5 out of 5 eggsExcellent budget biz system

Comments: We now have 36 of these in our business fleet. They're great. Unbeatable stability and pretty good performance. I used Antec TruePower330 or SL350 PSUs and Crucial PC2100 RAM. Don't cheap out on the PSU or RAM, and you'll be in for a smooth ride too.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality=Quality

Comments: This is a great board. But most of all you have to remember as with most things, but especially when it comes to computer building.....Quality=Quality. You have to use high quality parts to rock solid reliability. Thats starts with power supply. You can't use the cheapy that came with case, unless its a name brand. Still I find bundled PSU to be low in quality and reliability. I have used Enermax for years to power my custimers cases and none have failed me. The second most important is the RAM. Don't skimp on cheap just so you can get a higher quantity. Because its qaulity you want. Once I again I try to stay with Corsair, but have used Crucial and Kingston without any problems. Corsair is the best you can get when it comes to reliability and compatibility. Trust me, you won't regret it. Lastley do your homework and make sure the rest of the parts on your list are compatible. I have always found it best to keep the FSB on the motherboard and the RAM the same for the best stabilty.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Comments: Well I read all the reviews and I can't see what all the fuss is about. 99% of the problems come from inexperienced system builders. I just put one of these together, and yes with the supplied bios revision it wouldn't let me install Win98se, but all I had to do was flash the bios to Ver. 1007. Do your hopmework guys. Board performs as well as can be expected with integrated graphics(but c'mon this board is not for gaming). But rock solid stability. This is my 14th ASUS baord and I am a happy customer. Great board for the typical user, who needs a cheap all-in-one reliable board.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Have now built 7 economy business systems w/this board, XP1600+ to XP2100+, PC2100 Crucial and Corsair Value RAM, used on-board video & NIC & sound for all and have had very good results at a very good price. Same issues we all have with manuals written in "English as a Second Language", along with things out of sequence, and "oh by the way" instructions 4 layers deep. Not a gamers board.

5 out of 5 eggsThe good the bad and the aweful.

Comments: I have built systems so far using this motherboard. Just got RMA back from Asus since the newegg warranty has ran out. The new board work fine with Windows 98Se but halts on XP installating. I have change memory, disabled a host of stuff in the bios, and still no luck. I am thinking this is the last effort I'll ever put into this poor excuse for an Asus MB.

1 out of 5 eggsNo floppy recognized

Comments: I put this in a system for a friend. Won't recognize the floppy drive. After reading the previous posts, it is evident that this board has problems at about 30% of the time. Not an acceptable failure rate. I guess Asus has no effective quality control or doesn't care about selling defective products.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems - A great quality Board

Comments: Put the Computer together in less than 3 hours from Scratch. Bought a retail 2400+ xp Athalon and an A Open Case. The only issue I had was the Memory chips I had were not good. After installing a new chip it fired right up. Performance is great. I think that the manual could be a little clearer when it talks about processor speed. The BIOS does not lend itself for overclocking, I usually don't overclock anyway.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Comments: This was my first major upgrade to my computer and the process all went very smooth for me. Upgraded from a 300 MHZ to this motherboard with an amd 1.3 GHZ, 128 DDR, and windows xp. Was worried at first when installing the CPU that it wasn't fitting right and that I was going to damage it, but applying the extra force to clamp it in was all it needed and didn't harm it a bit. Plugged in the memory and the rest of my existing components and booted it up, no issues, working great for me.

On board graphics are very satisfying for my games. Can't get any of the latest games but those are expensive anyway. Plenty of games from 2002 or before that this thing can run no problem. Picked up Morrowind and it handles it no problems also play Sim City 3000 on it and can zoom in with full detail on closest zoom and move around no problems (if you move to fast it will show blocks where the graphics are until it has time to load them).

First time shopper with NewEgg but can bet this will be my first stop shop for all my future hardware needs.

4 out of 5 eggs4 out of 5 but not bad

Comments: I built this for a buddy of mine who needed something reliable for his daughter. I suggested ASUS for quality and reliability and I hope I didn't go wrong. I had 3 very unexpected failures while loading XP-Pro. I then flashed it with the latest BIOS and the 4th install went well. There was a minor but odd problem after that. It lost the video driver overnight. Worked fine the night before but had to be reloaded when I started it the next day and I still don't know what caused that to happen. I reinstalled the driver and let it burn at 100% for 4 days, switching from Sandra, Burn In Test Pro, and then to SETI with zero problems. It's been fine for about 3 months now and she's happy with it.
