5 out of 5 eggs4 years

Pros: Amazing, lasted for 4 years as main gaming rig and is now a RAID/multimedia PC in a new comfy HTPC case. Love the mobo, dual LAN, tons of copper, expansion slots up the wazzooo.. It has a 560 and a Q9450 processor with 8gb ram in it and it can still run any game on high settings on the Big Screen.

It is 1 of 2 mobo brands I count on

Cons: None in 4 years of HEAVY HEAVY use. outlasted GPUs Power Supplies and HDD

3 out of 5 eggsIt's a good board, but not without issue

Pros: It works well, and has been stable for the 3 years I've owned it.

Cons: I had cooling issues, and ended up having to cut a hole in the side of my case to effectively blow air on the massive passive heatsink. Make sure you have GOOD case air circulation.

Other Thoughts: In the end, this board has performed well. I've had it for over 3 years. My biggest complaints stem from some odd video issues where my video cards won't recognize the monitors and I have to reboot. I thought it was the cards themselves, but have tried other cards, and it did the same thing. I wanted to replace the heatsink on the chipset, but since the SB is piped to the NB, and my two video cards cover the SB, that wasn't possible.

Currently, with a Zalman cooler, my cpu temps 30-40 depending on load, and my MB temps 30-40 as well. In the beginning, my MB temped 50+ and the passive heat sink was H.O.T. My xtra scythe fan blowing on it from the side door has nipped that issue quite well.

Overall, I would say this board has it's fair share of good and bad.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted15 months

Pros: When it worked properly my system purred and was cool. BC2 ran lickedy split! Recently things started going down hill, heat was the main problem. I'm talking hot! I thought the power supply was going bad (corsair 620w red-also discontinued) so I replaced it with a new corsair 750w pro series gold. I thought things were going smoothly until about half an hour into bf2, not bc2, i got a bsod i've never seen, "contact the manufacturer" or some such. Opened the case and burned my finger on the chipset heatsinks/ram. At this point, I'm going to say it's the mobo since there's a lot of reviews reporting problems about this board...add one more! Pretty much the last Asus product I ever buy. We gotta bring production back to the states, enough is enough already!

p5n72t premium dud
corsair 750w pro gold
q9650-with cooler master double fan cpu cooler.
8gb kingston hyper x ddr2 1066
gtx 260
win7 64

Cons: it's all made in China

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Place a fan near the heatsink assembly if your PC case does not have good airflow.

Regards
ASUS Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsBroken Board

Pros: None that I have experienced so far.

Cons: Board was shipped broken. ASUS tech support is MIA. The board fails to send a video signal regardless of any problem solving efforts. (3 new EVGA cards cannot all be bad.) Board was shipped with exposed packaging.

Other Thoughts: This board is simply worthless. DO NOT BUY IT! In fact given how poorly ASUS products have become, I recommend you do NOT buy any ASUS products at all. If you send them a broken board they will send you a used broken board in return. The cycle will never end. Eventually they will just ship you a board without a serial number and then refuse to accept it when you RMA it. ASUS tech support is a 100% fail.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry for this inconvenience. Our replacement motherboards that we send out are fully tested prior to sending out to customers. In your situation, we would like your feedback and find out why you received a defective board and also assist you in getting a working replacement. Please contact us at APS_support@asus.com and reference case number NE490475 for assistance in resolving your issues.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board when it works....

Pros: Beautiful design, 3 way sli, everything I needed as far as bios options go, doubles as a weapon due to the copper, positively excellent paper weight.

Cons: Positively excellent paper weight. Copper thieves. This board gave me problems from day one. First problem was the bios would not accept any changes I made within it, on reboot all changes would go back to default. I got around that problem and was relatively fine for a bit. But that changed. After a while my system would stop resuming from sleep mode, the video would not initialize during post nine times out of ten, and now it is dead. It powers on, fans receive power and I think it even boots, but there is no video output. All 3 PCIx slots seem to have stopped working and the sli chip on the board generates no heat whatsoever. I have tested all 3 slots with a gtx260, a 9800gt, and an x1300pro. Nothing. Tested with 8 seperate sticks of ddr2 ranging from 667 to 1066 in every slot. Nothing. Tested with an e8400, a PD 2.8, and a p4 3.4. Nothing. I applied for an RMA of this board and it has been 57 hours without a response yet.

Other Thoughts: I am a fan of asus, and especially newegg. If asus gets on the ball with this RMA, (they say after 48hrs without a response, the RMA gets priority) it won't leave such a bad taste in my mouth. When this board works it is as mighty as they come. Going backwards to a technologically inferior board is driving me crazy.... please don't fail me Asus...

5 out of 5 eggsGood Company

Pros: I have always purchased ASUS MB's with no problems. I am always satisfied with ASUS. Big thumbs up !

Cons: I am not the best tech guy in the world and hate the bios updates. Seems like by now they would have something more dumb dumb friendly for people like me were all you have to do is click update bios on the Asus website and be done with it. Yes, I admit I am lazy and don't like reading lol.

Other Thoughts: Asus - will always be #1 in my book for MB's. I will always use you folks !

1 out of 5 eggsI unfortunatly bought this piece of junk at full retail.

Pros: None its been broken since the day I got it.

Cons: Ever since I've owned this motherboard it has never worked right. It would constantly shut itself down and then I would have to reset. I spent thousands of dollars on components to build the ultimate computer and there was one bad apple that spoiled the whole thing. I thought that ASUS made quality parts so I bought all ASUS now I know I was wrong and I will NEVER buy ASUS again.

Other Thoughts: ASUS has the crappiest customer support ever don't expect them to exchange your motherboard for a different one that doesn't have problems. They won't do anything but RMA you another board that doesn't work and it will go on and on until you buy a different brand board.

UPDATE: I RMA'd the board and they sent me another one back that was broken. So now I have to pay $12.00 to ship another board that is broken back to ASUS. ASUS=Epic Fail. THE END.

3 out of 5 eggsDont buy the Open Box

Pros: The Motherboard was in the box!

Cons: Nothing else came with the open box version. No I/O cover, SLI bridge or audio card.

Other Thoughts: Getting a refund on the open box and ordered this one.
