1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: The board posts just fine, and windows installs no problem. but the drivers from the Asus site itself REFUSE to install. So I cant use this board for anything now.

Other Thoughts: Never buying an Asus product again. ths other Asus board I have had the sound die in it.

Cons: didnt come with driver install disk

Other Thoughts: i know that it is a open box item but i thought that i would be able to download the audio driver from asus but cant seem to find the one that i need can only download realtek high def audio but it doesnt seem to work with xp proX64 bit and all the other drivers dont work either so i will download xp pro and then try again

3 out of 5 eggsno video

Pros: none so far

Cons: well i think from the title you can tell what the problem is. as soon as i got this product i opened it up placed it in the computer and pushed the power button and to my surprise there is no video being sent out tried 3 different monitors nothing.

Other Thoughts: will write another review soon hopefully with better news that it may just be that i have to download the video driver to the HD from a different computer and then place the HD in this computer with this motherboard and hopefully it works then

but for now thought that windows xp would have had the driver but if it is the motherboard i will definitely be sending this back

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but far a way from perfect

Pros: Inexpensive, but very simple with very poorly designed RAID. beside the point that you can not load Vista on it because it does not contains drivers, dealing with a RAID is total mess (I am storage/raid engineer) Once in raid mode on raid-1 you will not be able to boot or install OS. If you just go in SATA mode works OK, but on board video card is extremely bad, so count on adding some extra money for decent video card. Overall; not bad but really far a way from OK.

Cons: Newegg service and shipping, perfectly fine

Other Thoughts: I think that it is OK to buy this board if you do not running some heavy video/graphic/game software, just for basics, such as OS, word editing and similar it may be OK.

4 out of 5 eggsAudio Driver headache

Pros: Installed easily, booted up without any problems, loaded up Windows XP without issues....

Cons: Only one ATA serial port.... and the nightmare trying to get the Realtek Audio drivers to

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor: If after loading windows you check and see that the realtek driver did not load, completely remove the Microsoft UAA driver, the realtek drive, go into audio systems and remove both... and delete the UAA driver from the registry (instructions available on line on many different boards). Then, after you;re sure that you;ve gotten rid of these items, re-start, make sure once again that those items are gone (no need to re-load if you have to remove something again at this point)... then load the realtek drivers from the Asus CD. This should do the trick... upon restart, the UAA driver will probably show up and all should be fine.

5 out of 5 eggsRead the specs

Pros: Easy to install. Does what is says it will. POSTed quickly, and no problems.

Cons: I must not have been paying close enough attention that it only had one IDE connection. This kinda got me as this was an upgrade from an IDE-only system. So, I had three IDE pieces to connect (2 CD/DVDs and a hard drive). Given the spacing in the box, I had to choose either the hard drive or the CD/DVDs. So, now I am buying a new CD/DVD drive that is SATA connected.

Other Thoughts: This Micro ATX board is 2/3 the size of the Micro ATX I replaced. Apparently there are different kinds of MicroATX form factors. I imagine this is why they cut the second IDE connection out.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: Have had nothing but good luck with this board. Have purchased 7 of them now, 2 for upgrades, the rest for new builds. Runs Celeron D's Conroe-Ls, Pentium Ds, Dual Celerons. Have yet to bundle one with a Core2Duo but sure it will run fine. Running 667 value RAM from either Corsair or Kingston. One IDE and 2 SATA. PCI-E x16 & x1.

Cons: Occasional issues with BIOS needing updating to support CPU properly and driver install issues. HD Audio on my last board would not install from the CD, so I downloaded the driver from ASUS. It was in RAR format, so you will need winrar to open it. *sigh The Asus BIOS updater DOES work, just have to make sure you have internet up and running and be patient with it, but do NOT use it unless there is a reason (such as you are getting the microcode error for the CPU).
Outside of these few things, I have not had any installation or reliability issues. Asus continues to provide me solid reliable boards as they have for years.

Other Thoughts: This is a second review of the board, as I continue to install and use these. Figured an update of my experience for others would help. Really makes a nice affordable Intel system build for lower end systems. Not for high performance or gaming builds as it has a lower FSB but still an excellent board for everyday use, especially for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Green Light.

Cons: Didn't post.

Other Thoughts: Thought I'd take a chance with this board, I'll never get an Asus board again after my first one. My first motherboard was an asus, solid board(deluxe model) went dead after a move. After two rmas they didn't fix a thing, Asus support was horrible and still is. Never again. What happened to you Asus?
