4 out of 5 eggsBasic little server board

Pros: Basic board, no major frills, but rock solid and still inexpensive.

Cons: none really for what you expect for this price level.

Other Thoughts: Threw into a basic 2U case with 8GB and Win2008 x64 with 4x 500gb in RAID5... works great.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: This is great board for the price. Strong and easy to set up, especially the RAID.

Cons: None other than you really have to watch out what kind of RAM you slap in this board. Certain types will not work. The first board I bought, the RAM didn't work, but once I fought with Asus tech support I got the right answer. I just hope I don't have to call them back for anything more.

Other Thoughts: I love the board and haven't had any problems (knock on wood). Just the Asus tech support is a little hard to follow.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Little Server Board

Pros: Everything you want in a server board, without all the gamerkiddie junk you see on desktop boards. Supports ECC memory. The quality and support of ASUS.

Cons: Specs say DDR2 667... not the fastest ram on the market but still good. Use the drivers off ASUS website rather than the included CD.

Other Thoughts: I put a Core2 Quad Q6600 and 4x2GB of Crucial ECC DDR2 667 memory in one of these in a 2U rackmount. Went together flawlessly and gave me no difficulties so I'm building another just like it!

1 out of 5 eggsASUS P5M2-E

Pros: Cheap for a server mother board.

Cons: DOA.

CONS -> I love buying from NewEgg. :)

Other Thoughts: I owned and installed for my company quite many. But many of them failed before other brands after one/two years. I guess this is my last time buying ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo so far

Pros: My first build mainly for learning. Good performance for the price. Installed windows server 2008 trial version and works fine.

Cons: The instruction on the CPU 4pin fan connection suggests to change the CPU fan jumper. This caused CPU fan error but was fixed when reverting to the default setting.

Other Thoughts: C2D E4500 2.2G, KINGSTON KVR667D2E5/2GI,HD 160G|WD 7K 8M SATA2,
LG 18X SATA DVD-/+RW DUAL LAYER, ANTEC 500W SONATA III CASE.

Pros: Good price. This is the my first ASUS MOBO purchase, my first choise in MOBO's is MSI but this was offered in combo deal with WHS.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I used this MOBO to build my WHS.
Nice board clean install in Antec Atlas 550 server case, Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Server Memory. I will continue to use this MOBO for all future systems.

4 out of 5 eggsWHS

Pros: works perfect with home server, good deal in combo package,i had no problems at all with home server install or drivers. rock solid. i dont know about heart touching.

Cons: 4 sata, no firewire

Other Thoughts: i had some ocz plat. rev 2, worked with no problem, e 6600, runs cool and stable. from what ive read on the home server forums this has faster disk performance than HPs home server. my server only uses 77 watts under load with 2gigs ram, e6600, dvd rw, 2 500gig hd, firewire card, sata card,

4 out of 5 eggshome server

Pros: works perfect with home server. i had left over parts from a upgrade, i used ocz plat. rev 2. 2 gigs, e 6600. i had no troubles with home server, booted first time, runs fast, draws 77 watts. well worth the money in the combo deal.

Cons: if it had fire wire and e-sata it would be perfect.

Other Thoughts: its overboard for required specs but this is one peice of equipment i dont want to have to upgrade or repair for a long time. add ons in the future may take a lot of computing power.
