ASUS ACPI
- Pros: To those of you worried about the shutdown problem. It's not a problem with the board, it's a problem with the software ASUS budles on the driver disc. If you can avoid it, *do not install ASUS ACPI* However, if it's already on, do a little research as to how to get rid of it, I did and now my computer works beautifully. You'll see the program in task manager -- it causes the computer to hang on shutdown when using Vista. Hope this helps.
- Cons: Well, I wish ASUS would stop putting that ACPI on thier driver disc. If you can, DO NOT USE THE DRIVER DISC, go to their website and download the chipset driver manually.

Don't be fooled
- Pros: It is the same as the fantastic P6T Deluxe V1 by Asus minus one small detail.
- Cons: The V2 is 10 dollars cheaper than the V1 as it lacks the SAS controller.
Spring is here and Asus continues to use a Fall color scheme.
- Other Thoughts: Went out and purchased from my trusty computer store down the street.
Analyzed it and determined very little difference between this and the V1 apart from the SAS Controller.
If you don't ever plan on buying 15,000 RPM SAS drives and want to shave some money, then this board is for you.
Apart from that, it seems to be that the manufacturers in these troubled economic times are starting to shave away at the "luxury" that most X58 boards have and starting to give the bare essentials at a lower price point.

- Pros: Great Mobo. Quick setup. Easy access to pretty much everything. A lot of SATA ports. Just an overall great board.
- Cons: Bios/software/firmware, etc not totally set up to work with Windows 7 64-bit, yet. Still no problems, but had to download some stuff to be able to use the software suite that came with the mobo.

Dead ram slots solution
- Pros: Solution to below problem:
"After getting it all up and running I checked my system specs and noticed that it was only reading 4 of the 6 gig of ram. After swapping around ram modules I found out that, that board had 2 dead DIMM slots (A1&B1). I checked for bent pins on the CPU socket and reseated the CPU with no luck. Slots were still dead."

- Other Thoughts: The RAM is over / under clocked too much.
I tried several times to clock my 6 gig of 1600Mhz ram as high as it would go. If I got a little over 1805, I noted I only had 4gigs. While fiddeling around to find the "sweet spot" I mis-calculated and got under 1600 and again had 4gigs.

For those with i7-920, clock the CPU to 3.0 Ghz and then clock the ram to 100 to 200 Mhz faster than rated (bios shows speed selected - no math)

I feel lucky
- Pros: This MoBo is a monster. I have had the system running for 6 months at 3.0Ghz with a 920 proc 24/7 (I have a weather station attached and posting to the net).
Kingston 1600 running at 1805Mhz. No issues at all compared to all the other neg reviews I read.

Highly recommended MoBo.
- Cons: I run the X-Fi PCI-e x4 sound card with the setup.
I would like to install the optional chipset fan, but the X-FI card leaves no room. I would guess any PCI-e x4 card would be in the way.
