Killer E2200 Game Networking

Kill Your Lag!

The Killer E2200 Intelligent Networking Platform is built for maximum networking performance for online games and high-quality streaming media. Featuring Advanced Stream Detect? Killer E2200 automatically detects and accelerates game traffic ahead of other network traffic for smoother, stutter-free in-game performance and the competitive edge. With this exclusive, automatic traffic prioritization, games and real-time chat get priority over low-level system chatter, giving you the lowest latency for game data on the most controllable network hardware available.

Through the detection and prioritization of gaming traffic you can finally fully utilize your network without fear of being kicked from an on-line game because of high ping. This enables true multi-tasking without manually enabling or disabling applications, updates and installations. Killer networking actually allows you to use your PC 24 hours a day.

USB Audio Power

USB Audio Power is a breakthrough in Home Theater Entertainment audio quality. Using an unique design, the USB ports onboard provide a TRUE 5V signal that doesn't drop when more devices are connected. This simply means better signal quality over USB, especially for devices that rely on a perfect signal, like USB DAC's as they rely on a perfect transmission of audio bits from the motherboard to the DAC. This also means that external low-noise power supplies are no longer essential for better audio quality as USB Audio Power is able to deliver an optimum USB signal.

  • Enhances USB Audio Quality
  • Stable 5V Power & Better Signal Transmission over USB

Audio Boost

Reward your ears with true quality. Get ready for ear-drum shattering sound, with MSI Audio Boost! With Audio Boost we're delivering the highest audio quality so you can enjoy crystal clear sound and music in games.

Because the complete audio circuitry is isolated from other features, you'll enjoy less interference and more stability.

The built-in headphone amplifier allows you to use studio-grade headgear and get the most amazing sound quality out of your gaming PC.

  • Studio level Integrated 600O Headphone amplifier
  • Gold-flashed audio jacks for pure audio signals
  • EMI shielded audio codec & amplifier
  • High quality Japanese audio capacitors
  • Illuminated Audio Isolation Line

Hear your enemies perfectly, even on an ear-drum shattering battlefield. Thanks to Sound Blaster Cinema, you're getting amazing surround sound with just stereo headphones. Your most important gaming sound effects are reproduced crystal clear allowing you to focus on your game even during extremely long gaming sessions.

Powered by the SBX Pro Studio technologies, Sound Blaster Cinema enables you to clearly hear specific sounds in gaming environments, making your ears a decisive tool on the battlefield.

Gaming Device Port

You want more FPS, lower ping, but why use a pro-gaming mouse with old-fashioned standards? MSI Gaming Device Port is optimized for high polling rate mice (500 to 1000 Hz) which lowers your mouse's response time from 8 milliseconds to 1 millisecond! This gives a much smoother mouse response in games. The additional gold plating on the ports enhances the durability drastically and ensures your PS/2 and USB ports are always working when you ship out to a LAN party.

Gaming Benefits

  • More responsive
  • Smoother gameplay
  • Faster reactions

Technical Benefits

  • 3X more gold than regular connectors
  • 10X longer lifetime when plugging and unplugging
  • prevents oxidation and corrosion

Military Class 4 Components

Military Class 4 is the next step in high quality components. The Hi-c Cap, Super Ferrite Choke and Solid CAPs will make sure that your PC runs more stable under extreme conditions.

Hi-C Cap

A Hi-C Cap is a very small, but super-efficient capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing around a CPU socket to install large coolers, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. Thanks to Hi-c CAP`s MSI mainboards are the most energy efficient in the market.

Dark Caps

With their aluminum core design, Dark CAP's have been a staple in high-end design motherboard designs and provides lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as its over-10-year lifespan.

Super Ferrite Choke

Super Ferrite Choke uses a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Choke to run at a 35 degree Celsius lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency and better overclocking power stability.

Military Class Essentials

The core of Military Class 4 is based on the essentials which increase your stability in the toughest conditions.

The humidity protection and high temperature protection ensure your system can survive each environment, no matter how harsh. The new structure of the PCB limits EMI radiation.

On top of that the all the connectors have ESD protection in order to prevent short circuit.

OC Genie 4

OC Genie is the world's first built-in hardware overclocking technology on motherboards. With this new generation of OC Genie, we're giving you even more performance. The OC Genie button works as you expect it to, but now you have even more control. Flick the OC_MODE switch from the normal "Turbo" to "GAMING" and your PC gets another adrenalin shot! For the more advanced overclockers, we give you complete control of your settings with "My OC Genie".

Click BIOS 4

The MSI Click BIOS 4 is the latest UEFI BIOS with optimizations for Windows 8. Besides that, it also reacts faster, runs smoother and has better mouse support. And all this comes with advanced and cool features.

Hardware Monitor

Hardware monitor allows you to take control of your system through Total Fan and check your primary system characteristics in an easy graphical interface.

Board Explorer

This feature shows the user a visual representation of all the connectors of the motherboard and displays which devices are connected. In case of a device having a bad connection you can easily trace it with board explorer.

OC Profiles Preview

With OC profiles you can rapidly switch between settings and you can save up to eight profiles. In the blink of an eye, you can see the differences between your current system settings and any of the stored profiles.

Optimized for Multiple Graphics Cards

MSI GAMING motherboards feature one or more PCI-Express 3.0 slots, perfectly aligned and with enough space for an optimal airflow when using multiple graphics cards. That way, you will never have to worry about an overheating PC, while you are enjoying the best graphics jumping off from your monitor when running AMD CrossFire gaming setup.

Command Center

Total Control

MSI's exclusive Command Center software is a very powerful tool to push your motherboard to the max. With a very intuitive touch ready interface, Command Center allows users to tune settings to increase system stability, maximize overclocking performance and adjust cooling features.

Graphical Fan Control & Monitoring

Command Center features a total new fan control interface from which users can control all fans' speed on the motherboard and set profiles. Users can real-time monitor the status of the fans as well as record fan speed, voltage and temperate status into a log file. This feature is both convenient for pro-gamers and overclockers.

Unlimited RAMDisk

4 out of 5 eggsVery Solid AMD APU Motherboard!

Pros: This is the best motherboard I've ever owned with superior sound quality! The Audio Boost function, Realtek HD Audio, and shielded audio circuits built directly into the board all contribute to the best sound quality I've ever heard with an integrated motherboard audio system. My old Logitech 5.1 speaker system was reborn with this motherboard. You won't need to purchase a separate audio card with this board!

The UEFI BIOS is a very user-friendly interface, and setting the system up was a snap.

Cons: I purchased this board in November 2015, and am currently running an AMD Trinity 5600 A8 APU with 8 GB AMD memory, and an MSI R7 360 video card. After running "folding@home" for a couple months in OC Genie Gear 1 mode, there have been a few, occasional system restarts which I haven't thoroughly investigated yet ... but, my guess is it's due to some application interfering with Windows 10. Otherwise, with a 520 watt Corsair PSU, I haven't had any recurrent problems with this mainboard.

Reason for giving this product 4 eggs: I received a 15 dollar rebate in the form of an American Express gift card. Good luck trying to use this card anywhere! I tried online retailers and hadn't any luck making a purchase. I ended up cutting up the card. Why can't MSI just issue a check?

Other Thoughts: Newegg is listing this product (0n 12 Feb 2016) as unavailable. Hopefully, this is NOT a discontinued MSI product?

2 out of 5 eggsFlop from MSI

Pros: Looks beautiful
Has igpu Full sized DP1.2 port
great vrm cooling
i posted no issue and it runs stock FINE

Cons: a lot...
died after a month
UEFI. HORRIBLE just.... why MSI. ive had much better experiences.
memory timing issues, had to pull back my memory off of xmp but still keep poor timings (my memory was great, on asus board 2400mhz 2x8GB 10-11-12-11-28 no problem)
bad apu overclocker igpu is limited by bios. this is meant for the lower end apus not the 785(7)0k
only got 4.3ghz on this board and not a hair over with my 7870k and i have a golden chip. on my asus crossblade ranger i hit 4.8ghz ROCK STABLE at 1.375v with those mem timings and igpu at 1100mhz, With that OC you can game COMFORTABLY anything demanding medium settings 1080p 40-60fps. on this msi board micro stuttering at stock igpu clock and medium settings 720p 40-50fps.
OC genie light cant turn off random nasty blue color

Other Thoughts: honestly too lazy to write all of my griefs of this mobo. I owned it over a month ago. I threw way too many hours on it tweaking. it died a month in. newegg was awesome throughout and allowed a return. I didnt have to give them my business again, i did and bought the asus crossblade ranger. ive used it before, it is worth every penny. it literally is the flagship fm2+ mobo.

newegg put a sale up to get rid of these from what it seems to have no intention to stock them again. because its a garbage product.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board but!!!

Pros: This does everything and more for the needs that are thrown at it and then some.

Cons: How ever its was made great to a point but BE FARE WARNED!! The clips that hold the PCI-E and the memory are very weak. I have very small hands with not so great strength in them anymore and well I even broke a few clips that hold the memory very disappointed cause I built this pc for another person and boy it embarrassed me to let them know to not bounce the tower around or well bad things can happen. I like MSI parts a lot cause I run them in my tower and well never had this much trouble with them. The clips still work to a point therefore holding the memory in but if the thing case gets bumped to hard well like i said not good. It doesn't stop me from buying from MSI but it makes me think twice.

Other Thoughts: Everything in this mobo runs awesome enough that it I set this up with a the AMD A10-7850K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AD785KXBJABOX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon R7 and 16gb of ram and well it plays Fallout 4 like its sleeping however along with a SAPPHIRE R9 290 Tri-X it gives a huge bump. to be safe though settings on the graphics are always at medium during full game paly.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Motherboard - 10/10 Would Buy Again

Pros: -Really nice looking motherboard.
-Rear I/O has more than enough for most people's needs.
-Has support for a large array of speakers on rear I/O.
-4 RAM slots makes upgrading easier.
-BIOS is easy to use and very clean looking.
-All-around great product from MSI.

Cons: -Rear I/O shield has a thick foam on it that made installation into my case a bit difficult.
-Only 2 case fan headers (Which I easily fixed with two specialized cables @$2.99 ea., allowing for six fans.)
-USB ports remain powered when computer is off, keeping anything connected powered. While this is great for charging your devices, it's really annoying that I have to turn off my PSU to power off my mouse, keyboard, headset adapter, wi-fi adapter, and other devices.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase, and would highly recommend this motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk Pure & Simple

Pros: Has four DIMM slots that is one of the features that sold me on this board. I hear the DisplayPort does not work. I did not install the Killer utility, just the driver and the throughput is less than I normally get on my gigabit network when backing up the SSD hard disk, which you should do often with this system, since its so unstable. MSI would be better off to buy an Award BIOS rather than trying to bake their own.

Cons: Things were going smooth until I tried to reduce the excessive BIOS boot time by disabling some of the unused boot devices. Then the system froze after hitting F10 and rebooting and sat there dead for several minutes. Clearing the CMOS got it to boot-up again with a warning that it had recovered from a serious error. Then it could not find the Windows boot sector and I had to reset the boot sector device again. Eventually I was able to get the BIOS set the way I wanted, but it was an extremely clunky experience. Seems unstable at the rated DDR3-2133 with RAM rated at 11-11-11-30 at 1.6VDC? Wants to fallback to DDR-1600 which is unacceptable. Unstable at XMS-1 with G. Skill DDR-3.

The worst part about this motherboard is the front panel connector JFP1. The pins are non-standard spacing and too short on this connector, so the case front panel cables keep falling off. Wasted almost an hour of time trying to get the connectors to slide on, only to discover the spacing was too close together and the pins are too short to support the connectors properly. I wondered whjy them pins kept bending. The large cover over the Southbridge further impedes access to this connector. MSI ought to provide a pin holder like Asus does to fix this manufacturing mistake. I can't send a build out to a cutomer with the power switch cable contantly falling off because the pins are too short! This is an unmitigated disaster!

Something on this motherboard causes utility programs like Speccy to misread the CPU temperature. It constantly indicates a high CPU temperature over 180°F., even though when you view it in the BIOS it is normal 116°F. The heat sink also measures a normal temperature with an infrared meter. Not sure waht to make of this one? The CPU is seated properly against the socket base. Unless that is out of spec as well?

Other Thoughts: Been building systems since the 1980's and this has to be one of the worst motherboards I have ever worked with.

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost a great board

Pros: looks great, sound is awesome for onboard, fairly easy to set up.

Cons: Bios is a bit clunky. OC genie caused the system to have a high pitch whine while moving the mouse or having a browser open. That went away as soon as OC Genie was turned off. And the killer suite and hardware are horrible. There is no redeeming factor to the software or LAN hardware on this board. Was forced to buy an internal LAN card to be able to stream videos! I have a 40mps DSL connection and until I used this motherboard stream at 1080 HD on every site and have low latency and no lag in MMO's. I uninstalled, reinstalled, tweeked read every review on here and MSI site and all I saw was how bad it was. With new card installed full network speeds are back! I will make sure to NEVER buy a board with this again. With so many complaints about it on their own site you would think they use the standard intel or gigabyte LAN. Oh well, if you have read anything about this board you are likely to know all of this as well, purchase a LAN card with your motherboard and you are good.

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome motherboard with a terrible rebate

Pros: Exceptional motherboard. As many BIOS options as can be found on an FM2 board of any size. Beautifully built. Excellent OC ability (running an 860K at 4.7GHz on air with no throttling and a lower-than-average voltage)

Cons: The rebate.

The time window for the rebate to be mailed off is generally less than a week from the time that your order arrives. Comically deceptive. Until MSI picks better partners for their rebates, I am more than happy to offer a terrible review of the process of being deceived.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Edward,
Sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your rebate. Please contact 4myrebate customer service team at 877-552-3988 or 954-573-6751 (fax), or Please have tracking number readily available before contacting an agent. They will be happy to assist you!
