4 out of 5 eggsGreat ATX for cheaper builds

Pros: Excellent choice for an 80-100 ATX board, gets the job done with some good options for expansion as well. Reliable as well

Cons: -Not full sized ATX: as others have mentioned, the board is smaller than most ATX boards and only has 6 screws, meaning the board will bend when plugging in the 24 pin power connector.
-Comes with MSI Live Update: On the driver disc, MSI includes several bloatware programs, including the dread MSI Live Update app. AT ALL COSTS, NEVER USE THIS APPLICATION TO FLASH YOUR BIOS. In fact, I wouldn't even install it at all, MS Update is perfectly good enough to update all your drivers. I used MSI Live Update and it suggested to flash my BIOS, which then bricked my board. I got it replace thanks to Newegg's great customer support, but it is still disappointing that MSI includes this software that will likely break your board (even MSI's customer service team warns customers against using MSI LIve Update.)

Other Thoughts: Though I did brick the first board I received due to MSI Live Update, if you are looking for a quality board in this price range, this is a fantastic option that will serve your PC well.

4 out of 5 eggsIt gets the job done

Pros: It works! Also, the BIOS interface is really nice! And it has everything you need, assuming those needs aren't too esoteric...

Cons: It's kinda small. Somewhere along the line, Motherboard manufacturers and Case-makers stopped agreeing on how big a board should be. As a result, the board doesn't reach far enough to be secured along its edge, which means you have NO support when plugging in your 24-pin power cable. This can very easily lead to snapping off the entire right side of the motherboard if you're not careful!

I didn't do this, but I DID spend an hour trying to plug the cable in carefully yet firmly. Plugging those things in is a big enough pain without worrying about pushing too hard and flushing $110 down the drain.

Now true, you can plug your power in before you put the mobo in the case, but then A) you may not be able to take advantage of a case's cord-hiding features (unless your PSU is fully modular), and b) you have to do this AFTER you plug in the CPU because the retention clips stick out 1/8th of an inch further than everything else, denying you a flat, firm surface.

Now don't get me wrong, there ARE screw-holes along the right-most edge, but no case I've ever seen have those little screw-support nuts in those locations. So maybe it's the fault of the people who make cases, who knows?

Also, no ATA/IDE cable slot. Which means if you're still using an old, but still perfectly-working DVD drive, you either have to get a clunky adapter, use up half your PCI slots on an ATA expansion card (there's only 2, 'natch!), or buy a new SATA-compatable drive. Luckily I figured this out before I bought and made arrangements or else I'd be S.O.L and unable to install Windows on my new machine! I know it's 2015 but come on, it's not like I'm asking for an ISA slot or anything!

Other Thoughts: I realize the cons section was much longer than the pros section, yet I'm giving this thing 4 eggs anyway. Why? Because at the end of the day, it does what it's supposed to do, it does it well, and I really can't hold it against MSI or Intel for not being backwards-compatible by a decade.

The board seems lacking in features that my old AMD board possessed, but seeing as I never used most of those options anyway, they're not missed here. So not a con.

Also, why is every single intel board black? What if I wanted blue or red or something? Though that's a personal aesthetic complaint, and nothing against the board itself, so no points off there, either.

And finally, as mentioned before, there's no ATA slot, only 2 PCI slots, and overall is pretty bare-bones... but it has integrated graphics? The only thing most enthusiasts will NOT need and they include it? I find this comical. But w/e!

So all together, the board does what it needs to, I'm happy with it... I'm just not enthusiastic enough about it to justify a 5-egg rating.

1 out of 5 eggsWTH MSI !

Pros: Great Cheap Motherboard

Cons: Whatever you do, do not update the bios with MSI LIVE UPDATE. Just don't update the motherboard at all. I did and my pc cant display anything. I tried everything to jumpers, and still doesn't work. Now i have to go through a hassle to RMA it and it wasn't even my fault. MSI disappoints me. I don't even know if just changing my motherboard will fix the problem. Someone please give me ANY tips on how to solve this before i RMA this DAM motherboard.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Works fine
Looks nice
Easy to use click bios

Cons: Died in 2 months of light use. I am disappointed, but I am glad there is a 3 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: I will be replacing it, and hoping it will not die. If it does die again I will be going with a different board.
