4 out of 5 eggsEggcellent

Pros: Great board, stays cool and does what it needs to do.

Cons: Not a fan of the included software live update 5 or command center.

Other Thoughts: Not a big fan of dragons kinda wish they'd replace it with space cats.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: not only does this MoBo look awesome, and it works great too. has some really neat features like a CMOS reset button on the I/O, I thought mouse control in the BIOS was neat, heat sinks are in the shape of the dragon on the box. can be easily overclocked. and for the price, you cant argue.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsLemon and Egg on my Face

Pros: None

Cons: Since eggs are a symbol of life, I regret having been forced to give even one for my review. This MSI motherboard didn't need a computer builder, it needed a priest! I've built dozens of computers before and never had a dead motherboard. Due to illness, I didn't try it for a couple months. Refund request denied despite giving long explanation and having spent $$$$$ here over the years. Way to keep a customer!! As for MSI, shame on you for your quality control and for that matter, your technical writing; the included user manual came in a bunch of different languages, none of which provided well-written instructions or first rate illustrations. It's been said "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade", but when two companies give you one $150 lemon, make noise!!

Other Thoughts: None of the spin-offs of Law and Order are nearly as good as the original. I wish that I had root beer in the house because it's after midnight and I have ice cream. If I had root beer, I could have a root beer float now. Did they mean "other relevant thoughts"?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board - Missing SLI Bridge

Pros: Easy to use. Powered up no problems. SLI'd almost flawlessly (see con below) BIOS is very easy to understand. I did not and do not plan on overclocking.

Cons: Didn't come with an SLI bridge even though being SLI capable. Ordered one from Newegg when I added the second video card. Minor annoyance.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended

Pros: Z87 chipset, Killer NIC, Creative Labs Cinema, decent price

Cons: drivers for Killer NIC on CD sucked.

Other Thoughts: This install went really nice, installed Windows 8.1 which you need to install all drivers for from chipset drivers to NIC. So, I poped in the CD and installed only the Killer drivers. Oh lord I thought my internet connection was back in the days of 1.5 mb/s... Went to killers site, downloaded the driver cleaner and new drivers, not killer utility, and now i couldn't be happier. After that headache I went to Intel and Creative for their drivers, and everything is running well. I haven't really wanted to mess with MSI Software Suite, because the only thing I would have contemplated using was the Fastboot, but my machine shuts down in about 3 seconds and goes from off to desktop in about 11, so I'm happy.

I feel like all the growing pains and kinks were worked out by MSI and/or feature manufacturers while i was on the fence about spending the money to build a new gaming machine.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing board for the price

Pros: This board is great. I have not had a single issue with it. Easily installed into my Thermaltake Armor Revo case. No issues with the i/o shield, loose or faulty heatsinks or any other issue others have mentioned. The BIOS is a dream come true. It is so easy to use a person with little to no experience wouldn't have a problem. I guess maybe I got lucky? I doubt it. I have been using MSI products for years and have never had to RMA a single piece. I am currently using this board paired up with 2 MSI Hawks in SLI. Absolutely amazing. No issues with heat, or compatibility. The fan connectors on the board are 4 pin however 3 pin adapt perfectly fine and work as normal. The board stays at a steady 32C.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I have owned EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte and many others. I have built both Intel and AMD platforms and I can say through experience MSI is a leader in quality products and I will never recommend anything else.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked fine for a month

Pros: I ordered this board when it was on sale. Liked the features and color for my new Build.
-I liked the BIOS, very easy to understand and intuitive
-Good layout for my Video Card and other peripherals

Cons: I bought it 34 days ago and it wont recognize my Logitech wireless mouse or Keyboard. I cannot figure out what is wrong whether it be with the MB or OS [Win8.1]. Windows did a recent update but i can boot up the computer fine and goes straight to Windows, but no input devices work. I tried flashing the BIOS (which worked initially when this issue occured out of the box, should have known this could happen again), unplugging into every USB port, front and back, and completely cutting power and draining the capacitors. Fresh out of ideas, looking to the forums for help. I cannot get into BIOS or login because I have 0 ability to move the mouse or keyboard. USBs recognize the receiver because i hear the computer make a noise when plug/unplug. Batteries are fine and RF works between keyboard/mouse and receiver.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the issues above everything else worked well. This is my 4th build and I have never had any issues with the previous 3. Leave it to me to spend $1k and have issues

MSI G45 X87 MB
Intel i5-4590
G Skill DDR1333 16GB (reused from previous build)
WD 1 TB Red HDD
PNY 240GB SSD
Win 8.1 update 1 (new copy)
Coolermaster Storm Scout (reused from previous build)
MSI GTX 770 2GB

4 out of 5 eggsFriendly heads up

Pros: I've got a G45 Z77 board. Some of you were talking about loose heatsinks. This seams to be common. When I first got mine, the first thing I did was tighten up all the heatsinks. Some were indeed loose. Haven't had any problems with the board.

Cons: Loose heatsinks. But, you've been notified. Inspect your boards BEFORE you install them. No problems once you perform your due diligence.

4 out of 5 eggsNoting unsatifactory really

Pros: Board looks great, installed easy and the msi fastboot is super fast with windows 8 and a ssd. (also has a boot2bios function in its software)

Cons: The mail in rebate sucked I didn't even end up getting mine because I missed the deadline - to complicated...

Had issues with the i/o shield some of the metal strips got stuck in the USB and LAN ports when I installed forcing me to unmount the board, reall was a pain to get them to not be in the way. ( I have big hands so its hard to work in that close proximity)

I love their bios works great. Only thing is whenever I turn on "windows 8/8.1 features" it causes a boot loop and windows won't start. My problem is probably that I don't know what that feature does but I couldn't find any documentation on it.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this board for sure
