5 out of 5 eggsAsus P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard

Pros: I bought this and a stick of RAM from the supported RAM list to revive an old system. I had a processor already and one stick of RAM that also works on this board and both sticks play well together. There's enough room for everything I have on the board. It was packaged well and delivered on time. BIOS features are adequate and it's been a pleasure to use. It's stable and dependable. Great price for my purposes also.

Cons: N/A

5 out of 5 eggsGood Board for upgrade or replacement.

Pros: Replace a Asus P5B-VM P965 chipset motherboard with bad capacitors with the P5KPL-AM motherboard. Windows XP booted up with no problems and installed new drivers from the CD. XP activation did not occur with the change of motherboard, so I'm happy!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Good replacment motherboard if you have a older PCI express motherboard that failed with bad capacitors. Performance the same or somewhat better than P965 chipset boards.

5 out of 5 eggsGood reliable inexpensive board

Pros: This board for the price is very reliable. I gave it 5 eggs based on reliability and recognizing that this board is very inexpensive.

Cons: No SPDIF connecter included. But, one can be purchased from ASUS.

Other Thoughts: This is not a over clocker orientated board. But, it can be over clocked. I have purchased more that 10 of these boards for myself and others. And, I have run nearly every Intel 775 CPU in them at one time or another. You won't be doing SLI or Crossfire with it. But, that is not what you do with $50 boards anyway. It will run PC8500 DDR2 memory. But, it needs to be manually configured in Setup. This is a great replacement board for ailing 775 systems and also a fine choice for any inexpensive computer project. Just be sure that you want to limit yourself to 775 processors.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Board for Great Price

Pros: Low price, Supports all lga775, uATX

Cons: Overclocking is a tad limited, but does what it's supposed too.

Other Thoughts: Too the guy who keeps complaining about green light on but can't start it you're on the wrong headers. Only has two ram slots, which isn't that big of a deal. Overall good product

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid like the plague!

Pros: Inexpensive replacement board.

Cons: Reliability issues judging from all the other reviews.

Other Thoughts: I purchased 2 of these motherboards 4 months ago. One was to replace a bad motherboard in a friend's computer and one was for an upgrade for my wife's computer. My friend's computer died last week and I determined that the Asus P5KPL-AM/PS had died after working fine for almost four months. I pulled out the brand new P5KPL-AM/PS I was saving for my wife's rebuild only to find it was DOA. Nice.

I'm not the most prolific builder out there by a far measure, but I do have about 50 builds over the period of 10 years, everything from Abit to Tyan and those in between. This was actually my first Asus build and I'm very disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: I like the board. Good for basic surfing. Using Windows Ulitmate Candidate. All drivers loaded from that distrubution, not from the enclosed cd.

Cons: Is limited to 2 memory strips. Using 2 GB sticks.

Other Thoughts: It was built some weeks ago. I think it required a power supply upgrade with the right number of pin on the power to board interface.

1 out of 5 eggsBad gamble

Pros: It was a great price at the time.

Cons: DOA. I tried everything I could think or read about and triple checked each component before coming to that conclusion.

Other Thoughts: I would have returned it for a refund or replacement if I had the time to work on it sooner. Basically I ate $30 on a bad board. I'll spend a little extra for something with a better track record

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but can't handle even a midl overclock.

Pros: Simple layout, works out the of box. Running at stock settings is no problem at all.

Cons: I know this board is not for overclocking, but it does have some overclocking features like changing the FSB, CPU Multi, and CPU voltage. You can also change the NB/SB voltages.

I paired this board with a E5200 which I know will do at least 3Ghz at the stock voltage. Setting the FSB to 300 and CPU Multi to 10 resulted in a successful post at 3Ghz, but it freezes as soon as windows loads. Increasing voltages did not help at all. I question if this board could handle a 1333Mhz FSB CPU and it definitely can't handle 1600Mhz FSB even after increasing the voltages. False marketing by Asus in my mind, insinuating that this board can go anywhere close to 1600Mhz FSB. It can't.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect a lot and you won't be dissapionted. In my mind this board is one step up from the cheapest socket 775 board in that it probably has more reliability and longevity, while having about the same featureset as a cheaper board.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine

Pros: easy install, runs perfectly, good price.

Cons: was a little slower than my last board, but is likely due to the form factor and budget chipset.
