5 out of 5 eggsTrue SLi 16x16

Pros: ive had this mobo for around a year now, and its been a good, stable mobo, with a lot of support by asus.

normal SLi runs @ 16x16.

has lot of oc options. i was able to oc my Phenom 8750 BE 2.4 Ghz to 3.15 Ghz/3 Ghz stable (prime95 stable), without even changing voltages.

would recommend if youre ok with limiting yourself to DDR2 memory.

Cons: even tho mobo supports AM3 cpu's, it only supports DDR2 memory. tho asus is not the only mfg that blatently advertises AM3 support on AM2+ mobo's, i feel its a lil deceived by the big 'AM3 Support' logo on the box.

once upgrading to Phenom II 955 BE 3.2 Ghz, i fell into a world of grief oc'ing. i could get a stable oc @ 3.8 Ghz at 5.5v, tho this caused EXCESSIVE heat. after numerous bios flashes, most beneficial bios was v0906. w/this, i got a great, stable oc of 3.6 Ghz at 3.75v. i wonder if i may have acheived a higher oc with a real AM3 board.

also, when running tri-SLi, PCIe runs at 16x8x8. tho when running normal SLi, and using third PCIe card for dedicated physics, you still run at 16x8x8, which urks me, tho i havent seen any noticiably big performance hits due to this.

finally, the six input/output sound channels are predetermined. you cant change them with the realtek HD audio manager, for some reason...manual says you can...hmmm.

Other Thoughts: to answer the person from the last review...yes, normal SLi runs at 16x16. i have two GTX 260's, and this board rocks them. i have 4 monitors tho, 2 desktop monitors, one 1080p (living room) and one 1080p (bed room). monitors have to be set up in the exact right order, or youll get bsod's when SLi'ing out the wazoo.

overall, its a great board...expecially for the price. Im giving it 5 eggs, because even with a few quirks, for the price, its still an excellant mobo, even after all the stress i put it thru ;)

1 out of 5 eggsDead in 4 Hours

Pros: The OC tools would have been nice, If I could have used them.

Cons: -First of all, the I/O panel they include does not fit the board correctly. The springs on the I/O panel stick into the lan port! I bent them back, but otherwise the panel did not fit well at all.
-The front panel USB did not work from the get-go. Yes, I plugged it in to all three ports on the motherboard. No luck.
-The north-bridge heat sink on this motherboard is enormous. Good luck getting your giant proc. heat sink to fit on this board.
- After everything was up and running, and all the temps checked out, this board decided to quit. No beep-code, no error message, just death. Right in the middle of a competitive match, mind you.

Other Thoughts: As I have seen in other reviews for this board, my board also did not come with the stickers covering it, and the bag for the motherboard was not sealed. (If it is meant to be). It seems to also have been shipped from the "RMA warehouse"... is that normal? This board is junk, and I'm not too impressed with Newegg for selling these terrible boards. oh well, RMAing this piece of junk.

5 out of 5 eggsm4n82

Pros: This board absolutely rocks, plenty of o.c options if you are into that, i dont but i still like knowing it is there. purchased with a 955 be and this system flies.

Cons: setup from the asus disc was not so good, also, to get the e-sata working was a pita, was going to re-install win7 anyway, so did some searching and found out you need to turn on ahci in bios before you install windows, otherwise it locks the system up. this should be in the manual, enabled ahci, re-installed 7 and voila. asus needs to rethink the manual and make sure to explain what the various features are in greater detail.

Other Thoughts: bought this to replace an m2n-e that must have been bad from the start because mobo temps on that board were always very high, this board runs at about 78 degrees f in an antec 900 case with phenom II 955be- 8gb ballistix tracer- gtx260- have always found asus boards to be great mobo's, this one is no exception.
