasted for just over a year with light use in a very clean and safe environment. Very disappointed with this product.
