5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Works perfectly and has very simple overclocking tools.

Cons: I had a problem where the desktop wouldn't startup, turned out that the CPU pin wasnt in all the way even though it was locked. Make sure when inserting the CPU to the motherboard, all four quadrants of the the cpu is pushed in all the way then locked. If the CPU isn't full secure, theres a high chance of bending the CPU pins.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard

Pros: - Solid construction
- Nice blue color
- Stable
- Plenty of room for expansion
- 4 USB 3.0 ports on back panel
- Plenty of on-board video options if you use it
- Straightforward layout
- Most drivers were easy to get set up

Cons: - 24-pin ATX power was a little tough to get connected
- One of the USB 3.0 drivers was problematic (see notes)

Other Thoughts: Overall, this has been a great board. It looks, feels, and works nicely. The construction is solid, setup was straightforward and easy, and the room for expansion this board offers makes it a good choice for the price (getting it on sale is better though :D). There are only two minor cons I found...

The motherboard power connector was a little difficult to get connected. I tend to have an issue with this anyway for some reason, but it was very time consuming to get the cable to clip onto the pin housing.

Other than that, after installing the board and the system (running Win7), I decided to go online and get the latest drivers instead of pulling the driver CD out. Perhaps I just wasn't looking in the right place, but I actually never managed to find one of the USB 3.0 drivers on MSI's support site, and I had to resort to using the driver CD (which ended up working perfectly anyway) for that one driver. Maybe I just missed it, though...

Overall, it's a great motherboard, and I look forward to seeing how it does in the long term.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: 0/10 (DoA)

Cons: I've recieved the motherboard Dead on Arrival (DoA).

I build the desktop on day 1 off arrival. All of the parts turn on when i press power. I get no source signal after that.
I've searched online forums, articles, links, to see any fix for this situations and tried many actions.
I've tried mounting the motherboard on a skeletal rack, on a cardboard box (to neutralize the electric flow), changed up the motherboard screw mount, remove hardware one by one to find the issue, use a 1000watt power supply to ensure the hardware has enough power.

There was no resolve to the hardware.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly (JPWR1 and JPRW2).
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

Best Regards,

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboards

Pros: I like the I/o and slots arrangement on this board. Both PS/2 ports is nice, 4 USB3 ports is very nice, 3 express slots plus one standard PCI, 6 SATA 3's, 4 memory slots. So many cheap boards skimp on I/O & memory slots and to me it's the most important thing I look for in a board.

The BIOS is robust and easy to use, and the board is stable.

Cons: None. I am concerned about one thing though. I have an MSI FM1 board that's been in service for a couple of years and for some reason, the plastic frame around the CPU that anchors the heat sink failed. The plastic seems to have crystallized from head and got brittle and just came apart. The heat sink literally fell off. This on a running computer that was sitting still and hadn't been disturbed in ages. Sure looks like the same design on this FM2 board. Oh well, time will tell.

Other Thoughts: I bought three of these to build us some new office computers from. All three came up easily and quickly without a hitch and the users love them. All have SSD's and the same A6 processor and Gskill memory.

These AMD APU systems deliver a big bang for the buck.

2 out of 5 eggsBurned Out Twice

Pros: Boot time was awesome, able to boot Win 8 within 30 seconds. Setup was relatively short and easy to understand if you did your homework.

Cons: First motherboard that I ordered was defective; would turn on everything, but refused to show video output. Sent it back, got a replacement from MSI almost immediately. But the replacement only lasted TWO MONTHS before video went out again. I'm not buying another MSI product.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your workers in India are doing their jobs right MSI.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work

Pros: Worked for 2 weeks then blue screened my computer

Cons: I ended up with thee different ones and all blue screened my comp.
MSI replaced it twice but wouldn't give me a refuned nor return my calls.
The service was horrible and I still don't have a working motherboard form them.
do not buy this board it will cost you more money and problems.

3 out of 5 eggsRAM incompatability

Pros: Solid board. UEFI interface is easy to navigate. Updated BIOS without any issues. Provides PS/2 ports, great for people with older peripherals migrating from Windows XP.

Cons: RAM incompatibility. Over 2 dozen builds using AMD A6-5400K and G.Skill 8GB 1866MHz (F3-1866C9D-8GAB) memory and this board has caused me problems twice, both memory related. MSI's other versions, A78M-E35 and A88XM-E35 work fine.

However I noticed the issue could be memory side because I've noticed G.Skill using different color PCB on the exact same memory (F3-1866C9D-8GAB), the green PCB version would give me issues, whereas the black PCB version has been good so far. I'm guessing the green PCB version is old stock?

Other Thoughts: G.Skill should use a different model number if they're going to use different chips/PCB.

3 out of 5 eggsWin 8.0 nitemare

Pros: Lot's of bells and whistles. Easy OC in bios bumped my 3.7 to 4.0 ghz with one touch! No hick ups on Windows 7.

Cons: I have a volume license copy of W8.0 and have installed, tried to install it in this board maybe 4 out of 12 times. I stripped all the cards and add ons out, get the initial install done then it locks up after updates or installing the AMD drivers. I tried newer, older, just vga. Last time I had it running for months perfect then an older version of Easeus disk utility totally messed it up. It runs great if you can crack the code (and I am a very good computer tech) but if your wasting a license you will NOT be happy.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased a GB GA-F2A55M-HD2. It loaded W8 flawlessly over 6-7 times. The drivers loaded perfect from the cd. I REALLY want to like this MSI motherboard but it's like a bad girlfriend.........
