3 out of 5 eggsFor the man/woman on a budget

Pros: Easy bios. Decent performance for a cheap board. Squeezes about ~5 more frames per second than my previous board.

Cons: not as many grounding points as I would like. The first DIMM slot sits a little closer to my CPU heatsink than i'm comfortable with (so if you have performance RAM, the heatsinks will be maybe ~6mm from eachother). The chassis peripheral pinouts are pretty far away from the front of the case, and there is just BARELY room to crossfire/SLI hefty sized cards because of this (x2 HD 7870s in this build)

Other Thoughts: Get an extended warranty. Don't argue. Just do it. A board this cheap with so many bad reviews deserves caution.

4 out of 5 eggsEntry level board

Pros: I am exclusive to MSI products and this board is a great entry level gaming rig board, this board gets confusing when it comes to 125W processors yes it will run them with the right cooler but I would advise against it. This board is not for the avid overclocker but if your simply looking for a good board with a 95W or lower processor this is the board for you. If you have a 125w CPU pay $20 to $30 more for the 970 Gaming from MSI.

Cons: The VRM does not play well with Eight-Core 125W processors.

Other Thoughts: Please do your research if your planning on an FX-8xxx 125W chip.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent For Price

Pros: crossfire/sli ready
plenty of expansion ports

Cons: doesn't dissipate heat very efficiently
8-pin power header in a hard to reach spot

Other Thoughts: this motherboard was good for a midrange/crossfire budget build. a good first mobo for a first diy pc build.

The motherboard has died recently, have only had this mobo for >4 months before it died...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Lossless audio
Very user friendly BIOS
32GB memory
8 usb ports (6 usb 2 2 usb 3)

Cons: No usb 3 header on board

Other Thoughts: I happen to love the board, and I have only had it since June. My biggest issue is that there is not a usb 3 header on the board to permit you to use a case that has usb 3 ports on it. However It was my fault for not really looking, and its not a deal breaker for me.
I would highly recommend this board for new PC builders due to the ease of use of the BIOS.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy unless you know what you're paying for.

Pros: It works... for a limited time.

Cons: Roughly after owning for about... 11 months. I believe to what is to be a CAPICITOR has already begun to blow on the board. I have a annoying buzzing sound. Coming straight from the cpu area of the board. Its either a blown capacitor or Bad VRMS. Either way. This board is NOT cut out for AM+3 CPU'S and should be banned for false advertisement. I'm uploading a youtube video of the sound.

Other Thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAtWL_Ti3F8 Here is the video. You have to listen very closely to the ticking/scratching/buzzing sound.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty sata

Pros: from msi...

Cons: had a faulty sata controller. would not boot from or read hard drives. i actually purchased a new hardrive thinking mine had bit the dust. found out it was the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: everything else but the sata worked fine.

2 out of 5 eggsCHEAP PRODUCT

Pros: Works fine with none FX CPU series

Cons: This MSI product is by far one of the worst i have ever came across. MSI knows that this product is not FX ready and they still promote it on the box. If you use any of the FX CPU starting from the FX6300 you are running the risk of losing both your Motherboard and CPU all together. Please do some reaserch before purchasing this cheap product.

I aldo don't understand why Newegg has a combo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1624227) with this product on it. The case in the combo comes with USB3.0 and this product doesn't support it. The combo also includes an FX 8320 CPU and that's also not supported by this product.

Please do research on what you are buying or you can end up spending double when trying to save some cash.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Price, Performance, Features, SLI x8,x8

Cons: No USB3 header on-board. I've had this board for close to 2 years. The on-board sound has failed, so I popped in a creative 5.1 channel sound card and all is well again.

Other Thoughts: I've had success with FX6100 95Watt, FX 8350 125Watt, and Phenom II X4 125Watt CPUs. FYI, I don't overclock at all. If I need faster,I buy faster.

2 out of 5 eggsBoard began to act up 3 months after use

Pros: It was a cheap board that was packed with good features that you typically find in other motherboards at a sub $100 price range. It has a very attractive look, which is something I've always praised MSI over.

Cons: The board would restart my OS after only a few minutes or hours of use. No matter what I did fixed it. I wiped and did a clean install of windows 7, made some setting changes, etc. Nothing worked. If it was windows 7 or a driver issue, wiping the hard drive would have fixed it. But it was, indeed, the board. I haven't had any problems with the new board that I now have, which is the Gigabyte 970a-UD3P. Many people have also reported different problems with this board tons of times, so going with this board just isn't worth it in my opinion. It ended up costing me more money.

Other Thoughts: I originally did a review on this board a few months ago. It was completely fine whenever I did the review, but just days after posting it I started to have trouble. If you're looking for a motherboard, just get the Gigabyte 970a-UD3P motherboard. It has a very good thermal design and is a much better board overall. Would not recommend this board to anyone, at all.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control?

Pros: Is very nicely labled.

Cons: Doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I could get this to boot twice. This appeared to happen at random over the last 3 weeks.

Contacted MSI and got a quick responce with a request for more info and some things to try.

Due to work schedule it took a while to try all they suggested but I did so and sent the info and results of my attempts back to them.

Have heard nothing back from them on that at all.

Due to some of the things I tried at their suggestion I am convinced that there is some sort of fault in the board having to do with the power and/or reset circuits.

This is because it boots occasionally if that corner of the board is supported. It is not supported when in the case.

My assumption is that they have poor quality control for boards that they sell rather than install in their own cases. Of coarse that QC could also be bad but I have never owned one of their boxes so can make no such assumption.

I would happily have tried another of these boards if I had gotten a second reply from them.

As is I will not use any of their products from now on.
