2 out of 5 eggsa APU board that cant allocate Ram...

Pros: well, its running. ill give it 2 eggs for booting right up, just one major flaw.....

Cons: Cannot allocate ram in bios on a APU a8-660... so basically for a board that says its for the apu market its junk, completely worthless for a apu build. for anything else other then that im sure its a solid little board, so id buy a cpu and a dedicated graphics card for this board if your gunna use it in a build, cause you wont be able to do much in the way of tweaking a a8-6600 at all. I have a a10-6800k in my other system on a biostar ta-970 and it runs very well and I can allocate ram on that, should have bought one of those, as it is now since I build this thing on a whim I suppose ill just buy a graphic's card for it, but I shouldn't have had to.

cant say much on build quality either, as I was re-routing some cables the neat little blue grasp for the usb 3 onboard plug desided to come off with the cord, didn't break or bend the pins so its working, but not something you like to see when your building anything that parts pull right off that should be attached :( It is working im writing this review on it, but very disappointed, was my xmas gift for myself for the rec room in the basement to play some ultra off ste@m in the basement. no allocated ram = very sub par performance on that benchmark :(

Other Thoughts: I suppose I just assumed that since it was a apu board id have no problems setting up the 8 gigs of Kingston ram for the apu, guess its a live and learn.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Excellence

Pros: All went flawlessly. SATA 3, USB 3, always a plus for AMD.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed an AMD A-10-6800K, G.Skill DDR3 Value Ram (2x4gb), OCZ power supply, OCZ ARC 100 SSD 120gb, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, without any hiccups.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hardware, Lousy Software

Pros: Great hardware, 4 dimm slots, 3 fan headers, 4 USB 3.0's,
even a legacy PCI filling the 4th slot. Great full-featured layout for a mini-ATX.

Cons: Lousy Bios, Poor o/s Software, Worst manual ever, nothing is explained.

Other Thoughts: I prefer Bios tweeks to software solutions, and this board is not my friend, Ex. you can not set amount of dedicated video ram on an APU (you can with the ASRock).

APU SetUp Tips:
1. For ram faster than 1600, load XMP profiles.
2. We enabled Cool-n-Quiet, and Disabled Turbo,
no loss in performance, big savings in wattage.
3. Within the o/s, make sure all cores are "unparked", wow.

Runs very quite.

2 out of 5 eggsOverheating and crashing

Pros: Looks nice, pci-e 3.0, usb 3.0 and a front header pin, a nice north bridge (VRM) heatsink.

Cons: Super hot southbridge chip, the system likes to freeze at stockclock and even if its underclocked. MSI Put a better heatsink on the southbridge.

I'm not 100% sure that the system freezes, when doing a prime95 stress test, because of the south-bridge. It might be that there is something wrong with the cpu/apu.

I'm sending both the mainboard and cpu back for a refund and replacement. Will look for a board with a better chipset heatsink.

Other Thoughts: I can cook an egg on that chip!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Stable. All hardware components installed without a problem. Great blue/black color scheme. Drivers installed fine except for one USB 3.0 that can't seem to go away on Device Manager even though it appears all the ports work fine. Intuitive BIOS.

Cons: The BIOS was somewhat simplistic and I wish it offered more details. There is a useless feature that shows you all the components installed on the board. The I/O shield was a little tricky to install, but not worth removing an egg.

Other Thoughts: Good for a first build. Offers lots of expandability for a Micro ATX board.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard with reasonable price

Pros: Who can resist the motherboard with solid performance and low price. MSI A78M-E45 FM2+/FM2 AMD A78(Bolton D3) appeals good performance, yet reasonable price with $10 mail-in-rebate.

I can navigate UEFI Bios menu easily, even one menu is dedicated for overclocking CPU and memory. I haven't fully tried out OC yet, but it seems easy to do OC with this motherboard.

Cons: I couldn't find to change AHCI/RAID in SATA option. Hope someone can help me to find this option in BIOS menu.

This motherboard has two chassis fan connectors (4-pin with sensor and 3-pin without sensor). It would be better if I have two fan connectors with sensor so that both fan speed can be adjusted. A fan runs 100% emits loud noise and generates vibration. I bet the lifespan of fan decreases as well as the fan runs with full blast whenever the PC is being used.
