1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: One of the scant few 775 mobos available

Cons: The memory implementation (of using either DDR2 or 3) apparently is a little too difficult for this company to pull off smoothly! The north- and south-bridges tended to run quite hot as did the memory when installed (DDR2). I had to RMA 2 boards for the same issue. The first one took days to install an OS because it would run hot and crash or freeze. Tried many different sets of known good DDR2 sticks (I have another working 775 (Asus) setup to verify. I bought this board to try out Windows 10 preview when it first came out as I had plenty of good parts left over from my continued upgrade of my original Asus board (unfortunately there were none available). I even updated the BIOS just to be sure. So after much pain and aggravation I returned the first and they promptly replaced it with what is obviously another one that was also RMA-ed, repaired but never checked for other than the issues that prior user complained about. This board had all of the exact same problems but I went through the dance of swapping memory, re-seating my CPU, and so on. It was even more unstable than the first and would not even last long enough without crashing to install an OS. After much time passed being put off by the total failure of 2 boards, I RMA-ed this board and they pulled a good board for me. Ah, it was so easy - pop in the memory, CPU and heat sink, keyboard see that it beeps; add a video card, hard drive, DVD, fire it up. Ta-da! Installed Win 10 in a flash. Runs great.

Other Thoughts: Their RMA service is prompt and the email tag is actually good though an answer takes a long day or even 2 days. So discussing an issue can take some time. That part was actually pleasant but nonetheless something I did not want to experience.
That being said I would never buy another MSI product. I was already aware that they are basically a second tier manufacturer making cheap (in quality and price) products.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly (JPWR1 and JPRW2), Clease CMOS.
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Older motherboard that promises keep some old favorites (software and hardware) alive for a few more years. Seems to be of excellent quality, especially for such an inexpensive board.

Cons: Not the fault of the MOBO but I was extremely disapointed to discover NewEgg's description was inaccurate and only two IDE devices are supported. This forced changing my plans for the survival of my old favorites and accounts for the three eggs. Otherwise I was pleased with the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board for the price!

Pros: The board is really good. For the price I bought it at it was well worth it. I just needed something temporarily until I get a full ATX board. This board will last me quite a while I'm sure. I'd recommend this board to anyone who is looking for a board to build for everyday use to light - medium gaming. It also does a POST test very fast too. Start it up and it boots straight into Windows in just a matter of seconds.

Cons: Although I can't go past 8GB of RAM on it, it is still a pretty decent amount of memory to do some gaming. Not a huge con but I'd like to be able to have at least 12GB of RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps old hardware useful

Pros: Socket 775 , takes ddr2 or 3 memory , supports 5.1 surround

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Got this board after seeing mixed reviews . It replaces a evga 750i motherboard that burnt up & damaged my psu . Fortunately Corsair made good on psu (upgraded me) . Saw this one on newegg & ordered . Reused Q8400 , 2x2 gb ddr2 & gtx 460 to make a budget htpc . Got Win 8.1 Pro direct from Microsoft for $65.00 + tax (student id) . Not stripped down with both 32 & 64 bit .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat crossover board

Pros: This is the in-between board for the older 775 socket processors. Has DB-9 serial port and memory slots for DDR2 and DDR3 (no mixing). This also has an IDE port as well as the sata ports.

Cons: ram limited to 8gb I believe - not really a con for older tech as expected. Tight layout.

Other Thoughts: I am a repair shop and had a customer with a robot machine that grades/classifies samples of material. This board is the best! Old pci scsi card "snugggly" fit in and the scale plugged in to the serial port AND his old ddr2 ram plugged in. I saved the day and MSI did too!

1 out of 5 eggsLooks Nice but DOA

Pros: Not Sure since would not work for more that 2.5 Hours. Read Cons

Cons: Now will not power back on, no mater what I try.(Different Power Supply, CPU, RAM, no harddrives hooked up, Nothing seems to make it respond.

Other Thoughts: I give up after 15 day of wasting my time.

3 out of 5 eggsmsi G41m-p33 combo

Pros: i recieved my order of a new msi G41m-p33 combo motherboard and found that it delivered on time boots up nice

Cons: when i opened the package with the motherboard i saw everything looked good untill i saw that it had no screws or standoff"s for the motherboard and what i see in the memory slots are combo but you have to buy ddr2 and ddr3 memory so you can get the max of 8gb"s the blue slots are for ddr2 and the black slots are ddr3 you just cant put ddr2through the whole board you have to buy ddr2 and ddr3 for the board to work that is not listed in the info.

Other Thoughts: before you upgrade your mother board make sure it has everything you need for the install and make sure it come"s with screws.

Manufacturer Response:
