2 out of 5 eggsDead after a year...

Pros: Umm it's pretty decent, the layout of the board is overall pretty good, RAM is a bit too close to PCIEX16_1 for my liking and it's kind of annoying how the SATA plugs are set up.

Cons: Bought this on 7/23/2010 and last night during a game on League of Legends my computer crashed and wouldn't boot back up right, tested with memtest and with swaping out ram sticks, only 3 of my 4 sticks were showing up, my DIMM_B2 slot decided to die. Tried different configurations of RAM but it is being wonky, would sometimes boot into Windows or Ubuntu before but won't at all now, I get a display error which makes me think maybe the PCIE went bad at the same time or my video card decides to die... it is also ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT BOARD RUNS FASST

Pros: I bought this with the intent to resell it in a system build, but after the effortless speedy install and setup with Win 7 i have kept it and never been happier.

Cons: Stock cooler is a bit LITTLE and cheesy, if your going to overclock get a V8 for proper cooling.

Other Thoughts: P7P55D Deluxe, I7 860 & V8 Cooler, 4GB Crucial 1600 Balistic Tracer, Crucial 64GB SSD 300, ATI 4870 X2 - 2GB, ASUS Blu-Ray DVD-rom, great results with this setup, plays all FPS games with ease.

1 out of 5 eggsCPU LED

Pros: Very pretty lighting effects for the 1.5 seconds it stays on.

Cons: Does not POST. At power on, fans spin and lights come on, including the CPU warning LED, then it powers off within a couple of seconds. It will then cycle on and off indefinitely until I pull the plug.

Sleazy Newegg "limited replacement" return policy.

Other Thoughts: I've never had a problem with Newegg before, but I'm afraid this "limited replacement" policy just became a complete deal-breaker for me.

I bought this motherboard as the basis for a new machine for my parents for Christmas, along with a number of other parts.

If it were not for the "limited replacement" policy, I could go out and buy a replacement at a local retailer, send this defective board in for a refund, and have my parents' machine up and running tomorrow. I'd be happy, my parents would be happy, and I'd be making many future Newegg purchases.

Instead, I'm going to have to exchange it via UPS, and by the time the replacement arrives, I'll be back home, and won't be able to finish the build until I'm back in town.

This will of course be way too late to file rebates on other components, so I'll be out another $30 or so that I wasn't expecting.

I'm remembering why I was always nervous about shopping online in the first place. I think Newegg just lost me as a cus

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: This is a great motherboard. It was very easy to set up, the connections are in good locations. The extra connections for the small wires from the computer case to the MB made that part of the set up very easy. I also like ASUS Probe software for monitoring the computer. My set up includes ECS NGT240-1GQR-F GeForce GT 240 Video Card, XCLIO Great Power X14S4P4 600W Power Supply, Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz Processor, Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB SATA 3 Hard Drive, WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 Hard Drive, G.SKILL ECO series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 Memory, and ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler, with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit.
Computer is smooth, fast and quiet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I love the computer.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: I've got this board through newegg, and have never had any problems with it. The layout is very nice, looks clean and high quality.

Cons: However, my friend got one too, and his board has encountered some problems with the ram, it seems like the two slots near the cpu won't work properly, and the the other two would work, but with some lags too. For example, when he opens a small program, there is often a lag of 10 to 20 seconds where the computer just simply freezes.
I didn't have any of these issues, so im not gonna mark done an egg for it, it is just something that you might want to know about.

Other Thoughts: I think all the p55 boards have problems with the memory..not just asus

2 out of 5 eggsasus

Pros: Really nice looking board and has many cool features,my first ASUS Motherboard as always read they where the best but this board not one of them, think I will move on to another manufacture

Cons: this board will not recognize more than two sticks of ram, and this seem be a on going issue that asus knows about,if I place 4 sticks of the same brand/type into all four slots the system will freeze up and will have to reboot, ram work perfect just the motherboard does not like more than two sticks of ram

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked great. I liked having two Ethernet wires working together.

Cons: For about 3 months! First my graphics card stopped working, A new 260 GTX So I put my old 8800 GTS in it & that kept it running for another 2 of the 3 months that it worked. But My 260 GTX card is Good it's the motherboard wouldn't tell my TV to come on though the HDMI wire. I up dated the bios to the newest bios release. Then not long after that but not because of the bios update I noticed my dual LAN was only running off One Then it quit all together Saying bad wire or wire not connected. Then it said the express gate stopped working & started taking around 15 minutes to boot. Now the picture constantly roles.

Other Thoughts: I had the core i5 quad core bumped up to 3.05 GHz Water cooled. Ripjaws Series Dual Channel DDR3 1600 7-8-7-24-2N @ 1.6 V. 260 GTX With windows 7 64 Bit. Maybe I'll flash the bios with something a little older & see what happens.
For now I've put my 260 GTX card in my old computer With my old lan wires Actually they're new & everything works just fine. Like I said this motherboard only lasted 3 months

5 out of 5 eggsGood Baord

Pros: Stable, good for overclocking (though it's hard with an un-airconditioned house right now). NEVER had a crash whether I'm set to stock or OC'ed. I have seen this board overclock to 4.0 ghz stably (w/ i5-750). Audio is better than my old ECS as well but...

Cons: ... my mic port died. Im sure it was an isolated incident (could have something to do with the 14 speakers chained into the onboard sound). USB3.0/Sata6 would have been nice. With that said...

Other Thoughts: ...at this point, if you are building a system that you plan on using and upgrading over the next 4-5 years then perhaps a different board would be a better fit. With the new Intel chipset coming out in less than 6 months the 1156 mobos will start to fade away. If you ware planning on a your build lasting 2-3 years this board will do a very good job.
