Killer E2200 Game Networking

Kill Your Lag!

The Killer E2200 Intelligent Networking Platform is built for maximum networking performance for online games and high-quality streaming media. Featuring Advanced Stream Detect? Killer E2200 automatically detects and accelerates game traffic ahead of other network traffic for smoother, stutter-free in-game performance and the competitive edge. With this exclusive, automatic traffic prioritization, games and real-time chat get priority over low-level system chatter, giving you the lowest latency for game data on the most controllable network hardware available.

Through the detection and prioritization of gaming traffic you can finally fully utilize your network without fear of being kicked from an on-line game because of high ping. This enables true multi-tasking without manually enabling or disabling applications, updates and installations. Killer networking actually allows you to use your PC 24 hours a day.

USB Audio Power

USB Audio Power is a breakthrough in Home Theater Entertainment audio quality. Using an unique design, the USB ports onboard provide a TRUE 5V signal that doesn't drop when more devices are connected. This simply means better signal quality over USB, especially for devices that rely on a perfect signal, like USB DAC's as they rely on a perfect transmission of audio bits from the motherboard to the DAC. This also means that external low-noise power supplies are no longer essential for better audio quality as USB Audio Power is able to deliver an optimum USB signal.

  • Enhances USB Audio Quality
  • Stable 5V Power & Better Signal Transmission over USB

Audio Boost

Reward your ears with true quality. Get ready for ear-drum shattering sound, with MSI Audio Boost! With Audio Boost we're delivering the highest audio quality so you can enjoy crystal clear sound and music in games.

Because the complete audio circuitry is isolated from other features, you'll enjoy less interference and more stability.

The built-in headphone amplifier allows you to use studio-grade headgear and get the most amazing sound quality out of your gaming PC.

  • Studio level Integrated 600O Headphone amplifier
  • Gold-flashed audio jacks for pure audio signals
  • EMI shielded audio codec & amplifier
  • High quality Japanese audio capacitors
  • Illuminated Audio Isolation Line

Hear your enemies perfectly, even on an ear-drum shattering battlefield. Thanks to Sound Blaster Cinema, you're getting amazing surround sound with just stereo headphones. Your most important gaming sound effects are reproduced crystal clear allowing you to focus on your game even during extremely long gaming sessions.

Powered by the SBX Pro Studio technologies, Sound Blaster Cinema enables you to clearly hear specific sounds in gaming environments, making your ears a decisive tool on the battlefield.

Gaming Device Port

You want more FPS, lower ping, but why use a pro-gaming mouse with old-fashioned standards? MSI Gaming Device Port is optimized for high polling rate mice (500 to 1000 Hz) which lowers your mouse's response time from 8 milliseconds to 1 millisecond! This gives a much smoother mouse response in games. The additional gold plating on the ports enhances the durability drastically and ensures your PS/2 and USB ports are always working when you ship out to a LAN party.

Gaming Benefits

  • More responsive
  • Smoother gameplay
  • Faster reactions

Technical Benefits

  • 3X more gold than regular connectors
  • 10X longer lifetime when plugging and unplugging
  • prevents oxidation and corrosion

Military Class 4 Components

Military Class 4 is the next step in high quality components. The Hi-c Cap, Super Ferrite Choke and Solid CAPs will make sure that your PC runs more stable under extreme conditions.

Hi-C Cap

A Hi-C Cap is a very small, but super-efficient capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing around a CPU socket to install large coolers, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. Thanks to Hi-c CAP`s MSI mainboards are the most energy efficient in the market.

Dark Caps

With their aluminum core design, Dark CAP's have been a staple in high-end design motherboard designs and provides lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as its over-10-year lifespan.

Super Ferrite Choke

Super Ferrite Choke uses a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Choke to run at a 35 degree Celsius lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency and better overclocking power stability.

Military Class Essentials

The core of Military Class 4 is based on the essentials which increase your stability in the toughest conditions.

The humidity protection and high temperature protection ensure your system can survive each environment, no matter how harsh. The new structure of the PCB limits EMI radiation.

On top of that the all the connectors have ESD protection in order to prevent short circuit.

OC Genie 4

OC Genie is the world's first built-in hardware overclocking technology on motherboards. With this new generation of OC Genie, we're giving you even more performance. The OC Genie button works as you expect it to, but now you have even more control. Flick the OC_MODE switch from the normal "Turbo" to "GAMING" and your PC gets another adrenalin shot! For the more advanced overclockers, we give you complete control of your settings with "My OC Genie".

Click BIOS 4

The MSI Click BIOS 4 is the latest UEFI BIOS with optimizations for Windows 8. Besides that, it also reacts faster, runs smoother and has better mouse support. And all this comes with advanced and cool features.

Hardware Monitor

Hardware monitor allows you to take control of your system through Total Fan and check your primary system characteristics in an easy graphical interface.

1 out of 5 eggsNot as good as it looks

Pros: *Motherboard Looks Great
*BIOS is simply a masterpiece
*Connectors and plugins are well placed

Cons: *Extremely sensitive to overclocking, especially ram speed
*Voltage control is occasionally totally unresponsive
*Broken AMD-Vi implementation

Other Thoughts: The thing that bugs me the most about this motherboard is how sensitive it is to overclocking. I have 4 sticks of Kingston HyperX ram rated at 2400. The motherboard advertises 2400 yet when I push the ram speed above 2100, everything crashes. Even when running at 2100 my system becomes extremely unstable.

Also, the motherboard is a poor/broken AMD-Vi implementation. This means you're going to have a somewhat sub-par experience if you plan on doing any visualization. If you are running Linux (which I do), your system logs will be filled with the following error:

AMD-Vi: Event logged [IO_PAGE_FAULT device=01:00.0 domain=0x0017 address=0x0000000000001000 flags=0x0000]

5 out of 5 eggsOC Genie is great

Pros: I never intended to overclock but the OC Genie made it way too easy to get a few more megahertz out of my 7870k APU once I'd gotten an aftermarket cooler.

Red and Black always looks cool.

Cons: Nothing to complain about yet.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks great...

Pros: Looks good and is an easy build.

Cons: Second PCI slot when used, blocks some ports

Other Thoughts: I got away with a huge heat sink and was sill able to install a graphics card in the primary slot. I was afraid I would have issues but I didn't.

2 out of 5 eggsWorst mobo ever owned

Pros: Reasonably priced

Cons: After 9 months in use, randomly rebooting with all USBs disconnected. Hard reboot needed to bring the computer back to operation.
Incompatible drivers with windows 8.1
Was not able to connect my own graphic card, every few days the display will turn off and never go back until I disconnect all monitors reboot and reconnect.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly (JPWR1 and JPRW2).
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product...... except.

Pros: The board is a well designed set giving you fill capability for fan expansion an distance from ram slots to install a great cooler of larger size. Now i LOVE the fact that is it a Red Motherboard so that when i get my LED Red Fans they match with the board an shows. This is your AMD system. An to your left is the Intel system you built.Thank you for that MSI.

This board is very cool to the touch when on.Does not cause additional heat with electricity running through it like other boards. An im not sure but it has a overlay over it to prevent moisture from damaging it.Or at least looks like it.So You get a Star!Fits in a Mid tower Very well.with a sleak black design.Looks great did not have LED lights that conflicted colors.Great job! Another Star.

Cons: MSI:You do not have that many fan slots. What the hell?!I was looking for front fan slot ok found CPU slot.Rear fan slot found it.OK.i need side fan ......... Um.Where is the side window fan? Are you kidding me!?! OK i would not complain about that normally because every motherboard had a fan slot for this. There isn't one.So my wires are jumbled around in the case. That stinks.Know this when you buy this board guys.

Downside on Audio.Yes it gives perfectly great Sound quality. But Hate to nitpick Does not have THX or DTS sound emulations programs on the disk. Not a big con but i would have giving a higher score for that.

Other Thoughts: Still an Overall great motherboard.Quality for the most part.Somethings i object to does not change my feeling towards the purchase of the board.I expected more based on my own personal feelings and experience with older boards like my other boards i purchased.

1 out of 5 eggsA88xm Gaming Motherboard

Pros: The Bios for this motherboard is amazing. It has an incredibly user friendly interface.

Cons: I went with this, AMD FM2/FM2+, motherboard specifically because of the "military class 4 components". After comparing other boards in the same price range, the military class 4 components were the deal breaker that swayed me to pick the MSI A88xm Gaming. However, upon receiving the motherboard I was very disappointed when I opened the box (which was curiously not sealed), to find that one of the clips on the second ram slot was broken. The plastic clip had been snapped off, and suspiciously placed back on the motherboard. Furthermore, while building the computer I removed and reinserted the CMOS battery. I did this very gently, as I would with any given computer component. When the CMOS battery snapped back into place, a capacitor next to the CMOS snapped off the board. I didn't even touch the capacitor, it just basically fell off on it's own. It's ironic because MSI is advertising the military class 4 components, or more specifically, their Hi-C capacitor's.
The computer I was building was for someone else, I had little time to complete the build, and certainly not enough time to prove to MSI that it was their poor manufacturing that caused the damage to the motherboard. I couldn't in good conscious put this motherboard in the build with an already broken Ram slot, and now a missing capacitor, so I threw the motherboard in the trash and used a different motherboard. I feel very ripped off to say the least.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI comes through again!

Pros: The OC Genie works nicely as does the ramdisk which can be configured through the control center software. VRM heatsink(s) are large but not enough to get in the way of anything. Built a machine from this board to replace my old MSI GT-60 and it does not disappoint.

Cons: None yet...

1 out of 5 eggsJUST LAME

Pros: I bought this because it had 2 pcie 3.0 slots and a space between for dual vid cards to breath. Put it in a cube case that has 5 expansion slots so that I could upgrade to dual R9 290x cards. USB 3.0 header. Support for 2400+ MHz RAM. Newegg Fast low cost shipping.

Cons: USB 3.0 header supidly placed where it is unusable if you put a pair of double slot vid cards on it. Stopped working after 16 days of use exactly 3 days past Newegg's RMA window. Had no choice but to RMA to MSI see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: . I placed an X4 860K Athlon on it as I had no desire to over pay for gpu's I could not / would not use. Mobo sat in it's box for a little over 2 weeks while I waited for a vid card that was over budget at the time I ordered this and a case I iked better for it. I put system together it ran for 16 days and then went dark. The fans spooled up fine, no display. I Tested my vid card first in secondary system it was fine and I swapped all components on the board out with known good ones even placed a spare APU on it, nothing but fans running. So.... at this time I'm 3 days past being able to rma to NewEgg. I contact MSI they give me an RMA I pay 25 bucks to send it to them they send me a refurb back. The whole RMA process takes about 16 days. Excited to be able to put my new gaming rig back together I open the box to find that in place of my pristine new mobo I now have a dusty dirty and scuffed up one with what looks like bits of thermal compound in the socket holes. Of course I call MSI and after an hr and a half get a person to talk to who seems eager to help. For the purpose of documentation I route all communication from here out through email. At this point I believe MSI has the moral and ethical obligation to provide me with a brand new mobo and I explain this politely along with sending pics of the damaged unacceptable mobo. Reply comes back my statement about the new mobo ignored and they keep talking refurb back and forth 2 more times finally my new mobo expectation gets addressed with *gasp!* an excuse that they don't have any new ones they can send. *add sarcasm*I must be stupid at this point because surely I've never heard of a thing known as "DROP SHIPPING". I politely again explain that I know better than that and that if the assisting tech is unable to make this right he needs to pass this along to his boss or even his boss's boss as in to someone with the authority and willingness to make this right and that my new system has been down now for longer than it had ran, 4 weeks down vs. 16 days running. I get another reply that he has looked again and has no new mobo to send me. I have since dropped about 750 bucks on an intel board not made by MSI and the i7 devil's canyon 4.0ghz cpu to go on it with 32 gig of ram. At this point my closing thoughts are simply EffEmmEssEye, They might have nice stuff when it runs but their support and service earns them a place in the corporate garbage dump as far as I’m concerned. This was my first and last MSI product. I built my first comp in 1998 and have built 30 to 40 systems since and never had this sort of issue with a manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: it works as expected, like the red/black theme. Very nice BIOS options. OC Genie

Cons: SATA ports are laying on their sides instead of facing up, which made half of them unusable in the case I bought ( DIYPC Solo-T1-R Black ).

Other Thoughts: This board started right up with no issues.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy installation, good options

Pros: * Well-reviewed in tech press
* Good English language documentation
* Decent component layout
* Interesting BIOS, a bit flashy
* Dual UEFI/Normal BIOS choices
* Physical reset, boot, optimize buttons on board, lit and easy to see.
* AMD processors easy to install. Just pop in, no pressing.
* Lots of indicators, controls and detectors for fan speeds, voltages and temperatures, just about everything. This is not a BIOS short on information.
* One step overclocking.

Cons: * Memory modules go in hard. Took quite bit of pressure to install..
* UEFI BIOS doesn't have explicit unprotect option
* Be careful correctly aligning gold triangle on CPU with socket. Motherboard doesn't have clear indication or mark to orient CPU correctly. *REFER TO DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS*
* Put in DDR3-2400 memory, but it only underclocks it in default setting as DDR3-1600. This can be adjusted.
* SATA edge mount connectors are just awkward.

Other Thoughts: The manual is an important thing with this motherboard, and it's reasonably clear and well-written. You'll find critical information in there. A must-read carefully thing. This is a fairly high-quality item, so you can expect a better experience than you may have had in the past with DIY builds. However, it's not necessary to press the CPU into the socket. Just orient correctly, drop in and close the latch. Easiest install I've had. But read the manual, important!
