Asus has long had a notable reputation within the overclocking community and their P6T Deluxe motherboard continues the trend. Based on Intel's X58 Express and ICH10R chipsets, this ATX board is ready to host the newest LGA1366 Core i7 processors for ultimate powerful performance.
Up to 24GB of DDR3 1333 RAM can be installed with triple channel mode for increased performance. Get even more performance – up to 2000Mhz – through overclocking. Three (count 'em: three!) PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards can be mounted for cutting-edge graphic power with support for either NVIDIA SLI or ATI CrossFireX. 100% all high-quality conductive polymer capacitors give longer life and higher energy efficiency by supplying power to vital components independently.
Get eight channels of HD sound from the ADI AD2000B audio chipset for pure, clear audio. Connect up to six SATA drives at 3Gb/s for high-speed data transfers as well as the option for multiple RAID configurations. Integrated dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN allows bottleneck-free connections to other network devices at broadband speeds and eight USB 2.0 ports allows for nearly unlimited possibilities in connecting peripheral devices.

ASUS ACPI
- Pros: To those of you worried about the shutdown problem. It's not a problem with the board, it's a problem with the software ASUS budles on the driver disc. If you can avoid it, *do not install ASUS ACPI* However, if it's already on, do a little research as to how to get rid of it, I did and now my computer works beautifully. You'll see the program in task manager -- it causes the computer to hang on shutdown when using Vista. Hope this helps.
- Cons: Well, I wish ASUS would stop putting that ACPI on thier driver disc. If you can, DO NOT USE THE DRIVER DISC, go to their website and download the chipset driver manually.
- Other Thoughts: Cheers
Don't be fooled
- Pros: It is the same as the fantastic P6T Deluxe V1 by Asus minus one small detail.
- Cons: The V2 is 10 dollars cheaper than the V1 as it lacks the SAS controller.
Spring is here and Asus continues to use a Fall color scheme.
- Other Thoughts: Went out and purchased from my trusty computer store down the street.
Analyzed it and determined very little difference between this and the V1 apart from the SAS Controller.
If you don't ever plan on buying 15,000 RPM SAS drives and want to shave some money, then this board is for you.
Apart from that, it seems to be that the manufacturers in these troubled economic times are starting to shave away at the "luxury" that most X58 boards have and starting to give the bare essentials at a lower price point.

Another DOA damaged board!
- Pros: Looks Nice, SPecs look good.
- Cons: I saw all the negs 14% (1 eggs) when I bought this board, but have been buying and building asus machines for years, so I discounted them. DO NOT DISCOUNT THE NEG REVIEWS THEY ARE REAL! Asus really does have a problem with this boards mfg or newegg is selling damaged product. Mine was also DOA no POST. I have been building pc's for 30 years, when newegg denied my rma for improper installation of the cpu I was floored, they claimed I bent the pins, if the pins were bent it was done prior to me receiving it (see others that have had same issue).
- Other Thoughts: I have been buying from newegg for years and never had to rma anything, this problematic board is my first rma experience and has left a bad taste for newegg rma process.
They assume I did something inappropriate to the board, not that it arrived badly damaged.
Asus quality, solid board
- Pros: Well packaged, well designed, well contructed MB with many many options. Asus e power shuts the machine down when not in use, very effective at cuttting energy bill. Overclocking came naturally to this board, hits 4ghz with 1600 xmp corsair without breaking a sweat.
- Cons: Too complex, read below.
- Other Thoughts: Some very odd occurences happened to me. I installed everything, corsair 1600c8, core i7 920, corsair 850tx, sapphire 5850, WD 1tb black, and began having USB problems. Devices would intermittantly shut off, hardlocking the OS or vice versa. One day, the system shut down and would not turn on, seemed like DOA. Took everything out, and ran on a table, everthing worked! Trust me when I say I checked everything, and am absolutely puzzled by this one time DOA stunt. Works perfectly now, no USB problems like before. I say maybe the motherboard is just too complicated with far to many traces for Asus QA to track. time will tell.
Beware: Dead DIMM slots
- Pros: This board is a well rounded and pretty good contender for the I7 series of processors. It has alot of features I like. If I did not have the issues I am having with it, I would have given it 5/5 Eggs.
- Cons: I bought an open box version of this board for a deal from Newegg. I put it in with a I7 920 (using packaged Intel cooler) and 6 gig of OCZ gold ram (3x2gb). Just did a fresh install of Win 7. After getting it all up and running I checked my system specs and noticed that it was only reading 4 of the 6 gig of ram. After swapping around ram modules I found out that, that board had 2 dead DIMM slots (A1&B1). I checked for bent pins on the CPU socket and reseated the CPU with no luck. Slots were still dead.
I then returned that board and purchased a brand new P6T Deluxe V2 from Newegg to replace it. I just got the board today and just got it up and running. I have now moved the ram around to check all of the slots functionality. It appears that the A2,B2, and C2 slots are all dead. So I can run 6gb of ram but only in the A1.B1, and C1 slots. I was expecting that spending a decent amount on a MOBO from a reputable company would have allowed me to avoid issues but I guess not.
- Other Thoughts: After having done alot of research online about this problem, it seems to be rather prevalent with this board. Some people have bent socket pins for the CPU in the RAM controller area and can fix it. Others have said that putting a large CPU heat sink on can break a PCB connection going from the CPU to the DIMM slots. I am using the standard Intel cooler, and have checked the CPU pins on both boards and neither were my problem. I dont know what the issue is.
I am now trying to decide what to do with this board. Either just bite the bullet and run with only 3 good DIMM slots (which would drastically limit my upgrading ability, and be a shame for a board in this price range) or RMA it and spend another week or more w/o a desktop and get nickel and dimed about 30x on shipping to finally get a good board.
