Works as expected
- Pros: Being the first PC I've put together, I was a bit intimidated when flipping on the power switch to a total investment of over a grand. Happy to say nothing went wrong. Powered up and worked. Documentation was well done to get it done right. The only issue was with the G.Skill ram, but the custom ram timing allowed me to optimize them
- Cons: Had to set up my G.Skill 1600 7-7-7-24 ram up manually. But no big deal. It saw all 8gig and just had to tune to since the Mobo saw it as 9-9-9.
- Other Thoughts: Everything works with no issues.
A superb P55 board.
- Pros: An extremely well designed and layed out board. The ports are exactly where I want them! Typically of Asus boards, it works flawlessly. I love the LEDs near devices showing boot process! This is a great board to run Lynnfield!
- Cons: Documentation for memory installation was an issue. The picture shows the sticks in the black slots, but the board wouldn't boot. The text however says use the blue slots and the board booted perfectly when they were placed there!
- Other Thoughts: This board and my 2.8 Ghz Lynnfield make for a very fast system. I love the rock solid design of Asus boards, and this one is performing flawlessly for 2 weeks now. Looking forward to many years of proud ownership!
Best MoBo so far for the budget!
- Pros: Layout is traditional for the quality of Asus: by avoiding RAM-module retention clips at the South end (under a larger gaphics card in first PCIx16 slot, or under a larger HeatSink-Fan atop the CPU, it could save a lot of finger-cutting and scraping... Love what you see is made for your benefit, dude...
Superb design and adaptation of the latest technology implemented with second generation of Intel P55-express / extreme chip - feasable with second generation of i7 & i5, designed for the rest of us.......
- Cons: Dark colors on PCB made me sad, but you don't care about me being sad, do you, dude?...
- Other Thoughts: I wish Asus adopted the EVGA policy of drilling holes for both HeatSink-Fans: LGA775 & current: Many of us paid good money for our Zalmans - etc... and regretfully they must go to trash... Evga's got a niche in this market just by knowing where to drill 4 extra hole...!
