2 out of 5 eggsLame board

Pros: when it descides to run it runs great and over clocks like a champ, great bios

Cons: has been the most finicky board i have ever owned, bios wouldnt flash with out great effort and corruption, voltages would not hold to save its life. took a ton of work to make this run stable at a decent overclock.

Other Thoughts: If you like to tinker around and trouble shoot, this is the board for you and will not let down. As for me I would recommend this board only to the very hard core overachievers and people I didnt like. HAs really made me think long and hard about my next Mobo. prob will be an asus but i am sure trying to find another brand to satisfy what i need.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your feedback. With EZ Flash 2 you can easily flash the lastest version within BIOS, without the need to boot to DOS or run a utility in Windows. With overclocking, results vary and sometimes require careful changes in settings. If you are planning to upgrade, we do have the excellent performing P9X79 series based on the X79 chipset that run the latest Intel i7 processors. For more information on the P9X79, please visit: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/P9X79/#CPUS. If you have any questions about ASUS motherboards, please feel free to contact me at cl-benson@asus.com.

5 out of 5 eggsSOLID

Pros: ROCK SOLID. Runs smooth and stable. at one point i had my cpu clocked so high and so hot it was hitting 100c and throttling and it was still stable.

It has tons of features plus crossfire. Also it was one of the first boards to run DDR3 which now is getting very cheap.

Cons: ? I got this board fora reason.

Other Thoughts: It's an Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a stable board

Pros: If it was stable it would be awesome.

Cons: I've owned this board for around a year or so. Even though it only gets one egg, I do like it more than the evga 790i ultra sli. When it doesn't crash, it runs very smooth. Except, it crashes all the time - usually every hour or two. Doesn't matter what I am doing - looking at pictures, playing a game, listening to music, whatever. I have tried several different rams, tried oc'ing and running normal speeds, bios is up to date, etc. I've tried everything (and I had about a year to try - I really hate feeling like I have wasted 300 bucks - which was the price when I bought it).

Other Thoughts: If this board was stable I would give it 5 stars in a heartbeat. It runs very smooth inbetween crashes. But who can put it with a board that crashes every couple of hours. Oh, and don't even try sleep with this board. You will just have to reset it as it never comes out of sleep.

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth the money

Pros: N/A

Cons: I have gone though two boards. I got it to post only once on each board. I think I has a bios problem but couldn't get it to talk the new bios settings.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why they don't update the bios before they send these boards out. Don't they talk to intel so they know what is coming down the line? This would save a lot of time if Asus would just do an update before they send out the boards. Is that asking to much?

I has a Q9450 it wouldn't reconize it. At the time I bought the Mobo it had been out for 8 months. There is no reason for this. don't buy unless you have an old proc.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued Customer,

The bios version that comes on the motherboard is dependent on when the board was manufactured. If you need assistance in updating the bios to support your CPU or further tech support help, please contact us at 1-812-282-2787 and reference case# NE339956.

5 out of 5 eggsMy second P5E3 Delux Wi/Fi

Pros: This is one of the best boards I have ever owned - full featured, set up and post with no issues with Vista Ultimate 64, accepts my Corsiar memory running at XMP 1600 with no problems and correct timings 7-7-7-20 Wi/Fi works like a charm - and the antenas are even much better than my lap top... Loads and loads of features, BIOS are exelent, etc!

Cons: I fired the BIOS on my first board, re-installed the OS to get ready to sell and I did not update the Windows BIOS update utility before trying to flash the BIOS, and I corrupted the BIOS - So I called ASUS and they set me up with a free replacement NO QUESTIONS ASKED! They just said - here is your RMA number - Send it to use, I did and in 2 weeks I got it back! Great Tech support from one of the best Mobo Companies out there! ASUS For The WIN!

Other Thoughts: Make sure you update the Auto Flash utility before attempting to flash BIOS - DONT FLASH BIOS IF YOU DONT HAVE TO...

Turn off the Express Gate in the BIOS if you dont like it and you dont use it - Simple - select "Turn off Express Gate."

Also, not ideal for a duel card CFX Set up.

Had my QX9650 OCed to over 4GHz with out breaking a sweat.

1 out of 5 eggsMajor Disappointment

Pros: Board looks great on paper...

Cons: ...not so much in application. I've gone through 3 of these boards and not a single one worked. I've tested the power supply and wore protective wrist straps to prevent shock damage. Same end result each time.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board late in 2007 and had to replace it multiple times throughout 2008. I have finally given up and it looks like I'll need to just cut my losses since my warranty is up. It really wasn't worth spending the money to send the board back to Asus since I was just getting bad boards back every time. Thankfully, I have been able to use many of the parts in a new computer. However, I'm stuck with a board, processor, and memory collecting dust. The only advice I can give to potential buyers is to stay away - this board is far more trouble than it's worth.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS tech Support sucks!!!

Pros: If have the feeling if I ever get all the issues resolved it may be a good board. Fingers crossed. Have been at it for 3 months now and still have not got any vidio to display. AND ASUS if you read this don't bother with a case number here is mine.310693

Cons: Support suck. Suport Sucks. AND SUPPORT SUCKS!! I have been trying to get them to replace this board for 2 months. The Second time I sent it in Dennis assured me that he would replace the board. When I called to check on things they had just sent the board out(the same one). They said that it tested out fine. Not once did any of the techs that tested my board offer any notes on what was done or how and what was tested. I had to assume that the first time all they did was upgrade the bios, but I ma not even sure that happened because the tech made no notes. Not in the box that was sent back to me, or in the RMA notes that the company keeps.

Other Thoughts: I will not be buying any other ASUS products nor will I promote the company in any way. In fact this story will be told to anyone that will listen and is thinking of buying ASUS products.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst motherboard ever!!!

Pros: ASUS sucks AS$!!!

Cons: The first one I got would not POST, clear the CMOS still nothing. ASUS tech guy agreed it was a piece of crapola, so I RMA it.
The second one would POST and would work fine, but I would get a very high pitched sound out of the speakers. Nothing the ASUS tech guy or I tried worked; yeap you guessed it; RMA it.
On the third, one of the ethernet ports did not work. ASUS tech guy agreed to RMA it.
The forth one, the one I currently use to write this review, one eSATA port does not work right, and each time I put the system in “sleep” when I wake it I loose the sound and when I restart it will not POST, I have to clear the CMOS to be able to restart.
So yeah ASUS sucks AS$!!!

Other Thoughts: You should read my review about my ASUS PG 221 monitor, basically the first two started smoking within a week. They sent me a reconditioned one, it is working so far but I basically paid retail for reconditioned crapola. No more ASUS for me, EVER!!!
