USB Audio Power

USB Audio Power is a breakthrough in Home Theater Entertainment audio quality. Using an unique design, the USB ports onboard provide a TRUE 5V signal that doesn't drop when more devices are connected. This simply means better signal quality over USB, especially for devices that rely on a perfect signal, like USB DAC's as they rely on a perfect transmission of audio bits from the motherboard to the DAC. This also means that external low-noise power supplies are no longer essential for better audio quality as USB Audio Power is able to deliver an optimum USB signal.

Benefits

  • Enhances USB Audio Quality
  • Stable 5V Power & Better Signal Transmission over USB

Pros: Great for the price and pretty decent performance!

Cons: The free game coupon was invalid with my motherboard. Also, AMD's customer service kinda sucks. But, this has nothing to do with the product so not enough bad to lose an egg

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great board, fancy with lots of features.

Cons: wont run my 2400 g skill ram in dual channel, same as my last board, and didnt come with any screws or stand offs. Looks like it was used , because all of the booklets and packagin were wrinkled up and thrown in the box. And i didnt get a certificate for free 2 games that came with the board, which was one of the reasons i got the board.

Other Thoughts: it was several days late, i think it was used, didnt come with screws or standoffs, and didnt include the free 2 games it was advertised with.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Overall

Pros: Initially I thought it was defective because it wouldn't power on to begin with, but later I determined that the plug on my UPS was going bad. Have had no real problems otherwise.

OC Genie is a breeze and bumped up the A10-7850K to 4.2 Ghz without a hitch. Performance is buttery smooth along with my HD7870, even when pushing a 2650x1600 monitor.

Audio is especially awesome, even while missing the surround speakers on my 5.1 setup, it still feels more immersive than when I was running a SoundBlaster X-Fi back in the day. I seriously cannot wait for TrueAudio compatible games to come out and take real advantage of this.

Networking speeds have improved as well, despite no change in my router/ISP. Using cFosSpeed for traffic shaping instead of the Killer NIC software and it gives me nearly 1 mbit better speeds from my FIOS connection.

Cons: None really... aside from the sheer terror of thinking it was DOA to start with ;P

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have clean power for this puppy, don't be like me and connect it to a dying UPS. Otherwise I'd recommend the best DDR3 you can afford to go with it, definitely 2400 Mhz compatible, and this will give you the overclocking headroom you need. I *might* test it at the higher level of OC Genie once I replace my UPS, but until then, 4.2 suits me just fine.

2 out of 5 eggsI wanted to like it...

Pros: Tons of features, high quality craftsmanship* and materials, impressive specs, great layout. Did I mention tons of features?
(See * in cons)

Cons: First board arrive DOA. I didn't remove eggs for that, it happens; I just returned the mobo and got a second one.

*Known poor assembly
I couldn't believe my second mobo was DOA as well so I went looking online. Turns out there's an issue where you have use your video card to wedge down the PCI slot like an old Nintendo game for the board to get power. Sure enough, I pushed my video card down (towards the ground in an upright tower case) and after hearing some stress creaks the power came on. Once I let go and the board/card reset to standard positions the power dropped again. I repeated this test with the same results. Had I stuck a pencil in the back panel to keep the card wedged down (and blocked one of my monitor plugs) I'm sure I could have kept power flowing, but that was completely unacceptable. I really wanted to like/use this board, too...

Other Thoughts: Had the board worked without the need for me to wedge the video card in there I'm sure I would have been VERY pleased. As I've said repeatedly, I really wanted to use this board, that's why I gave it two eggs instead of one.

1 out of 5 eggsBuilt Computer to Find Out Motherboard is Broken

Pros: I couldn't get the computer started using this motherboard, other than it looks nice, I don't have any pros.

Cons: So I've been slowly buying parts over the past 3 months to build a brand new computer, and this is the motherboard I chose to use since Newegg had a deal on it a while back. Upon receiving the box I left the box closed and in a cool environment until the build day. Yesterday I received my last component which was the graphics card (ASUS Geforce GTX 760). My older cousin and I spent all afternoon and evening building my computer to find out that the motherboard is unresponsive. We tried taking out one component at a time to see if it was possible that it was another component that was messed up, but still nothing. Not even a beep noise once we took the RAM out. I'm sure this is a very rare case, and that the motherboard is decent, when working properly. I'm super disappointed about this, and I really hope I can get some sort of a refund, because as far as the both of us can see this motherboard is good for garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsA88X-G45

Pros: It's red and black. And I think that looks awesome.

Relatively easy to overclock.

My Kaveri is running at 4.6Ghz on the CPU side, and just over 1Ghz on the GPU side. I think I could get more out of it if I could afford a custom water loop.

I can still use my Cooler Master V6 because AMD hasn't changed the size of their brackets in forever. The adapter that came for the AM2 socket still fit (even though I originally bought it for a socket 1156 i5 760).

I have 4x4GB of 1600Mhz Corsair Vengeance running at 1886 Mhz. Took less then a minute to OC. Booted on the first try. Maybe I just got lucky. It's important to get the most out of your RAM when using the iGPU, as the system RAM is also being used as your VRAM.

And that segues well into the cons...

Cons: It can be a pain to find where you set the VRAM allocation size in the BIOS. I ended having to set the BIOS for Dual Graphics (which is CrossFire between the iGPU and a video card, in case you didn't know) even though I don't have a dedicated video card in the system.

You can only allocate 2GB as VRAM. Though, I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the board, BIOS,socket, chipset, or the APU.

Other Thoughts: I run my system to a TV with a max resolution of 1024x768, so the iGPU is really all I need to run games at decent settings with that resolution. I have Dirt 3 on high settings, and still get over 60 FPS on average.

If you want 1080, you can still play most games on low to medium settings. But, I'm keeping my eye out for when a R7 250 goes on sale for stupid cheap. Equipping that in Dual Graphics makes 1080 much more playable.

Last I checked, you can still only set up Dual Graphics with the R7 240 and R7 250 with the Oland chips. And only those. Not the 250X or 250E. Plus, it's only the 250's with the 384 stream processors, not the 512.

I thought maybe AMD with update drivers to include more cards to that list, but as far as I know, that hasn't happened.

5 out of 5 eggsThis bios. Lemme tell you.

Pros: Great everything. Love it. Not going to get into specs as you can see it.
Layout is nice.
Great for what its made for.

Cons: The front audio port on my case isn't working. But that is 90% my fault and don't want to pull of the side to fix it.(cabled wrong)

When I first Installed Windows 7 I used a hella old version. Which for some reason my audio never worked. The Audio Service would crash and restart when anything sound related happened. But the good ole windows updates fixed everything. Not going to lose any eggs for the raiting as everything that went wrong was my fault.

Other Thoughts: This bios man. I am used to bios being hella lame. But this thing has Mouse Support and the bios is layed out nice and neat. I would rate this 7/5 if I could.
