3 out of 5 eggsNo Problems but now I'm scared

Pros: - Small.
- Gets the job done.
- Price.
- No BSOD, yet.

Cons: - I'm using AMD FX-8350 but now they says it's not supported?
- Can't seem to get ATI Radeon 3000 to display anything.

Other Thoughts: Well, after reading the manufactures comments about the AMD 8350, I'm a little scared that this could fry my CPU. I haven't had any problems yet. The page does say that it supports AM3+ FX and does not mention power limitations, so I hope this doesn't burn out on me. I did have to replace the stock AMD fan because it couldn't support any load and would throttle to windows 95 speeds. The new cooler is working good. The built-in graphics don't seem to work. I think maybe if a pci-e is installed the built-in video is disabled? not sure. I might try to return this.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
If you are not using the system for video encoding, overclocking, or burn-in tools, and you have added more cooling to the system then you will be fine.
The integrated graphics will work if you remove the discrete graphics card. However, if you go to BIOS setup -> Advanced BIOS Features -> Surround View -> Enable, then you can use both internal/external displays at the same time.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Didn't Last Long. Would randomly reset on me, or freeze up and reset. Last time it reset on me the network must have fried. Because I can't get my internet to work. Took about 90 days until it died on me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Have you tried reinstalling the operating system?

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not support FX-8350 well

Pros: Good for 95w CPUs.
Good if you don't use a big graphics card.
Excellent value.

Cons: The one I got couldn't support a FX-8350 as advertised.
Stock speeds, would BSOD when attempting anything that puts somewhat of a load on the CPU. Disabling 2 cores resolves the issue.

SATA ports are right behind the PCIX16 port, terrible design planning in that respect.

Only 1 case fan header, most cases these days come with 2 or more fans.

Other Thoughts: Would have been 4/5 but this board did not meet the specifications advertised. I don't they they should advertise this model as 125W CPU/FX8350 supported if it takes so much out of it.
I have had no issue with any MSI products before this and may buy other MSI products again, but I have to admit that the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 replacement I got for this system is very sexy even though it plays in a different league.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
You are right, this motherboard only supports 95W TDP Vishera processors fully, but it will handle Zambezi 125W without any issues.
This is due to Vishera being underrated therefore they actually use more power in reality than on the paper.
This motherboard is an entry-level product therefore it should not be used to compare against GA-990FXA-UD3.
We have similar product that's comparable which is 990FXA-GD65, or superior model if you take a look at 990FXA-GD80.

1 out of 5 eggsSadly Junk

Pros: It has everything I needed to build a new computer system but

Cons: This board was purchased to use in my new computer I have always had great luck with MSI but when I tried to install windows 7 it kept going to blue screen I changed CPU I tried different memory, differet hard drives(2) different power supply still the same situation I sent it back to Newegg they got me anonother one right away a week or so but it will not install windows 7 it wont even boot to win 7 selection before it restarts

Other Thoughts: I am trying to install a 125W AMD AM3 quad core processor 8GB memory New 250SATA hard drive, DVDRW, 400W Power Supply I know I have only been doing this for 14 years and have seen almost everything but there is no reason for this trouble the board says it supports 125W CPU

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDOA Did Not Work

Pros: Seemed like a cheap board that allowed for 125W CPUs

Cons: Dead on arrival

Other Thoughts: I tried two different AM3 CPUs and neither worked. MSI might have the some quality control issues with this board. Others report poor voltage modules on MSI boards anyhow.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This board is recommended to use processors rated 95W TDP.

3 out of 5 eggsA headache at first, we shall see...

Pros: -Good price for a budget build
-Decent features at this price point
-Would be cake to OC if desired.
-M-Flash worked well (see cons)
Honestly, this could have been a solid 4 egg board...

Cons: -Top row of sata ports is blocked by long GPU's.
-USB 3.0 would have been nice
-Not enough fan headers
-Bios needed flashed for added stability (fingers crossed)
-If a USB hub is attached at boot it freezes at "starting windows" splash screen, something is wrong with the usb controller or the mobo itself, the bios update did not help.
It boots fine without the hub attached.

Overall in the past 2 weeks I installed the OS twice, swapped and tested the HDD's and Ram, flashed the bios... all to find that the usb controller just gets "confused"... I also had to repair the windows start up twice during this time, which is what has me suspecting that there is still lingering issues... time will tell.

I've owned MSI products in the past with varrying degrees of sucess... this is probably my last MSI product.

Other Thoughts: My goal was a budget gaming rig, and I'm very satisfied with my setup overall. I question this motherboard's longevity, and even though I've got it up and running at the momemnt, I'm skeptical of it's actual stability... I hope I'm wrong.

Mobo: MSI 760GM-P34(FX)
CPU: AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz
Ram: G.SKILL Ares 8GB DDR3 1866
GPU: Galaxy GeForce GTX 660GC 2GB
PSU: XFX PRO550W
Case: COOLER MASTER Elite 430
KB/M: Logitech G105 / A4Tech XL-747H

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what its needed

Pros: First time building a rig and started off with this basic board. It was cheap and had the things I wanted. Has enough usb slots, sata ports, supports up to 16gb of ram, and has some good options in terms of choosing processors.

Cons: None so far

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: Good buy for the money, lots of sati slots.

Cons: Came dead on arrival, rmad it and got another one. that one took 25 minutes to post. Going to cut my losses, no way im going to pay more money to ship this product around after two dead units and 65 dollars spend shipping a 50$ motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues you had with this motherboard.

Can you email us(usreview@msi.com) more details about the replacement board regarding the long post? We can try troubleshooting it. If we cannot get it to work, we can pay 2-way shipping for another replacement board since your board is still under warranty.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This motherboard works very well and is fairly straight forward as far as installation is concerned. If you are looking for a small MB that can handle basic computing programs with some margin for more complex applications, this should work well.

Cons: The first MB I received came with the entire back panel dead. There was no power to video, usb, mouse, and keyboard ports. Newegg's RMA policy was very straight forward and easy to deal with. Other than the additional cost of shipping and another week before I could complete the project, the experience wasn't completely negative. The replacement board works fine.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues you experienced with the first board you received. We are glad you got your system running with the replacement.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions. Thank you.
