  • newegg All Solid Capacitors Capacitors are the most important component for electronic product's power supply. The quality of the capacitors can impact the stability of the entire system and risk of product failure. Currently there are two types of capacitors, electrolytic capacitors and solid capacitors. Compared to electrolytic capacitors, solid capacitors have a longer lifespan, and provide a more stable power under high temperatures. More importantly, solid capacitors do not have any liquid materials inside, and thus will not suffer a leak which would infringe upon the product’s stability. With such benefits is it no wonder that solid capacitors are very important for product quality's improvement.

APS will automatically detect your processor’s loading at any given time and save energy accordingly. This is only possible by means of a very advanced power controlling technology. Other than software-based solutions, APS technology stands out from MSI's own research. The specially developed IC chip can operate automatically depending on the demands of the power supply, which is to reduce the total power usage.

1 out of 5 eggsSeemed great only to be a fluke

Pros: OC genie and click bios are probably some of the best things in my computing experience. Never really used them much cause I didn't feel like abusing my board or CPU.

Cons: Things ran hot, with my 8320 and gtx 650. Ran fine for awhile then at almost a year in use it died. The boards memory controller went out and cooked my Corsair Dominator Kit with it, msi needs to put in serious work on this design. This board just cost me $200 not including the cost of the board, so I would like to say thanks MSI for making this build my worst ever.

Other Thoughts: If the manufacturer read my review thanks for taking the time appreciate seeing you attempt to care

2 out of 5 eggsAverage board when it works.

Pros: Decent performance when its working

Cons: I have had this board about a year and half. Since day one it has had intermittent short freezing (5-10) seconds and complete freezes. Everything on the board runs exceptionally hot even idle. Have tried and replaced every ting the system with the same issue. After seeing many forums posts with negative complaints and similar issues, I pulled out the board a month ago and tossed it. Haven't had a single freeze since.

Other Thoughts: Cheap board. Guess you get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks wonderfully

Pros: Was somewhat sceptical when buying this mobo because of reviews of people saying it has issues overheating. After installing and testing it I've had no problems with overheating whatsoever. Does all I could ask for at such a low price point.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsIt runs WAY too hot with a FX-8350! I got this in a bundle. READ ME!

Pros: -Easy to set up
-Great Specs

Cons: -RUNS WAY TOO HOT NB shoots to 80C+ just Downloading Windows updates and monitoring temps with HWMonitor
-I had to down clock the FX-8350 to just play Netflix! I am running @ 2,000 MHz on 8 cores and running at 55C and all I've done so far today is get on here to write a review!

Other Thoughts: I bought a bundle for $530 for my first personal computer. I have built, fixed, and modded many computers in my life and I decided to build my own casual gaming PC. Whoever bundled these components together obviously did not read reviews about this motherboard! I haven't even played any games yet and it skyrockets to 80C when I'm just trying to watch Netflix!I have a good flowing case with a fan pointed directly onto the NorthBridge heatsink. Here are my Specs:
-Roswill 680 watt PSU
-AMD FX-8350
-8GB Fury X DDR3 1600
-WD 1TB 7200rpm
-PowerColor Radeon R9 Graphic card

2 out of 5 eggsIt worked for about 3 months

Pros: Good for about 3 months

Cons: It has failed me

Other Thoughts: I only had this motherboard for about 3 months before it (I wanna say it died on me but I'm not sure what happend) I just stopped reviving video signals to my tv. At first I thought it was my graphics card but after putting it in my other ancient computer discovered it was in fact not the card. So I am not sure if it is the pci-e slot that went bad but this board did not hold up for whatever reason. It happened within 30sec to1min. I restarted my computer then I stopped recieving a signal.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and good so far. Does what I need

Pros: Despite all the bad reviews I have purchased this board many times already (more than 5) and so far had no problems. It has everything I need from a 970 board. All have been reliable and without any problems so far (over few years timespan).
It has bunch of USB ports, including two USB 3.0 on the back and connector for front USB 3.0
Several PCI-e 16x and 1x
Convenient location SATA-III
Board is big enough, several fan headers (1x CPU, 2x case fan)
Seems sturdy enough
Good clearance for big heatsinks.

Cons: Bad reviews - I don't know what to expect in the future and if I keep using these boards.
It does run hot, northbridge and area around CPU socket gets really hot, single heatsink on NB and nothing behind CPU does not help much. You have to use som kind of air cooler that blows air around those areas and good ventilation in your case, at least 2-3 fans, definitely fan on top of the case.
Sometimes it makes 8320 and 8350 processors run too hot, hotter than expected. Last build - FX 8320 with stock cooler (copper base) got to 60C while browsing BIOS on first startup, lowered voltage to 1.23v and got CPU to 50C idle. Later HWmonitor showed 43C idle and it has got to 60C with Prime95 which is not bad with stock cooler. Have no idea why in BIOS it runs 50-60C.
Big part of the board hangs with no support. Just a fraction of an inch short of next raw of standoffs.

Other Thoughts: I am using small pieces of hard styrofoam under the parts that hangs with no support, so when you start forcing 24pin cable in you don't see you mobo bending like crazy, feels safer that way.
I have used several of these refurbished boards and had no problems with them as well. I don't know what people do to break them but some probably should not be allowed to build themselves. Just use caution with fragile hardware and don't go monkey-kong on your motherboard - it will survive just fine. Even with FX 8320 and 8350 and stock cooler. Which it does support

1 out of 5 eggsThe overheating board

Pros: Good board if it works

Cons: I hook this board up and it blows a spark right off the bat and i know few of you have wrote on here that not compatible with FX 8320 yup your right. My only concern now if this board am going to replace does the same thing i will never get a MSI board ever again,i have older model MSI Military board and still running like champ but the AMD 970 need to be scraped this makes me very angry to even replace it but am going to.

Other Thoughts: I would tell someone if they asked to buy a higher model MSI board then this one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the price

Pros: Got this board for my brother about 2 years ago for his new system. Been running like a champ since. Just updated his system from an nvidia 650 ti to an AMD R9 380 and it handles the power distribution to that new card like a champ. Did I mention it has had an 8320 attached with a stock cooler! Despite what some others have written this is a great budget board. Common sense dictates you shouldn't be trying to get world record over clocks on it......

Cons: None. Works as intended without an issue for almost 2 years. Can't complain.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, this board can handle all but the uber power hungry AMD 95XX processors. Great budget board that is a daily work horse. My brother is an avid gamer (wow/lol/rl/hots) and has worked this board like no other. Never had an issue. And we spent, what? $80? WORTH.

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with FX chips

Pros: Lovely, mostly functional motherboard, well labeled for easy connection, took no time to set up at all. Great port placement. Inexpensive if you have the correct product information. Please see cons for 1 star rating.

Cons: Several sites including Newegg have labeled this MB as compatible with AMD FX 8350 or MSI R380 GPU- however I should have paid closer attention to the cons from other reviewers. Despite an extremely sufficient 600 W PSU, and GPU that are both compatible with the processor (AM3+ chip set) the entire motherboard shuts down once GPU has been engaged. After some digging on forums, a return to the reviews, and a rather nasty attitude from the manufacturer discovered that multiple people are having issues with compatibility due to following the product description listing FX CPU's. Another (legit) theory provided by reviews was that the North board is known to be faulty in this model and overheat frequently. This Reviewer suggests update to next model.

Previous reviewer stated that the MB's pin/case standoff's are not very well placed, also took this review with a grain of salt until I discovered how right they were. There are 6 screws to be lined up with 6 standoffs. There are 3 along one edge and 3 along the middle, leaving the entire edge from the RAM down through the USB3 with 0 support under. Board is fairly thick however pushing down on anything like that could crack even the thickest material. Suggest providing necessary support (doesn't take much) when installing RAM and pins.

Not the best line up to the component index panel provided.

I'm very thankful I didn't need to refer to the instruction manual very often because the book was full of typos and not at all helpful for troubleshooting. The instruction pictogram provided was akin to cave drawings.

Other Thoughts: I should have paid closer attention to the cons from other reviewers. I try to take these things with a grain of salt, if out of 500 people it still has 3 stars with the most popular review being that the MB was DOA, then I suppose you're taking a gamble. Luckily this was not DOA, so I felt like a lucky one. However, being flat out lied to by a product description is wrong. I made the mistake of contacting the products customer support before I up and called newegg to get a refund (silly me, trying to solve problems without inconveniencing someone for no reason) MSI/AMD customer was very hostile and unhappy that I had called to diagnose their product's problems before I returned it to NewEgg when they say they've advised all sellers that this VERY popular CPU and several other FX CPU's are not compatible with the MB and that all sellers need to place a disclaimer on the product description. I suggested to the CS technician that unless he personally had done it, that NewEgg probably does not feel they've been informed and they are just listing descriptions by what MSI's specs say on the box. I also let him know it's not NewEgg's fault an MSI product is not compatible with another MSI product, ON TOP of their parent company- an AMD product- and they should consider not selling it or changing their description on the box to exclude FX CPU's. I've never had an issue with either company before, so I won't let this one person dissuade me from trying another MSI mo/bo.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Chelsea,
Thank you for the feedback. Please note the CPU is on the compatibility list for this motherboard. Can you provide us with your system full hardware's configuration so that we can better assist you? 4 out of 5 eggsNice Mobo

Pros: Works like a champ. I have had this board for over a year and it has never gave me any problems at all. I use a FX6300 oc'd at 4.1ghz. I have an aftermarket cooler for the cpu, and several cooling fans for the tower (NZXT S430). All my RAM sticks fit nicely, and my GTX950 fits just fine.

Cons: The only con I can think of is the NorthBridge. As the other reviews have stated, it does run pretty hot. Under load the NB will burn your finger if you touch for more than 2 seconds. Because of this, I bought an 80mm fan and fixed it to the top of my graphics card, blowing onto the NB. Since then, it stays warm but no longer hot. Easy fix.

Other Thoughts: Never oc'd to more than 4.3ghz, don't need to. 6 cores @ 4.1ghz is plenty of power for anything. This is a very mild oc for the FX6300, this board isn't built for major overclocking and that should be considered when purchasing. Low to mild oc's are fine, but anything serious and you should def invest in a better board.

Overall, it has been a year and I havent had ANY problems aside from the hot NB, which was an easy fix. If you plan on some low to mid overclocking, and want a board that's decently priced- get this board.
