5 out of 5 eggsAwe inspiring

Pros: I'm just now upgrading my video card and am in awe that this board is so stable, so reliable and so dam good! Five years old and still running as strong as when it arrived. I previously have had gigabyte mobo's and after this asus board I am reformed. Good job asus, you hooked me.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: It does not die, this thing can survive the wrath of the sun..

1 out of 5 eggsWorst MB ever had

Pros: Looks pretty

Cons: Does not post. Have had to attempt to post bios 76 times before it'd finally go for 1 day use. Once it starts up it runs solid but once you shut down good luck getting it to post bios again. Complete waste of money, worn down my other pieces of hardware from attempting to start, & complete nightmare.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Maybe a good motherboard if you can get it to work.

Cons: I've had a very frustrating experience with this motherboard. This was my first build and I wanted a top of the line processor. I ended up going with the AMD Phenom II X6 1090 T.
From day one I had problems with the motherboard. It would freeze at random spots. After a few months it would no longer post. I contacted ASUS and they sent me a new motherboard (I had to pay to send the old one to them). It arrived with the same problems. I called ASUS a 2nd time and they said that it was because the BIOS were not up to date. Once again they would require me to pay to send it back to them and they would update the BIOS. Or I could borrow a cpu that was compatible and try to update the BIos myself. I borrowed a Anthlon II X2 that was about 2 years old....That one was too new for the BIOS. I tried to see if I could send it back to ASUS and get a newer motherboard, they would not accept that as an option.

This has been very frustrating and I would not buy this motherboard again.

Other Thoughts: I hate when companies don't stand by their products and give you the best service/product possible.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Please contact us at stating all parts used and we will look into this for you.

5 out of 5 eggsSay no to triple channel memory!

Pros: Looks great. Works great.

Cons: Will not take 3 sticks of RAM (Triple Channel Architecture) despite triple channel memory appearing on the QVL (qualified vendors list)!!

Other Thoughts: Spent a month messing around with this board until I finally figured out what was wrong. When I bought the board I first checked the QVL and selected from it the decided 6GB GSkill RAM. What made this so brutal to troubleshoot was the fact that the board will post without issue and operate sometimes for an entire day before going unstable (BSOD). Then, one day, I decided to read the freaking manual and discover that AMD AM3 is Dual Channel ONLY (i.e. RAM in pairs). I know, I know, some of you out there are rolling your eyes, but whatever. Nonetheless, I pulled out the one stick of RAM and Voila! Stability was mine! Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment to share with others so you don't go through the same thing I did. It is odd that the QVL would list the GSkill 6GB RAM, but in the end it was probably my fault for not fully researching my hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: Runs well, chipset and NB/SB are cool. Overclocks well and has plenty of detailed settings with very granular adjustments, but this is what I have come to expect from every Asus product.

Cons: I meant to buy an 890FX board and got this one by mistake. Not a huge deal, but I had to do a firmware update out of the box for the board to "officially" support my Athlon II 1090T, but it still booted and ran stable with all six cores showing prior to doing so.

No USB 3 or SATA3.

Other Thoughts: Applying the firmware update made a big difference in OC stability and many missing features magically showed up.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has almost everything you could ever want on the board. Has a cool little preboot screen where you can access skype, web browser and some games without even logging into your operating system. Has a power button on the motherboard for easily configuring.

Cons: Like others have said the pci slots are close together so if you have a high end graphics card you might lose a pci slot depending how big it is.

Other Thoughts: comes with a firewire/usb adapter which I thought was pretty handy. and all necessary cables you need. As always ASUS impress's :D

4 out of 5 eggsAt least it works

Pros: Their website for downloading drivers isn't fun, but they do have ways to update your bios. I upgraded my bios to an edition to unlock the fourth core for most AMD triple core processors. It works, and now everything runs smoother without me having to go deep into bios and changing settings that don't make sense to me. The copper tubes and stuff make the board designers seem pretty bright, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions.

Cons: Too expensive. The soundport for this thing broke today, and MY TWO YEAR WARRANTY ENDED SIX DAYS AGO. THANKS ASUS. GREAT JOB.

Other Thoughts: Probably won't buy another ASUS motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsIts a GREAT Board

Pros: I like the speed and stabilty of this board. It's an easy build, I've installed a good size PSU (750W or bigger) and have lots of cooling. Coupled with an EVGA Fermi 465 video card and crucial memory off of the certified list

Cons: I find it strange that you have to activate the cores on a multi-core cpu the first time you start up. But no big deal just never saw that before.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand the lower scores, I have built two machinces using this board and they went together seemlessly and work wonderfully. You have to observe proper groundingl and get certified memory (I don't get the fastest available - stay just above the mid point in speed). A good PSU is also key and may be part of some of the issues other have.
