  • newegg All Solid Capacitors Capacitors are the most important component for electronic product's power supply. The quality of the capacitors can impact the stability of the entire system and risk of product failure. Currently there are two types of capacitors, electrolytic capacitors and solid capacitors. Compared to electrolytic capacitors, solid capacitors have a longer lifespan, and provide a more stable power under high temperatures. More importantly, solid capacitors do not have any liquid materials inside, and thus will not suffer a leak which would infringe upon the product’s stability. With such benefits is it no wonder that solid capacitors are very important for product quality's improvement.
  • newegg APS (Active Phase Switching) Active Phase Switching, APS, technology is an intelligent design that helps to save energy on MSI’s motherboards. The underlying idea is to switch off the power supply as soon as no electricity is needed, and when the system needs more resources again, APS will automatically adjust electricity supply accordingly. APS will automatically detect your processor’s loading at any given time and save energy accordingly. This is only possible by means of a very advanced power controlling technology. Other than software-based solutions, APS technology stands out from MSI's own research. The specially developed IC chip can operate automatically depending on the demands of the power supply, which is to reduce the total power usage.

5 out of 5 eggs#1 Bang4BUCK!

Pros: Cheap, easy to set up, attractive, USB 3.0, 2x PCI Express 2.0! And many more options / stuff to play with. Oh, it supports XP 32bit & 64 bit!! <3 that about it and it works GREAT with 8 core processors. I'm glad I bought it a second time.

Cons: Be VERY careful for this board is not the most hardy so do not be abusive with it or you may find it break on you. Static shock, scratches, bends is no joke on this board; it WILL die if you even slightly do this (From experience.)

Other Thoughts: All in all SUPER great deal and I now LOVE MSI and shall continue to explore more of their products; because this board really impressed me. (I do not recommend overclocking it though) BE WARNED if it breaks it's on you...

3 out of 5 eggsMSI 970a-G43

Pros: Great motherboard for the price.

Cons: Any chip over 100w TDP will push this board to its breaking point, if you encode video, or play any demanding games stay away from this board unless you have a 100w chip or lower.

Other Thoughts: The Power phase seems to be on par with 95w chips.

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been great

Pros: -Support 4 memory slots at up to 32gb
-6 sata 6gb
-gigabit ethernet and usb 3.0
All and all very impressive for the price

Cons: -Should be more clear about supported CPUs. I did read the reviews and went with the fx8320 instead of the 8350. Sorry to all those who went in the first wave

-Even with the 8320 using corsair h55, the board runs insanely hot, like you could cook something with it.

Other Thoughts: It's summertime now in TX which can get very hot, up to 100 degrees. As such, the only way for me to game on this board is to point a floor-standing fan straight at the mobo. This is my last solution because everytime i try to game (bf4, gw2, dota 2,..) the board just shuts down after a random amount of time.

There are some games that i can play without turning on the fan such as fifa 14, dark souls 2, warband. So it's not all bad. I can surf web, listen to music, play videos just fine without the board overheating

I'll try to use this board for 1 years (6 months already) and then maybe sell it and go with something else. I've read the reviews and a lot of people seem to favor ASUS. My last board was a GIGABYTE and it worked just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard for the price

Pros: Cheap
Nice color scheme
USB 3.0
Sata 6gb/s
Standard ATX

Cons: Only six mounting holes(May not be a problem, although when installing 24-pin connector, the board flexed and I was afraid it was gonna break)
Connectors are hard to clip into place

Other Thoughts: This is a great motherboard for a new builder, like me. It has all the good features you would see in a mid-range motherboard, plus you can expect quality from MSI! Would have given 5 eggs, but there was only six standoff holes.
Build:
AMD FX 4300
WD BLUE 1TB
8GB Kingston HyperX Fury (Blue)
Sapphire R9 270( yes, i know. The CPU kinda bottlenecks)
MSI 970A-G43
NZXT Source 210
EVGA 500 Watt PSU 80 plus certified
ASUS DVD Burner

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very easy build using Phenom II x4 970 e/w 8meg mem. So far no problems whatsoever.

Cons: You must have the manual to spot the correct pins for "reset", "pwr", "HD LED" leads for the front case because nothing visible stenciled on the MB that I could see.

Other Thoughts: Only the 2nd MSI I've used. It works every bit as well as my favorite Gigabyte or ASUS boards.

It's a mystery to me why so many have trouble with MBs.
Can't remember the last time I had a bad one of the 3 mentioned above.
