4 out of 5 eggsIt's great, but...

Pros: -The mobo is hybrid sli and geforce boost capable (only on vista, but has limited drivers).

-sata connectors are out of way of the pci 2.0 slot.
decent onboard graphics

-great memory standard

-amd (better for price) quad core support

-cheap

Cons: -when i got by first mobo, the pci 2.0 slot was broken. so i was kinda mad that i couldnt hook up my 9800 gx2... but, after rma, i got it runnin...

-asus support is horrible has no toll free #

Other Thoughts: -it does seem a bunch of people have doa probs on this mobo... its a bit of a risk

******IMPORTANT FOR VIDEO CARD USERS******
-to make ur card run, in bios, south bridge config. is where you make ur pci slot run in priority. if it doesn't work there... your mobo is broken...

5 out of 5 eggsStill a good board!

Pros: I wrote a review on 6/17/08 of this board and this is just a follow up. I am using the board in an HTPC in my living room. It is being used for Bluray, MKV files, music, games (Conan and Assassins Creed), and showing off pictures of my family. I had a tough time getting Bluray disks to work seamlessly and 1080p MKV files to play without losing sync. I had originally set it up with a EVGA 512-P2-N747-LR GeForce 8500 GT 512MB video card to run Hybrid SLI using the onboard HDMI out. Using drivers found at nVidia's website I got it to run ok most the time but playback and gaming was unstable. I decided recently to remove the second video card and viola it works fine now. Bluray and MKV playback is amazing!!!

Cons: Hybrid SLI needs drivers that work. Would love to be able to game at 1080p instead of 720p.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this board again. I have also moved to Vista Home Premium and am using Windows Media Center most the time except when playing a Bluray disk. Having then to open Cyberlink. All works great now and outputs 1080p video and PCM audio through HDMI to my Sony DA3300-ES.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's Just Ok

Pros: Small, HDMI.

Cons: I am unable to install Vista Ultimate x64 onto two Velociraptors running Raid 0. I have tried every driver I could find and multiple methods with no luck. I could get it installed on either drive running as standard SATA drives. I did have it running initially before the board died with two 36gb Raptors. I am running latest Bios so I don't know if this is just an issue with this board.

Other Thoughts: Board died after a month and it took a month to get the board back from ASUS. I had to call to remid them it had been a month since they received it.

My forst 3 egg review based on the board reliability and the SATA Raid issue.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't even work

Pros: None...it wouldn't even work!

Cons: I ordered this motherboard as well as other parts to make my own, and when I put it together with the rest of my computer, it wouldn't start. After taking it to get a diagnostic on it, I was told that it was the motherboard. The place I took it to warned me that Asus typically has a problem with their motherboards just randomly dying. But I decided to give it another shot and I returned it for another one. The same one. And my computer still wouldn't start. I wouldn't recommend this motherboard to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI

Pros: It's not 'just' your basic mATX board. Having an on-board GPU that's suitable to impress. with VGA, DVI and HDMI out (the latter two are alternates, selected by a jumper), good on-board audio (both analog and HDMI out) and gigabit Ethernet, the basics are covered. The chipset is versatile, and CPU choices are good.

Cons: 1066MHz RAM doesn't work as DDR2/1066 with Athlon X2s - but we all know that, by now.

Other Thoughts: If you prefer nVidia's chipsets to AMD's offerings, and are on a budget, give it a whirl!

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent HTPC mobo

Pros: Works great with Vista media center. HDMI works fine. (note: you have to physically change a jumper to enable HDMI - it is not enabled by default). Onboard audio and video are very good.

Cons: Asus Q-Fan only works with PWM fans (4 pin, pulse width modulation.) This limits your choices for quiet, aftermarket CPU coolers.

Other Thoughts: What's the difference between this board and the M3N78-VM?

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Support

Pros: It works. Newegg is always the best to deal with.

Cons: Asus support is horrible. No toll free number and keeps you on hold 30 minutes with no answer. HDMI does not work on board and Asus is no support. Has not responded to E-Mails either. Buyer beware you buy this and you are on your own.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo

Pros: Price vs performance it can't be beat for a quick setup PC, Asus quality throughout. Fast and easy, no glitches.
Have had zero issues thus far running XP Pro. Runs great using onboard sound and 8200 chipset (updated BIOS increased max to 512 shared)

Cons: As with other newer boards, would have liked another ide channel for my older drives

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition, currently using onboard sound and graphics (whilst i shop for the best bang vs buck to replace, or augment in the case of the hybrid sli both) 4gb adata ram (bundle deal with the phenom) all from newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsdoes not support Phenom 9850

Pros: This a good value motherboard and supports Phenom processors up to 95W

Cons: it only support 95W processors; meaning it will not handle to power hungry Phenom 9850

Other Thoughts: I ended up buying the ASUS M3N-HD HDMI, AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz, Kingston HyperX 4GB, ASUS Nvidia 9600 GT
