1 out of 5 eggsWhat a waste of money

Pros: High cost = high hopes

Cons: Acted up right out of the box, but seemed o.k. due to how complicated the BIOS were. Lasted from 10-15-2009 until 10-10-2013 and then went up in a PUFF OF SMOKE. Appears to have shorted capacitor -- trash man says thanks, but no thanks.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: I like everything about this motherboard. The memory banks are placed nice for what I'm using, so far there is plenty of room for two cooling fans I have used. I was able to use two video cards bridged together with no issues what so ever. I've owned this motherboard for going on 3+ years now and it is still performing rock-solid!

Cons: After going on for 3+ years using this motherboard, the CPU_DIAG light came on. Soon after, I couldn't get it to load at all - not even to BIOS. Because this product has been discontinued and because I owned it for three years, I figured there would be no point in completing a RMA.

I purchased a used processor to see for sure if it was the motherboard. Sure enough, the CPU_DIAG light came back on using the other processor. So I am having to return the processor, get refunded for that plus I trashed the original motherboard. I ended up buying this same motherboard on another website. I couldn't really afford building a whole new system - so I went the alternative route.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Motherboard

Pros: I don't know as the MB only booted to bios and would not allow me to load Win 7 Prof
It is supposed to be a good board but I can't say at this time.Issue is with no product support from Newegg. First time so I was surprised.

Cons: The MB was defective upon receipt. It is odd but I sent it back to Newegg after extensive testing recommended by ASUS and Newegg said that the socket pins were likely bent during installation ugh. So no product support or warranty. Out $299. I contacted ASUS and for $120 extra and shipping they will fix the board...I hope. While I am pretty dissatisfied with Newegg's response, I begrudgingly understand it. ASUS is super! They were very cordial and helpful.MB is in the mail and time will tell.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking great, just wish ASUS would come out with an EFI BIOS

Pros: I wrote a review about this motherboard before stating that I had some issues with it, but I actually found out that it wasn't the motherboard, but the video card. Overall, I'd say I've been satisfied with this motherboard, given the technology that was out then.

Cons: Maybe not really a con, but I do wish it had a legacy PCI slot so that I could have continued to use my SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Ex, but I see that ASUS is trying to move forward. Also, wish it has USB 3.0 support... not that I have any devices for it yet, but it would be nice. Also, really wish it had an EFI BIOS. Also, seems like ASUS has stopped supporting this product and hasn't updated the drivers or BIOS for this on their site.

1 out of 5 eggsWhere is ASUS Tech Support

Pros: Great MB when it works

Cons: MB has issues. Locks up a lot. When I posted a review earlier a ASUS **CL-Benson posted a reply conveying the appearance that ASUS was there and ready to help. So I replied to ASUS and after 24 hours still no response from ASUS. Why post the appearance of assistance and then fail to respond? Another disappointment from ASUS.

Other Thoughts: ASUS tech support is mostly about self help web resources and not much in the department of skilled service techs that can actually help you resolve any issues on the phone.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We've replied to you on 6/27/2012.

To answer your questions:

We cannot process refunds because the motherboard was not purchased through us. We can only repair or replace the unit.

The problem with having BIOS not saving your settings may be due to dead battery but since battery was already replaced, we blieve it might be be the BIOS chip. We recommended to RMA the motherboard so that we can verify the BIOS chip integrity and replace if necessary.

Since no memory spec was provided and memory slots were tested, we asked to have memory tested with Memtest (http://www.memtest.org) to make sure that it does not contain errors and to run at least 7 passes. Please also set memory settings according to manufactuer spec if it is not detected automatically.

We also suggested to update BIOS to latest version 1001 dated 3/17/2012.

Regards,
Benson

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Fast board. Lots of resources.

Cons: Never runs. ASUS tech support is non extant. MB has has bugs since day one and there is no help. Whats the point if the board constantly halts and can't be fixed. Avoid this MB.

Other Thoughts: Too bad ASUS has cut their tech support. Don't bother calling.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize that for the issues you had with this motherboard.

Please contact me with the specific problems so that we can better support you. Be sure to include software / hardware parts and specs. If the board froze, please state where does it freeze? During POST, in Windows, or somewhere else? Were there bugs in UEFI, our software/utilities/drivers/Windows?

To continue support, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-1953 with case # / RMA #, and system parts and specs.

Benson

1 out of 5 eggsLike so Many Others

Pros: Great specs on paper...now let the cons begin:

Never have I had so much trouble with a board and customer support. I had this board for about a month and half, enough time for the newegg return policy to no longer be vaild. Then the board started going to fail.

Cons: After being able to get to a windows login screen I started getting the BSOD instantly. I was able to determine that one of my RAM slots had gone bad. The about a 2-3 days later another slot went bad.

I contacted ASUS support and after numerous days (I cant even remember how long it took) I heard a response. I then received an email telling me how to go about RMA my board. After spending this much money on a board I now had to pay to ship it back to them and go without having a computer for 10 days. Needless to say I have to use this computer everyday for school and work and cant afford to have it gone for a + week worth of time. In addition, after reading previous reviews about people getting refurbished boards I really dont want to end up going from a semi-working board to fried CPU bc of a "fixed" board. I simply didnt RMA my board and now looking to buy a different one. I just dont understand how ASUS can't just send people a new (working) board.

Other Thoughts: What a waste of 400 dollars

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Please contact us at Newegg_ASUS_MBSupport@asus.com stating all parts used and we will look into this for you.

1 out of 5 eggsHuge mistake

Pros: None

Cons: First board was DOA, system failed to POST. RMA'd and received second board today. Replacement board failed to POST. At this point I've been waiting 3 weeks to even get my system up and running. I have to spend another week and 15 bucks shipping this back for another replacement?

Expected a lot more from ASUS and a $400 mobo. Really learned my lesson with buying replacement only components. At least newegg RMA process is easy to work with.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
