4 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: I would have to say the best bang for your buck at this price level. The first board I got caught on fire the instant I turned it on, but the second board has had absolutely NO problems.

Everything is running smooth, fast, efficient. The EPU-4 engine is great as it considerably helps the environment etc. Also, the express gate get's running in about 3-4 seconds and works flawlessly.

Also great for enthusiasts that need a cheaper board on the market, as this overclocks tremendously well. Bios is very friendly as well, yet has the detail to do whatever it is you want.

Cons: First board caught fire. Could have one more PCI-E 2.0 x 16 slot.

3 out of 5 eggsNice board, bad with memory

Pros: It is a nice board with everything I needed on it. solid ASUS construction. Love the front panel connector block. The BIOS has a lot of options it in for everything you might need to set.

Cons: Putting in 4 sticks of memory (8GB total) at 1066 is very finicky. The memory had lots of errors using SPD. I had to work with OCZ support for a week to get to timings that worked. I ended up with one board working at full 1066 speed, but on the other I had to settle for 800 in order to get it to run with no errors.

One of the boards died after a month of use. RMA with newegg was painless, but still frustrating to have this computer down for a week after already having to spend a week getting the memory working.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo for a great price

Pros: Low price (got mine for 90 bucks), really good overclocker. Gives you immediate access to multiplier and FSB. Even tells you if your changes failed, if you screw something up and windows won't boot it says "Your overclocking failed press DEL to enter setup" so you can make your changes. So far I've been very happy with it. Lots of USB ports and SATA ports. Supports 4 sticks of RAM going all the way to 16gb!

Cons: Only 1 IDE port but they're pretty much phasing that out so that's ok I guess...The rear I/O panel was a ***** to install and looks kinda bad. It's just bare metal with the port details etched into it...I wanted like a decorative sticker for it or something :)

Other Thoughts: Great price, easy to overclock, lots of USB/SATA/RAM slots...all in all this board is awesome and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Running an E7200 (stock 2.53ghz) at 3.7ghz with 4gb of ram.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with non PCI-E 2.0 cards!

Pros: Small.

Cons: The 8600 series won't work on the P5Q series. Reading on another forum that talked about the board, someone else was having that problem. The board is lacking PCI-E 1.1 support. Though the board has PCI-E 2.0, which is suppose to be backwards compatible with 1.1; ASUS left it out..somehow. I was frustrated myself having a XFX 8600GT XXX 256mb card that works perfectly in other machines, but put it on a P5Q board...forget it. I was only able to determine that it was the board, and not the card by testing a ASUS 9600GT card on the board, which has PCI-E 2.0 support, that I borrowed. I was testing on P5Q Deluxe, but it the same chipset on the P5Q Pro.

So, the only thing to do is to ditch you 8600gt and get a newer card with PCI-E 2.0 support. I just ordered an ASUS 4850 from newegg last night. I know it sucks to shell out more money, if you don't have it, on a new video card when you know perfectly well that it works great. But, that the solution... I did for a moment get my 8600gt wor

Other Thoughts: *sigh*

5 out of 5 eggsQuick and easy

Pros: Quick and easy setup. The Q-connector really helps if you have poor eyesight or are fumble-fingered. Plenty of SATA and USB connectors.

Cons: Position of the main power connector does not lend itself to neat cable routing, but not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: They include another Q-connector for a USB port; I wish it had been for the audio header instead.

5 out of 5 eggsNice motherboard

Pros: Everything installed very easily. The motherboard is laid out well, and for a value mobo (like this one is), it's got a strong chipset, fast FSB, and some great features like ExpressGate.

Cons: It is a value motherboard, so you need to know what you're getting. For example, this only has 1 chassis fan header. Not a big deal to me, but might be to some.

Other Thoughts: For my purposes, this is all I needed. ExpressGate is pretty darn cool, too.

5 out of 5 eggsFree book included

Pros: ok, the free book is actually the user manual, seriously i took one look at it and though the board must be nuclear powered. took my pentium-d 830 without having to update bios. recognized the 2x2gig patriot 6400 5-5-5-12 i bought with it correctly without having to manually set the timings. loads of USB. well heck, all the specs speak for themselves, no need to list them all.

Cons: none really for me, see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: took a couple reboots for it to recognize that my video card drivers were installed and recognize all my USB devices; only thing I had to reinstall at the end were the divers for my Razer Barracuda sound card. overall very pleased.

perfect choice for someone like me who is on a tight upgrade budget, one piece at a time.

5 out of 5 eggsSecond ASUS

Pros: OC's my old e6300 well. Has a good layout. Runs Ubuntu 8.04.* Works with my mixed Corsair/Kingston 667mhz memory.

Cons: Just one PATA but that is expected now days.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as part of my upgrade of my none gaming computer. Haven't pushed the OC'ing too far but running at 2.17GHz from stock 1.86GHz with no increases and no problems. Will be upgrading the CPU and Mem later.
* Needed to install the network driver from the ASUS web page to get that working and it works but not with out some glitches.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard

Pros: It does everything I expected it to do and even more than I will ever use. It has a great bios and it is fairly easy to install if you have done one before. The directions were very good. It ran well on my first boot and the drivers setup without a hitch. It has a lot of bang for the bucks.

Cons: I didn't have any problems.

Other Thoughts: I only have Vista 32 bit and I wish had 64 bit, maybe in the future I will consider it.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Board seemed to have some nice features. Too bad I didn't get to use them.

Cons: Within 5 minutes of installing Win x64, the system froze. After many reboots and many freezes, I gave up on x64 and tried 32 bit XP, assuming that that was the problem since I've never used x64 before. 32 bit had the same problem. System randomly freezes for no apparent reason, even with a BIOS update. After doing some research online, I see that there are many people out there that have experienced this problem with the P5Q series of boards.

Other Thoughts: I opted to replace this board with a Gigabyte board, and have been trouble free since. I have trouble saying that this series of boards is not worth the money since it seems that others have had no problems, and I would like to assume that it's just my particular combination of hardware, which is Wolfdale E8500 and 4 sticks of 1GB Kingston 800 (PC2 6400).

This is my first build from scratch, and I like to think that I know what I'm doing, but maybe I missed something in the specs.
