1 out of 5 eggsWarranty Support like FRIDAYthe13

Pros: Great Motherboard, if you get a good working one.
Easy to install and setup.

Cons: After 1year my moba failed, it restarts badly.
ASUS RMA is not funny. To bad I can’t upload some pictures of the replacement mobo I got from ASUS. I think Joe the plumber is in charge with handling mobos from one unhappy costumer to the other...
INTEL or Gigabit are the same...?
I am done with ASUS.

Other Thoughts: Be AWARE of ASUS RMA. It will send you an DUSTED, DIRTY, REFURBISH MOTHERBOARD. My motherboard look better then what I got from ASUS...I think I want my defective motherboard back...I am going with Gigabit or INTEL

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsNot Up To Asus Standards

Pros: Nice feature set.

Cons: The board has stability and quality control issues it seems. I have had the MB for over a year now, and still have issues with random locks. I have replaced all the parts around the MB, except for the MB itself, to no avail. I run a dual boot machine with both Linux and Windows, I get random locks in both. Trying to deal with Asus customer support is beyond sad. I have not had enough issues with prior Asus MB's to have to contact them, so this is a first for me. A warranty, no matter how long, is only as good as the Support backing it up.

This is on top of the fact that the first several months the MB was released, bios updates were painfully slow and mostly ineffective at resolving original issues.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased mostly Asus boards for many years. I will not bore everyone with the details. In the end, this is the worst board for stability I have every purchased from Asus.

This board will not prevent me from buying another Asus MB, but I will keep in mind their Support and warranty are not really as good as they should be, especially for high end MB's.

If you are looking for a good board for stability and overclocking, I would recommend elsewhere. There are other Asus MB's, as well as Gigabyte, that will do a much better job, and some are cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Motherboard

Pros: Great Motherboard. Easy to install and setup. No real problems or issues. Flashed the BIOS immediately (saw earlier recommendations). Easy tool to use within the BIOS itself.

Cons: None. Well, maybe with one of the network adapters. I' connected to broadband through a router. Never had previous problems. Set up and used the Marvell Yukon adapter, at times it seemed to "lock up" for short periods. It would recover. Not a big issue, just a little frustarating. Swapped to the Realtek adapter and no problems at all. Been working smoothly for a couple weeks now..

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard. Wireless works great (set it up and tried, but like the faster direct connect).

2 out of 5 eggsDOA or at least breathing

Pros: Great features, solid board.

Cons: Mine has an issue, it states that it doesn't recognize CPU ( 9550) and claims it's over heating ( 92 C) but temp doesn't fluctuate. Board won't let me past BIOS, I can insert windows disk but nothing.

Other Thoughts: Questionable quality so far. Going to be contacting Cust Supp in a few days when I got the time. Then update review product again, should be more eggs for what I paid.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Warranty support

Pros: It's a fantastic board while it lasts. x48, DDR3, wifi built-in, etc.

Cons: 1 year, 1 week and 1 day after I bought this board, the wifi card failed completely. RMA service is a joke. I called immediately, and they said they would try to approve me for an Advance RMA and contact me with the answer.

After two weeks, I heard nothing. I called back and they said they had one ready and would test it and ship it in 24-48 hours. With no apology, they simply realized they had sent the forms for advanced RMA to the wrong address. When I finally got the replacement board it HAD NO WIFI CARD. WTH did they test? It sure wasn't the wifi card. The board was also scratched in several places, had several bent heatsink fins, and it was warped so bad near the rear I/O ports that it looked like someone sat on it.

For the second time, my replacement had been delayed by ASUS's mistake.

I'm still waiting for my second replacement board. The earliest it can arrive right now is 1 month and 4 days after my first call about this. Unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: ASUS sends "Warranty replacement" boards for RMAs, which translates to REFURBISHED products (but that's a dirty word to them...) and explains the condition of my first replacement.

The irony is that, by their own policy they wouldn't have accepted a board from me in that shape. They make it very clear there can be "no physical damage." Yet they send one to me like that? My original board looks a heck of a lot better than what they sent me to replace it!

I paid $370 for a top-of-the-line motherboard with a 3-year warranty from a good company. I deserve to have it work for more than a year. And when it fails, I'd better get a replacement in perfect working order within two weeks (is that too much to ask?).

If I get another POC board like the first one they sent me, I'm never buying ASUS again. It's a shame, because I USED to recommend them to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggsI heart this board

Pros: This board was part of my new build. My last board was an Intel Skt 478 with little to no frills. This board is pretty much the exact opposite.

The overclock-ability of this board is intense. I was able to OC my Q9400 2.66Ghz Quad Core processor to 3.0Ghz with minimal effort. It also jumped by 4GB kit (OCZ3P16004GK) from 1033 to 1425 easily, and with stability of course.

The 3 PCI Express slots are excellent, right now I'm just using one for my MSI 512MB 256-bit Radeon HD 4830 OC.

The on board WiFi is excellent, it picks up my router immediately and delivers excellent connectivity. I've never had a drop in signal and it's always been at "excellent".

Another great feature is the little extras you get with this board. They offer passive cooling if you want to use just a heatsink on your processor. They include little connectors to make it easier to connect the power button, front audio, USB, Firewire, etc...

Cons: The only complaint, and this is SO minor, is that I couldn't load my own boot image for start up. They have a feature where you can load a jpg bmp or gif image instead of the Ai Lifestyle logo. It wouldn't work for me, board still deserves 5 eggs though

Other Thoughts: My system:

Board: P5E3 Premium WiFi
CPU: Intel Quad Core 2.66 Ghz (Q9400)
Memory: 4GB Dual Channel kit (OCZ3P16004GK)
Video: MSI 512MB 256bit DDR3 Radeon HD 4830 OC edition
Optical: 22X Samsung DVD Burner
Audio, LAN, & WiFi on board

I recommend this board to anyone who wants something that's a little better than average, from an excellent company. I'm a first time overclocker and I found it easy to do and understand. This board is WELL worth the money.

Oh one last thing, the Asus EZ Flash Bios updater is fantastic.

5 out of 5 eggsBest x48 Board

Pros: x48 northbridge doesn't downclock 2 PCI-E 2.0 @16x Crossfire cards. Most intel mobo's have the P45 series. If the slots are rated differently your Crossfire will only be @8x.
Built in Wi-fi. (This is not something I wanted on the board but it is a great convenience; Win 7 picked it up on install with no drivers)

Cons: Need to BIOS update for newer processed. Not a huge deal but can be trouble. Quick and painless using USB with ASUS easy bios upgrade system.

Other Thoughts: This board is an amazing deal for what you get. The x48 northbridge coupled with 2 PCIE 2.0 @16X sets it aside from everything else. Two other Intel boards feature this setup but have known RAM clocking issues above 4 gigs. This board does it all and I have room to upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MoBo

Pros: Works great. The WiFi is a nice addition.

Cons: Had a little trouble with the BIOS not recognizing my Q9650 Quad Core when I first got it but after I installed Windows, a quick BIOS update through ASUS's update tool included with the motherboard fixed the problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: Fast, solid X48 chipset, good memory and video compatibility, power saver makes a pretty big difference, and Asus reliability. Not to mention lots of BIOS updates and ExpressGate. The former proves Asus is staying on top of their stuff.

Cons: The only issue I've had, and it's annoying one: when you install Windows Vista or 7 RC on AHCI on SATA, it takes forever to fully start the installer. I can't say whose fault that is. Maybe it's having trouble enumerating my hard drives/optical drives, but again, all are relatively new.

5 out of 5 eggsMOBO FOR HIPPIES

Pros: This Mobo is excellent in every way! Ive had some pretty buggy ones before but Asus really had their stuff tight when they got this motherboard off the production line. I absolutely LOVE the EPU-6 engine. It made the five egg mark possible. Just a quik summary of what that is; Changing your computer speeds to save power for your PSU and the environment. It's default settings are brilliant but like all things, you can change them. Also a good good job with the WiFi! It makes lan-parties that much more possible =P

Cons: When i very first put my system together for some reason my ram wasn't working quite well with it. I learned that my OCZ DDR3 Platinum needed .95v rather than the .8v that this thing pushes out. But it was a quick fix. Had this for mobo for about 6 months before i finally figured out the WiFi application =P Turns out I already had it working and just needed to install the antennae that came with it rather than the piece-o-junk one that i already had

Other Thoughts: Dunno why people keep saying the WiFi doesnt work. works just fine for me
