5 out of 5 eggsMSI-77a-gd65gaming lga 1155 z77

Pros: I have owned this motherboard for about eight months. now that it is still going strong. I recommend that you use this. motherboard if you're going to build a gaming computer it is a shame that Newegg has discontinue this motherboards if they had them in. Stock I would buy one more for my next build.

Cons: the only thing about this motherboard is the onboard sound sounds like a chicken crowing and crackling but I put in a Sound Blaster phantom one sound card so that doesn't bother me.

3 out of 5 eggsNot great, but not bad

Pros: OC genie is super simple, plenty of PCIe ports, great color schemes

Cons: Major issue with this board:
On board Audio is absolutely garbage. After about 2 months of use, the audio started to put out terrible cracks and pops. It would go away with a restart, but eventually came back. Then it was just permanent. It got to the point where it was unbearable to watch any video on my computer. Had to shell out another $50 for a dedicated sound card.

Board lacks a USB 3.0 slot for a case front panel, the board has red and black colors, yet has blue LEDs, so buying case lighting to match is annoying.

Other Thoughts: All in all, It's not that bad of a board for the price. Really wish it had red LEDs so I could have gotten red lights for my case instead of blue. And being able to use the usb 3.0 ports on my case would have been lovely. Still looks great, though.

5 out of 5 eggsME TOO!

Pros: I built a computer for my brother (about 4 months ago) with this motherboard and we have the same general build except for the motherboard. I have an Asus board. HIS computer runs TWICE as fast as mine...... And right now my board is giving me issues so, I'm saying good bye to Asus! I just ordered one for myself and can't wait!

Cons: None at all so far!

Other Thoughts: Motherboards in general are a pain in the neck to keep working correctly. So for the people who bought this and it broke soon after.... Luck of the draw buddy. I would recommend this board to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and so far great MB

Pros: I have used this nearly a month.. So far this thing has worked great.. I put my old Intel 2500K CPU in and O/C to 4.2 by the OC settings in the bios. Temps run around 38 Celsius and under load around 42 Celsius while working with movie rendering..

Cons: This is NOT a con, just information in case you get this. The only thing that might seem to be a problem with some people is in the bios.. I believe the setting was the Windows 8 option.. Anyway there's one option if you select that, when you boot up, an old DOS like screen will come up and you can't do anything other than old type of DOS ..

If that happens to you, reboot and get back into the BIOS and hit the reset button to go back to default and then reset everything again..

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this board.. I use to have a MSI back in the 1990s which was great, but since I've bee usually with Abit or Asus MBs.. After reading the reviews where most were all positives, I decided to go with MSI this time and WOW this is really great.. Get it if you want a good board.

5 out of 5 eggs2 Month Mark

Pros: The board is pretty much just another z77.
Offers a different color scheme than previous MSI boards.
Dual bios can come in handy.
Supports up to 32GB RAM.

Cons: Fan controllers on the board is a bit lacking.
Board takes awhile to post but that's fine.
EUFI BIOS feels a bit limited but that might be personal opinion.
Killer E2200 card can b e a pain to deal with in both Windows and Linux. Currently there are no drivers to support the network card in Linux based OS.

Other Thoughts: So far the board has been working well for me. I've had the board for 2 months and am currently running Ubuntu 12.04 on the board. There are ways to patch the network drivers on Ubuntu but when doing so conflicts with nvidia drivers so currently I am running wirelessly until Ubuntu adds the drivers for the network card or until I switch to Windows 7.

Overall I would recommend this board. The board has been quite solid for me. I'm running an i7-3770k, paired with 32GB of Mushkin (994110) lower voltage memory using the XMP profile because I didn't feel like manually setting memory timings and voltage.

Other Thoughts: Couldn't be happier!

3 out of 5 eggsHype is this board's main selling point

Pros: It's very functional and clocker friendly
Install was a breeze
It's rather aesthetically pleasing

Cons: Takes forever to POST
Audio chipset is garbage
>>Case header inputs interfere with PCIe slot<<

Other Thoughts: This thing was marketed very well. I was stoked when I got it, gave it a fair shake to stave off the impending disappointment, but in the end, wish I had gotten something else.

-The optical out for the audio won't let me default anything other than 2 channels into my receiver. Old mobo had no problem with giving me full 5.1. Ended up using the HDMI on my video card to get the sound I want.

-Don't count on fitting a 3rd video card in here, my low-pro physx card wont fit in with the header inputs on the bottom of the board. This sucks.. hardcore. I'll now be looking to find a single card solution GPU and abandoning my SLI setup.

-As a "Gaming" mobo, quotations need be used explicitly in the naming of this board. I don't mind spending good money on a good mobo, but with this, I find myself throwing more good money after bad. I'm having to buy more hardware accommodating to it, rather than it accommodating to my existing hardware.

-I've never seen a slower POST. A good 20-25 sec just before it even BEGINS to load the OS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: I love the way the board looks and you can tell a lot of detail went into the designing process. Overall this board seems excellent. I like OC Genie and the bios menus and so on and so forth.

Cons: I didn't take away an egg for this but the blue indicator LED's on the upper right side of the board are constantly flickering and its more annoying than you may think. Maybe something is wrong? If anyone knows why shoot me an email:

Other Thoughts: Yarp.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I would like to inform you that the LEDs are Power Phase LED lights which indicate CPU load, therefore they may be constantly in use.

If you have any questions, feel free to let us know, thank you.

Best Regards,

3 out of 5 eggsLots of features

Pros: This board has a nice GUI Bios. The board looks high quality with great coloring. Easy to setup and install for those that have done it before. The manual is easy to follow.

Cons: Board shipped with outdated BIOS, I understand that these sit in boxes for awhile before being sold but having a BIOS on it that doesnt function correctly is bad. The debug code display sits on A0 due to outdated BIOS should read A2.

Will not start Windows loads the Boot manager then kicks out to error screen.
-Reseated Ram
-checked all connections
-Linux will boot so configuration is acceptable and components are properly recognized.

System is nice just wish Windows would work so I can go back to doing my 3D graphics.

Other Thoughts: Build:
MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming
i5-3570K Ivy Bridge
MSI N660 GeForce GTX 660
G.Skill RipJaws X 8gb (2x4gb)
WD 500+ GB Hard drive
