3 out of 5 eggsGood Board, Weird Issues

Pros: Great UEFI BIOS, fantastic overclocking options, intelligent placement of SATA connectors, not too expensive for what you get out of it and goes on sale randomly all the time

Cons: MOBO died about a month after purchase. I installed some Windows updates and upon restarting, the MOBO would turn on and everything but there would be no display. After hours upon hours of troubleshooting and testing every single component I determined the board was bad. MSI's RMA process was pretty spectacular, I don't understand why a lot of people complain about it. I sent my board to MSI, and within 2 days of receipt they sent me a new board, cannot complain about that at all. When the new board arrived, for some reason it was locking my clock speed of my FX-8350 at 1.4 ghz and would never bump back up to the stock 4 ghz speed. I had to do some crazy stuff in the BIOS in order to get my processor back to the stock speed, and I'm not even sure what settings finally fixed it, but it was kind of a pain to have to go through all that.

Other Thoughts: MSI is a great company, I have never had problems with their video cards, so I thought I would try their motherboard. I can't say I have been too impressed, but I would continue to buy from MSI because they did not mess with me and got my RMA taken care of fast and with no questions asked. I might stick to just their video cards though.

3 out of 5 eggsissues with bios on mine.

Pros: looks good.. best looking I/o shield I've ever seen, plus it has a nice thick padding on it. seals up nicely.
it looks nice.
the audio has a really nice red led that shows where it's seperate on the pcb, nice touch.
packaging was great.
bios gui is great, fan controller in bios is awesome. voltages stayed where I told them too, hardly any vdroop.
hardware wise the board was solid.

Cons: the bios, up to date v22.2 but yet, very bad at posting, even when making a minor change, like the memory from 1033mhz to 1333 or 1600mhz. I have 2x4gb Kingston hyper x 1866mhz sticks. both previously used and good.. a 550w bronze seasonic psu.
working with a known to be good, known to unlock and known to overclock from 2.8ghz to 3.8ghz or 3.5ghz when unlocked sempron 145 (athlon x2 245)
I'd make changes in the bios..save and restart.. fails to post, power off, start, boots into Windows, stress test, check voltages, temps, everything well within great ranges.
I've unlocked and overclocked this cpu with a few different boards.
this board hardware wise was capable, but software bios wasn't it kept failing to post.
the clear cmos is underneath the gpu. but can easily be shorted with a knife etc (be sure the powers off!)
constantly resets my memory to 1033mhz speed.
change, save & restart.....hangs, hangs..power off, start, it's fine.
restart the machine
gives an error about failing to post.

4 out of 5 eggsfixed it

Pros: last review i promise.....

Cons: disabled 7 & 8 so now im on 6 cores and the games are very stable, so this mobo cant handle 8 cores only 6 and lower. so if u guys think of getting this mobo buy the fx 6 core if u already have gotten the 8 core disable 2 of them will fix the laggy fsp in games.

2 out of 5 eggsfollow up

Pros: Ok I got the new 280 series graphics card and had no luck laggy n audio echo still there. Either defect mobo or FX 8 cores aren't good for gaming. I can do web browsing and watch videos and styff but just during gaming is horrible. I would RMA but been more than 30 days. Stick with quad cores for gaming because my fm2 A series performs better than FX series.

Cons: Not good for gaming is just the looks that gets your attention. Been bragging about MSI and AMD but I don't know who to blame MSI or the FX CPU. I did search online and most ppl say FX series aren't good for gaming.

Other Thoughts: Stick with the A series AMD APU.

3 out of 5 eggsBasically paid for looks

Pros: Ok so got this mobo so i can get the fx 8 core but for some reason when i play games online, audio get choppy and so does the game. cpu usage is 30% in the game. i reinstalled windows and all drivers and game still problem is there, even the graphics card drivers were reinstalled. and rams always run hot even underclocked and drop voltage still very hot. i put my ram and graphics card back to my fm2 mobo quad core game runs fine and ram run cool even on OC. so im guessing something is wrong with the 970 mobo. but one last thing to do is get a 280 series graphics card to see if it fixes the laggy situation durring combat audio maybe my Afox 6570 graphics card is bottle necking. ill update here when i get results.

Cons: Rams runs very hot no matter what i do, under clock, lower voltage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Much bigger improvement over the MSI G46-970a than I thought it might be.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Match up this board with an FX-6300, an FX-8320E, or an FX-8370E and you are good to go!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything about the board.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: While I think this board is perfect, I did notice some things that could have been a flaw in the board or a mistake on my part. First the IO shield when I installed it I thought it was in right little did I know it was not. So I had to take everything out and redo it. Unfortunately it did not fix my problem my graphic card did not line up right. So I think the IO shield could have been warped in the making of it.

5 out of 5 eggsbeautiful

Pros: beautiful looking
lots of extras
really nice case badge

Cons: none as of yet

Other Thoughts: Just received this product. I have not installed it yet, but it looks wonderful. Take this review with a grain of salt, but this motherboard looks beautiful and will be a perfect gaming motherboard with the graphics card I will be buying in the future.
