1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this board

Pros: You get a sound card and Company of heroes with it. You get to spend a lot of money shipping the DOA ones back to ASUS, which in turn helps to stimulate the economy!!

Cons: This board flat out sucks, after 1 month of ownership, the RMA fairy showed up and took it to ASUS...board ran fine for 7 months, and now dead again...NO POST!!! Sent back to ASUS to get a refurb and board was DOA..THANKS ASUS for wasting my time!! sent back again to get a board that sparked and burnt at optional fan 1 connection--even though nothing was plugged in to it. So ASUS is making me spend more money shipping back and forth--so I just bought a (competing brand motherboard) today and will use the expectant refurb DOA board I get back from ASUS as a GD paperweight--you owe me ASUS for all the shipping charges--I will never buy from you again!!

Other Thoughts: ASUS should not even build paper airplanes.
They made me select at least one egg.

4 out of 5 eggsResponse to JB and more mb drama

Pros: When the board runs, its unbeatable for ease of over clocking features, etc.

Cons: Like I said JB, I'm rated very high technically, and do know what I'm doing. Including unplugging, or powercycling equipment, as it's called.

I RMA'd the board and ASUS notified me that it was indeed unfixable, MR. I dont know what im doing, try power cycling, JB. The replacement they sent was also fried. The 3rd board they sent was refurbished, looked abused (to me), and ran 3 hrs before none of the board's voltimiter lights turned on. Yes, the nightmare continues. Will be calling ASUS to do another RMA.

Other Thoughts: I want my board to run.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Excellent board, lots of features, comes with lots of cables, fans, etc., that you might need.

Cons: Plugging in USB printer seems to have fried it (kernel comes up most of the way and throws error for the root hub)

Other Thoughts: I build a new box every few years, and have been using Asus for many years now. I always get good value for my dollar.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: I've had this mobo for over 7 months now running a Q9450 with 8gb Corsair Ram and 2 9800GTX+ GPU's and can say it's very stable; OC at up to 20% too. If anyone gave a bad review, they don't know what their doing. BIOS update is current online at ASUS as of June of this year, do this fist. If you had an issue with posting, switch power of at the power supply or remove cord for 10 minutes, it resets itself or use defalt or prior saved BIOS settings. This MOBO needs to be cooled and ASUS gives you many onboard fan outputs too. I have the CPU fluid cooled with 2 120mm fans in the front and one in the back to start with. OC sure but cool the machine, it's begging for air. SLI works great and this board has 2 true X16 2.0 slots. In Gaming I get over 60 FPS which is the max the human eye can see anyway I'm told. So I just love this board. Thanks ASUS for keeping the BIOS updates current.

Cons: EVGA has great tech support but these two GPU's give me trouble running 2 monitors. SLI has promise but neither ASUS nor EVGA can tell me why after boot up my screen resolution drops down different from my settings and its not the Samsung T220 doing this.

Other Thoughts: I'm building a 2nd PC using the ASUS Striker II Formula board, just want the newer 780i chipset. The wife will use this 750i.

4 out of 5 eggsspin's Striker II Formula review

Pros: The board runs TRI-SLI, unlike the striker extreme, which was supposed to. It's also extremely easy to over clock. I run (3) 8800 GTX's on a 1100 watt Tagen power supply. Got raptors, quad core, OCZ sli memory, etc.

Cons: Have had the board almost a year, problem free. Now I get a cpu init light flashing in the back and cant get computer to boot even to bios. Have tried the move a 1.8 volt memory stick to last slot, reseat CPU, clear CMOS, tried another 6600 cpu, etc, etc, etc. I know the boards fried, it just hurts to say it.

Other Thoughts: I liked the guys comments where he said it sucks the life right out of you. I couldnt help but laugh becuase thats what the striker extreme did to me. I just hope this one isnt following on the same path. Brings back nightmares. My Striker Extreme died on me after a year also, almost to the day. Hope its not the way they making motherboards now. I upgraded to the forumula to get away from that. Trying to RMA the it now for repair/replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD BOARD

Pros: Shinny, Looks nice, has pretty lights
It looks like an exotic car but the yugo transmission is killimg it

Cons: RMA ing my 3rd board back to MFG asking for trade up or credit toward other board, I have had 15 asus boards in last 10 years, currently have 2 other asus boards that work fine, so I dont know if its asus design of the 780i or the chip but something is not right.

Other Thoughts: be afraid be very afraid of this board, It will suck the life right out of you, and drain your wallet too, If you want excellent board go for the maximus formula and slap 1 or 2 4890s on it, just remeber to wipe the drool from your bottom lip.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Bios Overclocking options, Pin fin heatsinks and clear CMOS on back panel. Also ability to handle memory from 800-1033 Mhz.This motherboard was sent to me as a replacement for a Striker Extreme that I got from Newegg last year. The south bridge went out and so ASUS gave me an upgrade. Fired up right away... no problems. Solidly built with colored LEDS on the board to relay voltage levels for CPU, Memory, NB and SB.
IF You have the money, knowledge and time to build a quality system... This will work for you! I love Newegg and ASUS, YOU ROCK!!!

Cons: ALL the Bad reviews!!! NVIDIA north and south bridge are known to run hot on the NForce 700 series. So make sure you have good air cooling! You can plan for some minor problems if you don't have the experience or do not take the time to research your build project.
Intel chipsets tend to perform a little better in benchmarks and for gaming systems.

Other Thoughts: After reading all the bad reviews here and other places...I got worried and prepared for the worst. I think ALL these bad reviews are from people that are not willing to do the homework!
I have not experienced any of the reported problems.

4 out of 5 eggsgood board lots of bling

Pros: the on board 8 channel sound is nice, lots of lights, a clear cmos button outside the board, the post lcd display, dual Ethernet ports, flash bios from thumb drive in bios, 3way sli support

Cons: too many bios patches, most need the cmos cleared before the board will post afterwords , will only suppost 887mhz mem for 8 gigs, price

Other Thoughts: bought this and paired a 3 gig dual core with the plans on when quad cores get cheaper i'll swap out the dual and put a quad in the get a cheaper motherboard for the dual and put it in my living room

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent mother board

Pros: This is a great motherboard. Everything works ALMOST perfectly

Cons: The ALMOST refers to the USB connectors on the motherboad (the ones that would eventually connect up to the case), cannot hold a continuous connection. I am talking about syncing Ipods, etc. It works fine for using normal USB memory sticks to transfer data. This problem is easily solved by puchasing a cheap PCI x16 USB card and using it.

Other Thoughts: Almost Perrect.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid (I couldn't resist)

Pros: Still going strong after 1 year and a half. Great board. Now looking for a new one that allows for more video cards. Will move this one to secondary gaming system. Asus never seems to let me down; I've found disappointment with some other companies. This purchase let me enjoy an exceptional gaming experience on a budget.

Cons: I fear that I have yet to optimize my system's capability because I don't understand some of the OC and tweaks available (more of a me-con than a them-con).

Other Thoughts: This board really exemplified Asus's tendency to cram as many features into a product as possible. Because many features were unfamiliar to me, it took me a while to really get the best out of this board. RTM, kids. I was running a much lower settings for months, then found out that with a couple tweaks I could get much more out of my setup. I'm sure that's true for many motherboards, but the ease with which I was able to tweak was a pleasant surprise.
