2 out of 5 eggsgood while it worked

Pros: Of the 4 RMAed motherboards I have gotten 2 of them worked for a total of probably around a year.

Cons: Had 3 or 4 failed motherboards and RMAs.

Other Thoughts: Still waiting on another RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Board Ever

Pros: I received this board on time and even before I opened it I was impressed, It was not a lite board like some others I have ran across. After opening the package and looking at the documentation I was really happy the instructions where clear and precise I have built a few PC's in my time but was new to the newer equipment. I seen some bad reviews on here and it almost scared me away but I am glad I did other research and after a long search I decided on this . I had a REALLY easy built putting this into my Blackhawk case and am also happy with it. I do not overclock but do game and don't see a need. I run it about 8 to 12 hours a day and have had it 5 months now and have had NO problem . The BIOS is so much better then my old p4 and a lot better then some other PC's I see. I am going with MSI video card next It will not be EVGA because they kept returning a dead card to me 5 times over I have never had a problem with MSI . GREAT PRODUCT . Anyone building a pc my advice is simple make SURE!!! you do not let static get to your components I have seen so many so called TECHS fry their build doing it on carpet not using a wrist strap or anything. I ground myself out and do my build in my non carpeted kitchen. I seen some bad reviews and have told people about this board and 3 others have used it and have had no problems . More advice I only put in the drivers I hate that bloat ware and I don't use live update I put in windows then did bios update and drivers through their website witch also was nice and simple . I also LOVE the L.E.D. it shows CPU temp and their is also a row of status L.E.D's both can be turned off I do believe . Stable and fast and low power consumption . Thanks MSI!!!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Those having problems had a bad one or they did a bad job my experience is there will always be some bad products come out of a factory but when it comes to PC building it is usually due to excitement and not taking time to read and also like I said static electricity.

1 out of 5 eggsWay too problems

Pros: When it worked was stable enough, but that only lasted about a month.

Cons: After a month began to crash, would turn off computer and when I turned it on, would power up, and shut off repeatedly. Called tech support and they were actually pretty rude, the tech even went as far as telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and the board was fine. Updated the BIOS and even got a new video card (Also MSI) and it seemed to fix the problem. A month later the problems started again, called support and this new tech told me to switch put the video card again, because there was no way it was the board. So I did, paid shipping and everything, it didn't fix the problem. The overclocking button made things worse. Finally got a tech that actually did research and had me switch to the back up BIOS because the first one was bad, said keep the board it would be fine, he also said I need 1.65 volt ram to run the board not 1.5. this process took a couple of months. The board ran fine for about a year, then yesterday a message came up saying "Over clocking Failed resting to old configuration", didn't have it enabled...and the computer won't boot up now. This board for me at least is high maintenance and not worth the time. MSI customer service is a joke and I'm never buying from them again, even the video cad crash and I went to another maker. If you stay with them on mother board, do you research carefully, they used to be quality, but I guess that's in the past.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It comes with a 3 year Manufacturer Warranty.

UEFI bios boots fast and is easily configurable from within windows using the bundled software.

Cons: Not very reliable. Mine failed after a few months. It was reporting a RAM error. The ram was tested in other motherboards and was found to be working fine. Also, other ram known to be working was inserted and it still reported the error. (Error code 55 if you're interested).

Only 1 connection for additional USB 3 ports.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried the Overclocking genie yet. My components are good enough without it. Might try it sometime in the future.

I had the board replaced under warranty when it failed. The one customer support sent back was DOA. Had to pay shipping to have it replaced again. Luckily I had another computer to use during the month this one was unavailable.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I love this mobo. Nice price and fits all my needs. The mobo has a dual BIOs switch so you can switch between BIOs. It makes upgrading your BIOs real simple if need be and reverting even easier. The onboard overclock is cool also if that's you're thing.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB, even better service from MSI

Pros: Everything you could possibly need in a mobo built with the best components. If you have a failure, MSI's RMA service is one of the best there is.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I own two of these, the older one developed a POST loop. RMA with MSI was very quick and painless. RMA experience was so good that I didn't even take any eggs off.

If you are debating between this and another board, get this just for MSI's service!

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Stable when working, fast, loads of features, 3 year warranty!

Cons: This is a really serious board built for the hardcore. I consider myself an enthusiast but at the end of the day I’ll take stability and dependability over performance any day. So the giant MILITARY CLASS III mil certified nonsense staring at me from the box put my mind at ease. I knew that there may be times in life I may have 99 problems but this motherboard shouldn’t be one. Needless to say when I went to power it up one day and it got stuck on the debug code 55 powercycle of death. I sat there staring at the gold certificate that comes in every box, scratching my head asking myself why would they make it seem like this board will take a bullet for you but in reality it can’t even deal with the mild climate of southern California. Perhaps this wasn’t the battlefield they had in mind when they threw some arbitrary certification on it. Maybe it’s my fault for not working it hard enough, for not overclocking it and for running it at stock speeds. Maybe it got bored and decided to kill itself. Who knows? Begrudgingly I’ve purchased another because I needed this beast up and running ASAP instead of waiting around weeks to get it warrantied through the manufacturer. Short of MSI refunding the cost of the second board I would never recommend another MSI product to anyone nor shall I ever put a component they make in another build. It’s probably just my luck but I still feel I’ve been done wrong.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great until it didn't.

Pros: Overclocking was really easy with this board and it had more than enough sata and pci slots for me. The capacitors were spaced well enough that I did not have any problem using liquid cooling. The LED error reporting is also nice instead of the old way of listening for a certain beep pattern. Dual BIOS

Cons: Board failed after about a year of use. Bios 1 failed first with an error about an early northbridge initialization, rebooting every 3 or 4 seconds. The only way I could get the computer back in action was to switch to bios 2. I tried to clear the CMOS and, after the first bios failed, I flashed it with the latest bios. Then, a few months later, bios 2 failed in the exact same way and now I'm dead in the water.

Other Thoughts: I didn't want to mess with an RMA so I just bought an
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO instead.

1 out of 5 eggscustomer service

Pros: I wrote a review, pointing out the mobo was damaged When it arrived in mail and they said it a user caused problem and no it wasn't damaged by mail carrior or me. I've built computers for years I know how to handle mobo's. When I removed plastic cover for CPU pins I had nocticed the mobo had bent pins, when ever you all or your machine placed plastic cover on my mobo it bent my pins. im now deducting 4 EGGS for poor customer service. The mother board it self is great mobo.

Cons: Poor customer service

Other Thoughts: Less damage to my mobo please.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Bent pins is an user-induced damage but not courier's fault, see below for the proper installation procedures (shown in the user's manual as well).

Proper CPU installation procedures:
1. Open metal cage first by releasing lever without removing the plastic cover (Warning! Do not remove the plastic cap first).
2. Insert processor into the socket.
3. Close the metal cage and secure the lever, plastic cover will come off automatically.

In order to replace this motherboard, we will charge you a $45 to process a replacement.
Please feel free to get in touch with us to proceed with this OOW RMA request by calling our tech support team directly at 626.271.1004 for assistance during regular business hours from M to F, 9am to 6pm Pacific Time, or you can email us at usreview@msi.com, thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MoBo for $154.99

Pros: - This motherboard has the best BIOS I've seen so far
- High quality board layout for an affordable price
- Very easy to to install and the board is properly labeled

Cons: - I replaced my Micro-ATX with this board and one of the problem is that, my RAM is now touching the CPU fan. It didn't used to with my Micro-ATX.
- There is an extra standoff required for Micro-ATX (just below the first PCIe slot) that should be removed. If this is not removed, it shorts the board and causes many issues including setting up a Network. This standoff needs to be removed before installation since it may cause this board to fry.
- No warning about this shorting area on the board...I have to dig the information up.

Other Thoughts: - After figuring out the standoff issue, the board ran smoothly.
- This issue is well documented in the MSI website/forum...not sure why it's not included as a warning in the instruction booklet.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat but I had to self repair it.

Pros: Worked great once I fixed it.

Cons: I deducted two Eggs for being damaged when arrived in mail. The CPU pins were bent, so had to get a magnifying glass and a needle to bend them back in place. It did make look on tech forums for like a week and took a PSU back made me angry, after search all through mobo finally solved problem.

Other Thoughts: Less damage to mobo please.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We must inform you that bent pins is an user-induced damage, see below for the proper installation procedures (shown in the user's manual as well).

Proper CPU installation procedures:

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: Dual bios switch
Error code LED
4 fan headers-Although a dual CPU header option would have been nice.
OC Genie-Nice for the novice.

Cons: As mentioned above would have liked to had dual CPU fan headers. Not enough to knock off an egg.
Overclocking can be a little touchy. Had to play with it for a while to get it stable @ 4.6GHz. on a 3770k.

Other Thoughts: I have always liked MSI video cards but this is my first MSI mobo and for the price it has a lot of features. I liked it enough to buy another for my DC farm because I usually run 2 mobos off of 1 power supply but have not been able to do that with these 2 boards. Maybe I missed something. Will update later if successful. All in all a very solid board. After the fiasco I had with my latest Asus board MSI may become my new board of choice.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Bad !!!

Pros: Says Military Class III (Heh...)

Cons: The list is far too long but here are a few. This was both before I updated BIOS and after BIOS update.

1. Boot menu would not list Sata drives in proper order, sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't.

2. Whenever the drives were listed wrong the OS would install and run incorrectly or not install at all.

3. Windows 7 would run OK but drivers were terrible and had to use DVD because online driver USB 3 was open file warning.

4. On Windows 8 64x Pro if the computer was shut off and you powered it back on there was no LAN. If you reboot the computer you get LAN.

5. When monitor would go to sleep after 10 minutes about 1 hour into sleep it would half wake up with dark screen and pointer in middle of screen.

6. All of my Sata connectors are not reliable. I had to switch sata cable order 4 times just to get Windows 7 Pro 64x on system. This is on a brand new Corsair SSD, same problem with new WD Black drive. I bought brand new high end Sata cables hoping it was the cables but I was not so lucky, it is this motherboard.

I could go on and on but I am frustrated and tired of working on this board. I build computers for a living and this is by far the worst board I have ever delt with. I will never buy MSI again. Do yourselves a favor and by the ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard. You will pay $149.00 and thank yourself everyday you power on your computer. Can't wait for the weekend to end so I can order my ASUS board and trash this MSI board.

Other Thoughts: When I talked with Tech support I would get a totally different answer from every tech I spoke with. BTW, all the answers were wrong. I am done with MSI and to say this board is Military Class III must be for a 3rd world military LOL...

Pros: Beautiful Board lot of connections good software

Cons: None Really

Other Thoughts: If you are going to update your BIOS do so before you install Windows because if you do it after Windows will not boot with the UEFI and you will need to re install Windows

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 1 year

Pros: Looks cool, Status LED's, OC, Power, & Reset buttons on board, Easy Bios Interface, Dual Bios, Lots of features for a mid $100 board.

Cons: Died after 1 year, SATA & USB 3.0 connectors were flimsy and wiggled, Power LED was either backwards on the board or the manual was wrong.

Other Thoughts: No OC or anything extra ordinary. All vanilla. Died right before I was going to play a long night of SWTOR with the Guild and take on the Nightmare Mode Stuff. Very disappointing.

MSI Forum was very helpful. Tried anything and everything to fix it. Inspectd every inch for damage...founf none.

Bought a new motherboard b/c I didn't want to wait the month or so for a fixed/new one under warranty. That one is working fine.

I posted praises about a month after I bought this one so this is not just negative bash post. I post either way. Should not die after a year though. Still under warranty so we'll see how MSI handles it.

Still like MSI and have had great success with other boards I have bought from them. When/if I get this one back, I'll use it as a spare or for a new build.

2 out of 5 eggsAnnoyed.

Pros: It works great if I do not turn my computer off.

Cons: Driver sucks. Every time I turn my computer off, when it loads, the driver for my Ethernet does no work. I spent roughly 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong, from new drivers, old drivers, and even changing the power management as suggested in a few cases. I am not the only one with this problem. I am able to fix it by rebooting after I get in which sucks considering I am normally in a rush when I turn it on and hate spending the extra time. I am giving this 2 eggs instead of one for mainly because I can leave my pc on 24/7 and not have this issue which runs up power a bit.

1 out of 5 eggsAnothe bad

Pros: The second GD-65 board came in.

Cons: This one had a defective Lan jack. Sent it back but as I had applied for the rebate I cannot return so it is on its way back to me. Not a very good paper. I guess I will RMA it to MSI. I know they will send another board & I will have a rebuilt board instead of a new board that I paid for. And I was tried of waiting so I bought a different board. Well I'll have an extra board & if I buy a case & a HHD, & aCPU I will have enough parts to build a new machine.

Other Thoughts: A little disappointed with this & I do understand That they wouldn't take back the board because I removed the SN from the box. But I also received a email from the rebate center & they have declined the rebate. I am seeing the humor in all this & I have a smile on my face. Life is too short to let this stuff ruin my day. Hope you all have better luck.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Board

Pros: I really think MSI is a good company but this is a bad board & I suspect it was returned before. It was not sold to me as an open box. But came with ASUS drivers so someone must have been in the box. This is a follow up review.

Cons: This board would not OC & it would not run my memory at the correct speed. Newegg was good about letting me return the board & I really appreciate both their & MSI's customer support The 1 star is only for the performance of this particular board. I would still strongly recommend both Newegg & MSI! Very good support from both companies.

Other Thoughts: It is a lot of down time & extra work when products fail but it is a good feeling when the companies that make & supply the products stand behind their customers.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst MSI I've bought in a while, Love it

Pros: The additional sata ports built into the motherboard make this an extremely attractive choice for those of us who have large numbers of drives in our system. While I've been using Gigabyte boards for quite a while now I decided to give MSI a try, and I was not disappointed. I particularly liked the OC Genie feature, allowing me to easily perform a modest overclock on my I7-3770k to 4.2 ghz with just the push of a button.

Cons: The BIOS layout seemed a bit strange at first. It took a little poking around to find everything. It wasn't a huge problem getting adjusted to it, just seems like some of the items are in categories that are not exactly intuitive at first.

Other Thoughts: All in all I'm quite happy with the motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Really great motherboard, haven't had any problems with it. The BIOS is extremely easy to use and it looks fantastic. Overclocks really well.

Cons: The VRM heatsink is a little big and makes it difficult to install radiators in the top of the fan.

Other Thoughts: BUY THIS MOTHETBOARD

5 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboad

Pros: System booted up first try, and has been stable ever since. The board was easy to install as long as I followed the instructions carefully. I play On-line games and on the computer ALOT. My computer is almost always on playing MMOs and a year later this motherboard is till going strong, no problems whatsoever. UEFI BIOS is great! Over-clocking is so easy!

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Good MB & I do recommend it. I had for 11 months & it developed a problem. MSI stood behind the product & replaced it. However the replacement has 2 bent pins so I didn't even try to install it. Decided to just order a new unit.
The box from that it came in was bowed in & I thought for sure the MB was ruined. It was missing some of the parts & some of the documentation that comes with MSI boards. And the drivers that came in the box from the factory were from ASUS & for the New P8Z77-V. This has to have happened at Newegg not at MSI. They will not address this in our correspondence but they did issue a 25 dollar credit.

Cons: For the lack of sending what was sold & for not even trying to address the driver problem I am deducting two eggs from Newegg for very poor service.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice Board work as advertised. Nice Bios/Effi.

Cons: Worked very well for 11 months. Then refused to boot. Sent in RMA & per the Tech that I spoke with I returned entire products supplied with MB. Board has been replaced but unfortunately they have keep all other items. They are going to send me an I/O shield so I am waiting on that. Just wish they would return the M jacks & OC guide & install books.

2 out of 5 eggsError after 7 month

Pros: love the blue and black color as Inter

Cons: I just want it to be stable, however after 7 months, it suddenly went into the so-called boot loop with LED debug code 19/20 with/without memory. It seems like a bios failure based on the other reviews. I will try the other bios tonight:(

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
The POST code indicates an issue with chipset initialization, therefore please try the following.
1. Remove all memory modules, verify the code.
2. Remove the CPU and verify the pins on the socket on ther motherboard, take close-up pictures.
Send all of the above data to us at usreview@msi.com and we can verify it for you.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked OK, until the BIOS went.

Pros: Nice blue color?

Cons: BIOS went bad

Other Thoughts: First BIOS went bad. Had to argue with MSI tech support to do an advance RMA to replace THEIR faulty product. After the back and forth with the tech support person they finally agreed (after they placed a $200 charge on my credit card of course), but then just to find out it that they didn't have it in stock.

No further solution was given by MSI.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked well until it didn't

Pros: Solid board, worked great for the last year. I didn't use many of the bells and whistles but it got the job done for an Ivy Bridge i5.

Cons: Failed a year on. Military grade ha. My computer is my livelihood, I can't wait 2 weeks to RMA a broken part. From the rest of the reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one who thought military grade meant something.

Other Thoughts: MSI customer service is rather curious. Call one number, get directed to call another. Finally get through the message system to a person and then I'm directed to the website. Avoid.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Great motherboard with great features from MSI. Easily setup and easy to navigate through the bios. A wonderful board all around. Have had no problems.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Would buy again. MSI makes a similar board but a gamer edition , that is also wonderful. This was my second purchase from MSI and am not disappointed yet again. Looking forward to buying more MSI products!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Great board...well built...I've built 6 in the past year all all use MSI boards. Three use this particular board. I've been very rough with one and it still works great. I've used I3 and I7 Ivey Bridge chips and Sandy Bridge chips.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you have problems with this board its probably something you've done or overlooked. I always keep canned air on hand and blow the boards off before mounting the chip. I love the BIOS setup. Dont forget to load the drivers from the included disc and the check device mgr. to make sure all the drivers are loaded. I've always use Windows 7 pro 64. If you use cheap parts you get what you pay for !

1 out of 5 eggsNew MoBo Won't Boot and Chrome says MSI website contains malware

Pros: None.

Cons: New build, all new components. Motherboard won't post. No video, no beeps. Error code is 35 or 36, which seems to indicate that it's CPU related. When trying to investigate this issue on MSI's website, Chrome tells me the forums are full of malware and won't let me view them. (Google says it last scanned MSI's site today and found malware today.)

So I've got a board that doesn't work from a manufacturer whose site is infected with malware. I should have bought something else.

1 out of 5 eggsUPDATE

Pros: It looked nice, It overclocked decently, and OC gene works awesomely, I never want to go back to the old school bios UEFI is very easy to use.

Cons: The PCI-E slots died, after a few months of having this board my video card was being detected, device manager or the bios. I tried many different video cards that worked in other rigs, in all lanes.

Other Thoughts: It was a good board, I put 1 egg because it was military class and expected it to last more that 1 year.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: No Pros since it never worked from the start.

Cons: It didn't work, lol.

Other Thoughts: I got it in and made sure all the connects were where they needed to be and started it up....

This is my second MSI MB. The first one I loved all the features that came with it but it died just a year and a half after having it so decided to try them again. With the first not having a very long life span and this one being DOA I'm thinking I'll be going to a different brand.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: I've built three units using this board. One unit using aZ68-GD65 and one using a P55-GD65 all using Intel Ivey Bridge, Sandy bridge I7s, I5s and I 3s. I have really abused one of the Z77s and the Z68. The P55 hums along without missing a beat and is my "everyday puter". Never had any problems with any of the boards.

Cons: I haven't found any yet. I had literally thrown one Z77 in the trash but a few days later realized it was the power supply which would come on and then go off. After I got it out of the dumpster and washed the food and trash off the board it went on working to my amazement. Wow...tough; I still think it has a dried green bean on it just below the CPU socket.

Other Thoughts: I wish MSI would make a water cooler like that of the Corsair 100i so I wouldn't have to buy anything from Corsair.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Board

Pros: Installation was a breeze. It posted without any flaws. Very nice board. Not to mention its beauty, along with Click BIOS II.

Cons: There is only one con, the debug led... The led reads out the temperature of the cpu after a certain bios update, that doesn't bug me at all. What does bug me is the fact that it is GREEN... Why put a GREEN debug led on a blue/black motherboard??? Honestly MSI what sense does that make? As far as I can tell there is no way to change the color or just turn it off. I've tried by searching the bios for little over an hour, but nothing, not even in forums....

Other Thoughts: Other than that LED I love this board. Its packed full of features that even some high dollar boards don't come with. If you are looking to get it, you wont be disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsI expected better from a top brand.

Pros: Has a dual BIOS, Able to over clock memory and CPU with OC Genie.

Cons: This comes with a dual bios and one of them gets corrupt within a month.
Theres a connection problem with the on-board LAN and the drivers available on the MSI site do not fix the problem.
I tried to RMA the motherboard but I was told I'd have to pay for the shipping. I WILL NOT PAY FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT.
Lastly, you get a refurbished board in return. Sorry, but I would like a new replacement.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: VERY stable Motherboard
OC has been amazing, I can get 4.7GHz out of my i5-3570K @ 1.248v
BIOS has a good deal of tweaking settings, make sure to update once you install the board.
Plenty of PCI Express slots and are properly spaced
Decent distance from the RAM to the CPU for installation of RAM with lower profile heat spreaders and large CPU heatsinks
Price is best bang for the buck you can get!

Cons: Can be pretty picky when trying to max your OC, Took me 2 weeks to dial in the right settings to get my i5-3570K to 4.7GHz, stick with it and you will get a high overclock. For some reason it likes PLL Voltage to be lower than 1.7v for a high OC, currently have mine at 1.65v

Other Thoughts: The gamer version of this board isn't much different, it has a better NIC and can accept slightly higher OC'ed RAM

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute trash

Pros: None

Cons: Both bios were corrupted in less than 6 months. From what? Who knows.

Other Thoughts: MSI's technical support is utterly useless. No trouble shooting attempted, just "RMA out of your own pocket because we know we've made a shotty product!" I've never bought a quality MSI product, and shunned this garbage company for years. Read a couple of good reviews, decide to give them a shot and look, they're up to their same old dirty tricks of manufacturing garbage.

If you have ANY technical know-how, avoid this board at all costs. There is a nifty "clear cmos" button at the back that's purely aesthetic and does absolutely nothing. I invite you to google "Error 55 z77a gd65" or "gd65 boot looping" and you'll see.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I want a refund, plain and simple. I want my $200 back.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please note that error code 55 indicates the connection between processor's IMC and memory are corrupted, which is caused by bent pins.
To verify, please kindly remove the CPU slowly and carefuly and inspect the socket pins to make sure there are no bent pins, if there are bent pins then you will be charged a $45 fee to replace it and Newegg will not refund you because of physical damage caused to the motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsStable board

Pros: Stable board. Great OC with Genie. Testing Virtu MVP with Intel 4000 and GTX 460.

Cons: RAM won't clock to 1600, stays at 1333. XMP doesn't work and I don't feel like messing with the timing manually since the board is running stable at 4.2.
Will eventually try to get it to work but will wait.
Turned off THX since it looks like it clashes with HD Real Audio when playing games (sometimes mutes dialog)

Other Thoughts: This is a great board that has decent overclocking. Only using OC Genie and that is acceptable to me.
Intel i7 3770K 3.5 OC at 4.2
16gb Team 1600 running at 1333 (will NOT go to 1600) - came with free 8gb Team RAM (Vulcan) and bought Dark since they are both 1600 9-9-9-24.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

i7-3770K's default memory speed is 1600MHz therefore you should be able to clock it to 1600MHz.
Have you tried turning on XMP without doing any overclocking?

5 out of 5 eggsWinner

Pros: Not perfect but I do ♥ it! This was my first build so documentation was important and its included for both the Hardware & Software. Looks awesome w/ the Blue & Black color scheme! I haven't had a need to O?C yet but it's available. Lots of features and I appreciated the BIOS setup, the MSI Live Updates click & forget. Audio sounds sweet!

Cons: I appreciate this Mobo the gripes I have are not worth docking an egg, but hopefully viewed as area's of considerations for readers & MSI for their next. Gen.
1. Biggest gripe is with the Front Panel connector Pins - there too and feel like they will come loose if the PC is move about.
2. The Audio Header was a hard reach for the header was lower back corner & the Corsair Case Font Panel connecters top.
3. I/O panel too flimsy, flex too much while installing the board
4. More Fan headers needed, most newer Mid Tower Cases support 5 to 9 fans! Plan on purchasing a Fan Controller.

Other Thoughts: i5 - 3570k **** ♥
Z77A-GD65 ****♥
Corsair 300r Case ** Not so much!
Corsair Power Supply 500w ( Didn't include mounting screws -wanted me to return a working unit for screws???
Sapphire Radeon 7770 ♥ it
Kingston Ram 2400mhz O/C **** Great if your comfortable w/ upping voltage to 1.65
NZXT Sentry II Fan Controller **

5 out of 5 eggsLove this thing!

Pros: I just love everything about this board. I have not been this impressed with a peace of hardware in a long time. The click-able bios is easy on the eyes and easy to navigate. The on board digital read out of the boot sequence made the bad stick of ram I got easy to diagnose. Took me less than 3min to trouble shoot the problem and pop some other ram in.

Cons: None that i have found so far.

Other Thoughts: I have not started to overclock yet but I'm sure with all the options for speed and voltage a good stable clock should not be an issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Excellent performance
Clear, detailed documentation
No setup or reliability problems
Solid-looking, attractive design

Cons: MSI's optional driver updating software isn't always up-to-date, which defeats its purpose. Don't bother with it.

Other Thoughts: Pictures don't convey how attractive this design is. The metal-enclosed portions are a nice touch. The mouse-driven BIOS is easy to use and has some excellent features.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Choice

Pros: I bought this after going back and forth between this and an ASUS board. I had used ASUS in the past with success, but I took a gamble on MSI and it paid off. There is nothing wrong with this board for what I needed. The OC genie is actually a pretty cool feature. Bush a button, boot up and your a automatically overclocked. Very stable and everything works well. Plus it is a great price!

Cons: I am a little disappointed that 2 days after I received this it is now being packed with 8GB of free RAM... but that is life.

Other Thoughts: Great choice with great features. Does everything I need it to.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB at Great Price

Pros: Fast, Reliable, Lots of Features, Decent Price

Cons: I can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these to use in a media server build since it has 8x SATA which will keep me happy for a long time. I did have some issues with the built-in Intel gigabit port and Win 8 x64, but since flashing to the latest bios, I haven't had any issues. I used to buy only ASUS motherboards, but I thought I would give MSI a try, and I have been so pleased that I decided to buy a second one to rebuild my main PC. They are both running great.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board

Pros: Great board.

Cons: The SATA sockets are angled at 90 degrees, on my system they face the back wall of the case which makes it difficult to plug in the hard drives after the board is mounted in the case.

I didn't deduct a rating since it is a minor drawback.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent and stable board

Pros: Stable, easy install and overclock. Appears well made. Highly recommended.

Cons: I am not in love with the look and feel of the BIOS. I have had quite a few ASUS and Gigabyte boards and the "old style" bios adjustments seem to be more intuitive. I also prefer the ASUS program for checking temps. The MSI program is similar to Gigabyte's with the various overclock options. Personally I like to overclock, check stability and temps, and leave it as is.

I also do not like the SATA location but ASUS and most other do the same thing.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great board for the price. I did not have trouble taking off the stickers as some others have complained (slowly remove and not glue remaining) or having issues with standoffs.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Lots of features. Lower cost than some boards. Color Scheme isnt bad. Access Bios from Windows. Seems like it would be easy to over clock on this bad boy. Power and Reset switch on the board.

Cons: The flashing led's on the mother board can get a little annoying.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried over clocking my 3570k yet but do expect to in the future. Seems like it would be easy with this board. Was looking at a ASUS sabertooth before and some people suggested this board. Im glad I bought this:
A) Its cheaper
B) Some features seem to be better than the Sabertooth.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Nailed it

Pros: Looks Great, Posted first try, Overclocked to 4.2ghz with a single press of the OC Genie button, Running solid for 1 week on new build. Black and Blue theme looks great with blue lighting. CPU temp visible on board at all times

Cons: Front panel connections could be placed and labeled a little better. Entire board is black and blue including the lighting of the OC Genie button... Except the lights of the temp and on board power/reset button are green for some reason... Switch these to blue so the WHOLE board looks uniform. (i know... VERY minor issue)

Other Thoughts: Love the board and am about to build another system for a friend and will prob use the same board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO

Pros: Best option for the money, Have used MSI mid to high level mobo's for all my custom rig builds for last 12 years. Great products, my first MSI purchase 12 years ago was a value low end and it is still running in the den hooked to a tv. Better quality parts and construction for the price point than anything I have found. MSI gives you great control for mid level users looking to advance, and high end users alike

Cons: None, never had an issue with any of the MSI products I have purchased over the years

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a good 3rd gen intel fit like an I-7 3770k (unlocked) this is a great option, the Thermaltake FRIO cpu cooler does work with this board and an I-7 3770k in a haf 932 case no issues.

2 out of 5 eggsCPU Pins Messed up

Pros: Great Motherboard Except for the fact that both of them that I have ordered has had problems with the Processor pins. the first one had an easy fix. (more explination below)

Cons: Processor pins were bad and had to be fixed

Other Thoughts: The first MoBo only had one pin that was bent incorrectly. I simply bent it back into place and it works still to this day.
(it gave an error code "dE" which was not in any manual)

The second MoBo had more than 8 pins that were messed up and have ordered a refund/exchange through newegg.com (great help)

The way i found out if the pins were not working correctly is on the bottom of the processor chip you can see where good contacts were made and were there were no contacts made.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Bent pins are caused from opening the cover by hand directly which should had not been done in the first place.
In the user's manual, you needed to release lever to open cover, install the processor, close the cover and secure the lever and the cover will pop out by itself.
Opening the cover directly will damage the pins.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works. well worth it's price.
power button on the board
bios switch
fancy looking
oc genie at the press of a button
over im very pleased with it.

Cons: very very sensitive. you cannot screw this mb in tight at all. or it won't turn on. im sure thats with alot of mb but this one in particular is something else. when i got it i put everything in a new case but when it was time to turn it on nothing activated. naturally i thought it was my power supply but it wasn't. nor was it anything else. which points to the board itself. i began to think it could have been defective seeing how it couldnt even post while it was in the case. so i took it out and it posts just fine. out of all the screws it has on the board i only have maybe 6 of them actually in. anymore would make it unresponsive.

Other Thoughts: Didn't get the free 8gig ddr3 ram that was suppose to be a free gift.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Hands down my favorite board out of the 3 pc's I have built for myself. The board looks great and I have built a beast system around it(see other for specs). Very happy with my purchase

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: OC Genie is good for people scared of oc(even though ivy/sandy are stupid easy to oc), it put my 3570k with a H100 at 4.2Ghz if I can remember. I manually bumped it up and have been at 4.5Ghz for almost a year now with ZERO issues!

System around this board:
Core I5 3570k @ 4.5Ghz
Corsair H100 stock fans
MSI Z77A-GD65
16GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1866Mhz memory(4x4GB)
GTX 670 SLI
XFX 850 watt 80+ Bronze PSU
OCZ Agility 4 boot SSD
1TB Samsung spinpoint F3 storage drive
500GB WD Black games drive

You won't be disappointed with this board :)

5 out of 5 eggsAs advertised

Pros: Everything works exactly as advertised; love the BIOS and the OC utility. Didn't have any problems with the board at all.

Cons: Like all motherboards, a lot of the inputs aren't labeled as well as they could be, but it shouldn't be difficult to figure out where everything goes for anyone who has built a computer before.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MB if I wasn't having this one problem (read thoughts)

Pros: Comes with lots of SATA ports.
Convenient and easy to overclock with the OC Genie II.
Used OC Genie II as a base to overclock my i5-3570k to 4.6ghz.
Love the UEFI bios, making navigation much easier.

I would say the price was well-worth it with all the ports, slots and utility that comes with it.

Cons: OC Genie II not very efficient.
CPU LED can get annoying but can turn it off using the BIOS or MSI Control Center.
While it does come with lots of utility software, some of it can be quite useless or have bugs.

Other Thoughts: Having a weird soft reboot issue, where I will get no graphics but I can hear it passing through boot and entering windows. This issue made it really hard to install the windows OS onto my SSD. Took me 6 times through manually rebooting to get windows OS to finish installing. It was very frustrating. I'm not sure if its my Gigabyte HD 7970 ghz or the motherboard. This issue does not occur on boots or hard reboots, where the power turns off and turns back on.

Anyway, I called MSI to see if they could help me to find the issue. The MSI representative was not very helpful. He told me to install the latest bios and I told him I already did that. He ended up telling me to give him my email and he'll send me a link to the install the latest bios >.< AND the email never came.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Z77a-GD65

Pros: Looks, performance, stability, tech support response time

Cons: tech support answers

Other Thoughts: The MSI Z77a-GD65 motherboard worked great out of the box except 2 little annoyances.
1) Cpu fan speed on the stock intel pwm fan was running at full RPM
2) A annoying system sound of the a usb devise disconnecting over and over again, atleast 10 times a minute.

I contacted msi about the fan and there tech was very disappointing.

MSI Tech.
03/15/2013
page 2-8 in the mb manual which has the descriptions for cpu smart fan target

End User
03/15/2013
Step 1) system start (check) step 2) press delete (check) step 3) enter bios: (check) Step 4) manually set the cpu temp to 50 or 55 degrees celsius ( how to do this?????) inside bios I can't find this setting anywhere, Please can I have a step by step instruction on how to accomplish this task?

MSI Tech.
03/15/2013
in bios setup, please manually set the cpu temp to 50 or 55 degrees celsius and save the setting which then the cpu fan sensor will kick in to control the fan speed.

End User
03/15/2013
I'm using stock intel 4 wire pwm cooler fan, and it is running at full rpm all the time. cpu temps never exceed 40 deg. setup is on test bench so there is no internal case temps. I'm not familiar with bios at all but I can get into the bios. with that said is there a step by step instructions on how to get the cpu fan in pwm mode. Thanks Sincerely SyberShotStudios

No where in my msi mb manual not even pages 1-8 does it show you how to change the cpu fan speed in there new Touch 2 bios. After I searched a bit inside of sub menu's I finally found it. A bit of annoyance but not enough to knock off any eggs

As for the usb disconnecting beeps, the problem stopped after I installed the driver software for the motherboard. Again not enough to knock off an egg.

Other thoughts: This board looks and operates amazingly well. I love the 1 second overclock feature. Though I will not be overclocking anytime soon for I'm running on a stock Intel fan, It will be valuable once I move to a Corsair cpu water cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsLacks voltage OFFSET mode

Pros: Well built, affordable price.

Cons: Does not support adjusting CPU core voltage in OFFSET mode. Every other brand enthusiast mobo has this feature nowadays. With this board, you have to run CPU at a constant, highest voltage - even at no load!

Other Thoughts: Would RMA it if my wife would not throw packaging away

2 out of 5 eggsBEWARE - Not good for Overcklockers

Pros: A lot of perepheral features for a price, well built board

Cons: beware - this board does not have OFFSET feature for adjusting CPU voltage. What it means, if you want to overclock, you would have to set your CPU voltage to the fixed value and it will constantly stay the same. Votlage will not step down as speedstep throttles the CPU.

Other Thoughts: I run CPU demanding tasks about 10% of the time and its a waste of power and CPU lifespan to have voltage set to a fixed value required for the top turbo speed.
Wish I would not throw packaging materials away, so I could RMA this board

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Please note that many customers had preferred the current mode instead of offset, but we are listening and will bring this feature back.
This product is highly overclockable and you can see one example below.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: -It looks nice

Cons: After using my PC since October 2012 on a 4.5GHz overclock running temps no higher than 50 under load the board quit. More precisely I reinstalled Windows and decided to use MSI's live update utility. It installed a program called "Click BIOS II" which I never opened. Since that program installed and asked for a reboot, the primary bios WON'T boot and displays "19" on the LED panel. The second bios will allow the computer to boot but WILL NOT allow you to access the BIOS settings. If I attempt to the computer wildly blinks and reboots.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm disappointed. I'm glad my buddy decided to buy his tower and GPU first as I can now tell him to avoid this board. I gave MSI a chance, even though every tech I know said not to, and I see they weren't wrong.

Done with MSI.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Great for overclocking
UEFI Fast boot is nice
High quality build
Dual-BIOS

Cons: The BIOS freezes up after a few seconds when Windows 8 features turned on and you push F11 to get the boot menu. This doesn't happen if Windows 8 fast boot is off. But it's not that big of a deal anyway.

Other Thoughts: To the person who ranted about the Intel NIC code 10 error. It is not MSI's fault, it's Intel's There is a fix for it. And no, it's not a brass stand off thing.

Go here:

Or search for: 82579VSKU.zip, download it, and update the NIC's non-volatile RAM.

4 out of 5 eggsJust A Minor Issue

Pros: Has everything I wanted in a current motherboard: SATA 6 ports, USB 3.0 header, HDMI connection.

Cons: The SATA connections and the USB 3.0 header are 90 degrees to the board. After mounting this board in the case, I had a very difficult time plugging in the case's USB 3.0 cable into the USB header. I had to remove the mother board off its mounting screws and only then successfully plugged in the USB cable.

At this point, I also decided to plug in the SATA cables and then reinstalled the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad layout. Just wish the USB 3.0 header and SATA connections faced straight up. Would have made things much easier.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board for my first build

Pros: The board has worked almost flawlessly for seven months.

Cons: The sticker on the plastic CPU protector was so hard to remove that it pulled the protector right off, though I tried to hold it down. The memory slots are close to the CPU so that I had to fiddle a bit to get me aftermarket cooler to fit. Good fan control.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and it went quite well. I haven't used the Overclocking Genie or some of the other bells and whistles. The UEFI setup is excellent. Some of the software that comes with it is bloatware, but I simply did not install it. Onboard reset and power buttons are a real help when assembling the components outside the case to make sure everything works.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo but...

Pros: Does what it needs to and works great.

Cons: First one i got was DOA... got a new one back from newegg in 2 weeks. Also the sticker on the back is a pain to take off!!

Other Thoughts: Gave it a 3/5 cause the DOA and then the sticker

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the price

Pros: Flexible, handles OC well, good number of ports, good features

Cons: Could be cheaper, some of the utilities are more like malware than actually useful

Other Thoughts: I bought this board because I intend to upgrade my i5 in a year or so but I don't want to upgrade the mobo either. This board struck the near perfect balance of price and features.

1 out of 5 eggsNever buying MSI board again.

Pros: Features & aesthetics.

Cons: Intel 82579LM Windows 8 error code 10 in device manager "device cannot start". Been all over the MSI and Intel forums, no solutions. Running latest BIOS doesn't help. Shouldn't have to purchase a network card. Its unacceptable MSI is unable to fix this well known issue. The one time I decide to give MSI a shot and what a disappointment. Learned my lesson, stick with Asus, rock solid.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This is caused from improper installation due to extra standoff installed, see below for the FAQ.
http://service.msicomputer.com/html/popup/techsup/formviewer.asp?esoformid=3049

As many reported on the forum, the issue went away after they've removed the additional brass standoff.

5 out of 5 eggs+1 MSI

Pros: -USB 3 support
-SATA 3 support
-3-way SLI for Ivy Bridge CPUs
-Great MSI aesthetics and color scheme
-UEFI BIOS - one of my first experiences with this, pretty nifty
-Pretty nice manual OC support for the OCers
-OC Genie - I've had limited experience with this on a P55-CD53 board. Another nifty feature, but not for serious OCers
-D-sub, DVI, and HDMI video ports on the back panel for those using integrated Intel graphics
-Virtu support for using integrated Intel graphics in conjunction with discreet GPUs if that's your fancy
-Smart Connect support if that matters to you

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I'm a bit of an MSI "fanboi". I love their Intel motherboards and Nvidia graphics cards, I swear by them. They've never let me down, and I think they make some of the highest quality and aesthetically appealing hardware out there. Love the Twin Frozr coolers on their video cards too. Very affective and aesthetically pleasing.

4 out of 5 eggsRelatively trouble free

Pros: Fairly rock solid performer. Flexible enough to fit my needs. Sufficient number of SATA headers was my biggest requirement, and this one has more than most. Had all the tech points at the time I bought it. Makes a very good video and media editor.

Cons: I'm still not so crazy about the UEFI BIOS, I think I'm just old school. I chickened out on adding a VIRTU caching drive, but since I now have installed five 2TB storage drives, along with the boot drive, I think I prefer the storage space a little more. I do miss the CPU temp indicator on the post LED of my last two boards, but that's a small preference to miss. The temps aren't the coolest of my builds, but they aren't more than three to five degrees warmer at any performance comparison to my absolute coolest build. I think I'm having to dig for the cons on this one.

Other Thoughts: Good board for a fairly reasonable price. I work it pretty hard, but I don't do any gaming on it, nor do I overclock. I just want my builds to work for as long as they can on video and all sorts of captured media. If this one works as long as my first two, from back in 2006 on minimally respected Abit mainboards, I'll be happy. Those first two are still going strong with nearly all the original hardware.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A lot of bios options. Good overclocking. Seems like good motherboard cooling. 8 SATA ports, including 4 SATA3. Built in OC Genie for those who don't know how to use the bios options.

Cons: No eSATA on the rear panel. I just assumed before purchasing that it would have them in this price range, but I was mistaken. Not the board's fault, but it should really have some.

Other Thoughts: I bought this and a Gigabyte Z77x-UD3H with the intention of using one as a main rig and the Gigabyte in the home server. Kept this one for use in my main rig, but the lack of eSATA might make me change my mind.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Power and Reset buttons are on the board and they make it very easy to “build” on cardboard and verify the MB and components before assembling them into the case.

Simple to use BIOS. Sturdy board and 9 screw holes available for the stand-offs

POSTed on my first try!

Cons: SATA connectors and the extra USB 3.0 connector are on the side and pointing toward the front of the case.

I read this before the purchase, but still, my case did not provide a lot of room. I had to pre-connect USB 3.0 and SATA cables before I lowered the MB into the case. Despite the user manual stating not to bend the cables at 90 degrees, mine are nearly bent at that angle.

Not enough USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. I bought a USB 3.0 bracket to get two extra ports.

Other Thoughts: I did not plan to overclock since I got i7 3770 instead of 3770K.

Download the latest drivers, BIOS, and essentials from MSI website before you start assembling. A good place to learn about potential issues and workarounds is at MSI forum.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Z77A-GD Z77 LGA1155 R Motherboard

Pros: Good instructions make the installation a snap. The motherboard works as advertised and includes little perks like a pin block for the front case panel connectors to slide onto so minimize confusion as to what goes where. Great product MSI!

Cons: None at this point.

Other Thoughts: After spending a couple of weeks and several trips to Tom's Hardware, I chose this motherboard and will stick with MSI because they make a solid product at a great price.

1 out of 5 eggsRecevied two DOA boards

Pros: No pros that I can think of.

Cons: 1) Board doesn't post

Other Thoughts: Purchased the first board on 12/16/12 to replace a very old Bad Axe II. Also purchased RAM and CPU on same order. Board would not post. I removed all peripherals, still no post. I removed the board from the case and connected only power. Still no post. That board was RMA'd to Newegg.

Second board arrives and exhibits EXACT same issues. Tried different PSUs. Tried different RAM. No post from either board.

I've been building computers for 20 years. I've been a Newegg shopper since 2003. I've never EVER had to RMA a single item in ten years of shopping here. Now, I've RMA'd two items - both the exact same motherboard.

Ordered a replacement MSI board. I installed the CPU and RAM and the board posted first time.

After receiving the result of the first board RMA via email today, I figured I should let everyone know that Newegg turned down the request for refund due to being "received with apparent end-user caused physical damage to CPU socket contact pins."

Sure. After building 25+ computers, this time I didn't check the correct way of installing the most crucial part of the system. Right.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB

Pros: 3 PCIe Slots

Great BIOS, but mine was quite long to load at the begining (2 minutes)

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The SATA plugs were blocked by my graphic card. At least the thought of it and they are heading to the side, but in my case it<s quite difficult to plug anything in it once installed.

4 out of 5 eggsNice mobo

Pros: Very solid motherboard construction. Heat sinks and features galore make this a pretty good value compared to similar offerings. I love the dual bios and it has saved me already. This is my first MSI board and I have to admit I am very impressed. The UEFI isn't as cool as some more expensive brands, but it is nice enough to get the job done and a whole lot prettier than the standard BIOS screens of yesteryear.

Cons: I would have given this 5 stars. I docked a star for two things. First of all, the MSI update software is poorly implemented. I have a MSI GTX 460 hawk talon attack so I was kind of used to the software. I let liveupdate run the automatic update for the motherboard and it buggered the firmware so I had to go back in and flash it myself. It didn't brick and it would still boot just fine, it just had annoying bugs and error notifications. Once I flashed the latest firmware all of the problems were solved. The custom winky linux bit has never worked for me either. It crashed at every launch attempt so I just decided it wasn't worth my time to troubleshoot since you don't need it.

The other thing that bugged me was the cpu heat sink mount. The rest of the board has solid beads to protect it from screws/nuts for mounting. The documentation it ships with recommends a real cpu cooler and not the intel junk. I have a cooler master hyper 212 on it and it was a struggle to keep the nuts from digging into traces on the motherboard. Why not have the same protections as the standoff locations? This particular dig affects several manufacturers. I would like to see boards of this caliber with a bit more meat to hold up some big cpu coolers.

Other Thoughts: I would buy a few of these. It's a great board. Just plan on flashing the firmware and installing driver updates on your own and it will be a flawless board for most users. I would have to cough up more cash to get a similar board with a known brand name and smoother software. The bang for the buck is hard to match on this board.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, came with a slight problem...

Pros: - Beautiful Board

- Nice Layout

- Very nice BIOS

- Power/Restart/OC buttons on the board is quite nice

- If your OC fails and your PC won't boot, after a minute the board will automatically restore your OC to factory settings. A VERY nice feature

Cons: - Came with bent CPU pins which was causing a boot loop issue when I would use the 3rd & 4th slot on my RAM. After an hour or so with a needle I was able to bend them back into position (I don't recommend you try it if you don't quite know what you are doing). I called MSI discussing my rebate because I was too late to turn it in, and while explaining my problem that I had, they informed me if I had wanted to send it back, it was NOT covered under warranty. Really, MSI?

- Front panel connectors are in the middle of the board at the bottom, instead of to the bottom right. Not a big deal if you have long enough front connectors, but for me kind of annoying.

- Annoying little blue flashing light under the last PCI-E slot. Not sure what it is (it seems to go steady the more use you put on your system) or how to turn it off. Not a problem if you don't have a window though (I do)

- On-board audio sucks. It works, don't get me wrong, but the sound is very low compared to my old sound card (it's a legacy PCI card, so I can't use it). Apparently this is just a feature of the board that isn't too great. I would recommend a sound card.

Other Thoughts: 4/5 eggs. It's still a great board and despite some of the flaws, I am happy with my purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat board and layout however faulty

Pros: excellent board layout
quality components (military grade)
excellent cooling capabilities with plenty of room
USB 3.0 support
support of up to 3 graphics cards

Cons: Board boot loops and was received as a brick. Unfortunately I had it forwarded to my current address in Australia where I cannot return it.

Help and support is near impossible.

Only 1 USB 3.0 expansion connector.

Other Thoughts: Great in theory,

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Please kindly inspect the socket pins on the board and make sure there are no bent pins in it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board so far

Pros: Nice layout. EZ build. Reset button on the back of the board. The digital readout on the board is another nice feature. Visually attractive.Good manual. RMA is hassle free. The mobo functions beautifully. Tech support good though not ez to reach. BIOS ez to navigate.

Cons: First board defective but RMA EZ though it took 3 weeks. BIOS update instructions not clear. BIOS display codes should be in manual or website; ditto for beep codes.

Other Thoughts: All in all I'm happy with the board and with the support.

Pros: Wow, Thats All I Can Say. This Motherboard Is Excellent, Theres Nothing I Dont Like About It. It Has The Features To Charge My iPad, It Has An HDMI Port And The Graphics Rating Is 6.6 On Windows Experience. That Is Excellent, I Can Play Games With No Video Card. This Is Just The Top Of The Line. I Would Most Certainly Recommend This To Anyone Looking To Purchase Parts And Build Their Own Computer. This Was My First Build And It Turned Out Excellent.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: Excellent features and cooling.

Cons: The side facing SATA ports. They are a real PITA when it comes to cable management. When routing the cables thru the back of the case the come up right to the very edge of the board leaving almost no room to bend them. It would've been much better if the ports were facing straight up.

Other Thoughts: I like the black/blue color scheme.

Pros: Very stable, excellently engineered BIOS, OC Genie is masterfully done. The board itself is VERY roomy, I have enough room to fit 2 GTX 560ti AND a sound card. Not to mention it's sleek and professional look. Sometimes I catch myself staring through the window of my case at the board, it just looks that good.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: Excellent board, well done MSI. Would purchase again A++++

1 out of 5 eggsStill Having Issues

Pros: I'll highlight the issues I've been having with this board and MSI in my Cons section. I don't have a 100% terrible experience with the board, as when it did work, I enjoyed the features and performance quite a bit. I also really like the way it looks. MSI has done a good job of producing a good looking board.

Cons: When I first received this board, my GTX 670 wouldn't work in the primary PCI-E slot, but other less powerful cards would. The GTX 670 worked in another board so I knew it wasn't the 670. I finally got MSI to accept an RMA of the board after they tried pinning it on Galaxy and the GTX 670.

I get the replacement board about 2 weeks later, and I experienced the same issue as before with my GTX 670 not working in the primary PCI-E slot. Eventually I tried putting my old graphics card in the slot, removing it, and putting the 670 in, and sure enough it worked. I have no idea how putting my old card in and then putting my new card in right after it made the 670 work but I didn't care.

A few weeks later, I leave my PC after a gaming session and come back to find it stuck in a reboot loop. It starts for 1/2 a second, then shuts down, and repeats this. I've tried everything under the sun from clearing the CMOS to testing the PSU. It does it no matter how many or how few components I have plugged into it. No bent CPU pins or anything visible that I can tell is wrong with the board. I suspect BOTH bios may be shot.

I have sent another RMA request to MSI, but have yet to hear a response.

Other Thoughts: Now I'll get to my gripes about dealing with MSI. When I initially sent my board in for the first RMA, I never received any notification as to what they found or what actions they took. Suddenly I just had a MSI board arrive at my doorstep. The invoice said swapped, but I had the same issue as before and this board is having issues again, so perhaps they never did anything at all. I don't know, because they refuse to respond to my inquiry.

As for my second request, I sent an email to their tech support explaining the issue, and they said to give them my first RMA information and they would send me a prepaid label to send the board in...again. I responded and have not heard anything back. I have no idea if they are sending me a label, or just ignoring me like they did when I asked over and over about my first RMA and what they found.

I'm glad that there are people who have had good luck with MSI, but I'm finding dealing with their support staff to be an exercise in extreme patience. It seems like they don't like to communicate with their customers. I've had to order an ASUS board to use in the meantime because I can't afford to be without my PC for 2 weeks or longer while MSI beats around the bush with my motherboard problems, and hopefully I can return it when and if I ever get a working board from MSI.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard

Pros: The BIOS is really easy to navigate and configure. The ability to safely overclock is big plus. The expandability and options on this motherboard are a big plus.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: For those wanting to go crazy overclocking, this may not be the best board. But for those who want a stable, reliable and powerful motherboard, look no further.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: After a very long and exhausting research process, I finally settled on this MSI Z77A-65 board for my new high end Ivy bridge build. I'm glad I did, it has been flawless so far! Very impressed with the build quality, features and easy Overclocking for my 3770K. Good and intuitive BIOS. It's been rock stable, absolutely no issues to report for the 6 months that I owned it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have performed a BIOS update with no problems using MSI guidlines.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board!

Pros: This is a very stable product from MSI. I have not built a ton of computers, but the next one I build will again have an MSI motherboard. No issues with windows on install or during everyday use. The UEFI Bios is easy and intuitive.. And the Board works well with all of my other components. It Also Looks SIMPLY AMAZING! See below..

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: My I7 2700K runs cool at 4.2 ghz (built this rig when the I7 3770K first came up for sale, but the egg was sold out. I was not going to buy it from another e-tailer for $380 so I got the 2700K on sale for $299 right here from the egg..)air cooled by a Zalman cnps9900 maxx R.. I Have 16 gigs of crucial ddr3 1866 o/b running at rated speed (and the led lights are amazing thru my side window, I don't know why anyone would buy any other kind? :D ) Also still using my MSI 5870 Lightning II for SCII.. A Samsung 830 SSD 128 gb for boot with a seagate 320gb for a little xtra room.. Asus dvd burner.. Powered by a Corsair AX850 in an NZXT Tempest EVO Mid Tower.. I LOVE IT!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: received mobo out of the box, everything looked great, turns on, looks good but......

Cons: pcie #1 doesnt work. tried 4 different graphics cards and changed all the settings i could think of. I called msi and told them what i had done, and the tech basically just told me that there are no further steps to take. so now i have to spend my dime to send back a defective product.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great

Pros: Works great, very fast, looks sharp, plenty of connections. Have done lots of un-plugging and plugging back in of the connections, even moved it into a different case already, no issues.

Cons: Sometimes it randomly pops up that I plugged an audio source in for no reason, very bothersome since it minimizes anything else I'm doing. Only does this a couple times a week though.

Other Thoughts: I got this Used-Like New from another website and paid $89. It looked brand new but was missing the retail box so I think it was probably just a damaged box and I got lucky with a new one.
