3 out of 5 eggsSatisfied Overall

Pros: Cheap. Runs my pair of R9 280x at x8 each. i7 4790k running at 4.8GHz.

Cons: The motherboard would not post. RMA'd it and the new one worked. HOWEVER, the sound didn't work and I had to buy a sound card. It was a cheap motherboard and I'm reasonably satisfied with it overall.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's good. But it could have been great

Pros: It's blue, so it went with the build. Let's just get the dumb part out of the way.
It supports Crossfire and SLI, has an insane amount of 3.0 ports as well as multiple 3.0 and 2.0 headers. Plenty of room, not too difficult of an install (though the case leads were a bit annoying compared to other motherboards). BIOS was pretty easy to navigate and flash.

Cons: OK so first things first, the entire reason I removed two eggs is the bloatware. I don't know how much Google pays companies like MSI to force Google Chrome (and more disgustingly, toolbar) on people, but I assume it's about... 8 cents. And that could have been passed onto the customer and I would have still bought it, and gave it five stars. But no, we have to double check that it's not "conveniently" checked to install alongside something like a driver. Companies that do this sicken me, and if this wasn't in every other respect a decent board for the price so far, I would have given it 5 eggs.

I suppose it's worth mentioning they didn't bother to include a case badge either.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I can't say I dislike too much about the board other than the ridiculous bloatware and lack of case badge, so it gets an average review from me.

3 out of 5 eggsLots of issues but [eventually] works well

Pros: Preforms well, fully supports Windows 8, looks cool

Cons: Compatibility issues, BIOS can be had to navigate, driver CD comes with lots of bloat-ware and software you would never want to install.

Other Thoughts: This board did not work with my 16GB of Crucial 1866MHz memory. Caused blue screen errors every few minutes. It also blue-screened several times while installing Windows, but downloading the BIOS update from MSI website via another computer solved the issue. Windows would not install until I installed the update. If you're having issues, make sure you have the latest BIOS update.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty great

Pros: Very intuitive BIOs. Really good value for a z97 chipset board. Overclocks easy, but I don't think it's designed to be pushed too far.

Cons: Only available in blue/black.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Full featured z97 board for a fair price

Cons: 3 way crossfire slots are too close, 3 gfx cards won't fit, which is the reason I bought this mb.

One of my PCI-E was defective didn't notice until after it was built, cost me about 4 hours of labor and the time + $ for shipping it back for replacement.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this for 3 way crossfire.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard for First Build

Pros: Easy set up
Durable

Cons: Location for the motherboard screw ins near the top were some what difficult to insert... Maybe I just have big hands bu the ones near the top of the case... I dropped those screws about three or four times trying to get them in there.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I thought I had messed this motherboard up with my rookie mistakes but she works like I never did anything wrong. Directions were fairly straight forward, except for the front panel directions (Power buttons, Lighting, and Reset)

3 out of 5 eggsUnfortunately DOA

Pros: Well laid out, good price on sale/rebate

Cons: well it was dead on arrival so thats a con

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately this motherboard came to me DOA. I'm not sure if it was beaten around too much in transit (the shipping box was crushed some but the mobo box was not dented), or if it was manufactured poorly. The board seemed to be well laid out and easy to reach everything. Mine just wouldn't post. Since I had my entire office apart to build a new machine I ended up replacing it with an overnight shipped Gigabyte H97-D3H. I didn't need the overclocking abilities of the MSI board but the price at the time was $15 less than the Gigabyte so this had seemed like a good deal. I think I would have been happy with the MSI if it had posted. I'm giving it 3 stars based on potential.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Choice In This Price Range

Pros: Tons of features for an entry level motherboard. (M.2 is nice) Easy to overclock and easy to update bios which in past years could give beginners problems. (Make sure you update bios) At the current promotional price this board is a no-brainer.

Cons: First board came DOA. It happens you just don't want it to happen to you.

Other Thoughts: 5 eggs for the board in this price range, -1 egg for the first board being DOA

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Z97-G55 SLI

Pros: This mobo far exceeded my expectations. It feels solid in hand. No issues with installation. The overclock genie did not work on my 4670k, but it was easy to change the settings manually. I have ran the 4670k up to 4.4ghz with no issues. On top of everything else, it is gorgeous if you are looking for a blue theme.

Cons: none yet.
