5 out of 5 eggsawsome MB

Pros: everything

Cons: none found

Other Thoughts: I bought this MB because a friend recomended it to me for my first real PC build. well to say the least i am really really happy with it and looks really good in a coolermaster storm scout case. It moves with the speed of lightning and is totaly awsome looking when you look inside. I would recomend this MB to anyone that wants a good solid MB and great for anything needed to be done.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst semi bad review here ever....Bad Customer Service Asus

Pros: Great overclocker. Nice BIOS Options. Allot of nice features! Overclocks very cool. Love the fact you can do SLI or 3-way Crossfire if one so wanted. PCIe 2.0 Ports not too close allows airflow! Great board.... if you get a working sound card.... otherwise save some money you will have to buy one your self. Or use the HDMI on you Video cards.

Cons: This would have been a 5 egg review. Except the sound that came with this beautiful board had some fitting issues. It would not work correctly if seated in the PCIex1 slot correctly. You had to unscrew it from the PCIex1 slot and push it back for it to work. I thought it might be my $250 dollar Lian Li case causing the issue at first but nope.... it is the card. So I tried to call New Egg before my 30 days... they wanted me to send my whole MOB back just for that sound card. So I try Asus.... You know what they wanted the same thing. So basically you buy a $250 dollar MOB and for the manufacturers screw up you have to be punished. I have been dealing with top companies before. There was a company not too long ago who I bought from... that sent me a bad external OC PCB Panel with the Motherboard. They went out of their way to send the thing out too me asap. Why??? Because they cared enough about their name!

Other Thoughts: I am a little angry at New Egg but not too much. Mainly because I can't really expect them to open another Box just too fix my problem. But as far as Asus Goes.... I did expect a ton better from one of the leading manufacturers of Motherboards and video cards in the world. But maybe that is why they didn't care... because they figure they will have some other dumb sap that will take my place!
So what was my fix to this.. you might wonder... I bought my own sound card. Problem solved.... but I shouldn't of had too!

1 out of 5 eggsASUS has the worst Customer Support

Pros: N/A

Cons: ASUS might just have the WORST technical support and RMA department. Better pick up two since it will take them a month to process your RMA request!

4 out of 5 eggsSolid board so far

Pros: Looks awesome, has crazy overclock features, does everything i need it to.

Cons: Speeding HDD feature gave me trouble. Found out that without two identical drives, it's fairly useless. But when I get another SSD, I imagine my opinion on that will change. That was really all that made this board difficult, was figuring out why it wouldnt boot from my drive hooked up to the speeding HDD port.

Other Thoughts: Overall solid board. maybe a little pricey for the amount of specificity in its cool features.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat features if you get a good board.

Pros: Great set of features, good aesthetics

Cons: Poor quality control, poor layout of PCI-e in relation to PCI slots, X-Fi card conflicts with mounting screw in addition to only working in the top most PCI-e X1 slot.

Other Thoughts: I'm on my second board now and this one is worse than the first. The first board came with an exploded CMOS battery no big deal i just replaced it. I then started experiencing strange issues with my OS install and ran SFC finding that I had about an 11mb error log of corrupt files its a wonder this thing even booted, everything is brand new in the system and I've even swapped out the power supply, hard drive and ram just to make sure none of these were the culprit. 3 out of the 4 ram slots are apparently defective the two red slots result in immediate corruption, and using one black slot and a red slot results in only 4gb of ram while using another black slot and red slot results in 8gb but corruption again.

1 out of 5 eggsRAM problems

Pros: colors, layout, buttons

Cons: Sadly memory does not work in dual channel. So far two boards from newegg (same problem). I tried 5 different sets of ram. It does not post in dual channel. It WORKS in SINGLE channel. What is good for?

It takes ages for the board to post. Do people in Asus understand "quick boot" exression?

Other Thoughts: I succeeded in booting the mobo once in half dual channel mode. Out of 4GB RAM only 2GG are usable. That is really pathetic. If I wanted to have problems with a board I would get "el cheapo' board not a premium ROG board.

I bought Sandy Bridge with Asus P8P67 Pro - it works better than Maximus but still double boot BIOS syndrome.

When a company decides to skip on QC and changes OEM provider the quality is first to go. I understand Asus has to compete with other low priced companies but seeing ROG brand going down the drain is disheartening.

Please google "Asus MAximus Formula III 2GB usable" etc. or head to G.Skill formus, type in Maximus in a search box.

I own Asus P5Q Pro, Asus P5Q Deluxe and three more Asus boards that I am not using and never had such problems.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst round: DOA Second round: Success

Pros: Solid high quality build. Many features to make use of.

Cons: Came DOA. I thought it was the memory that was incompatible but it was just the board.

Other Thoughts: Was worried that i would have to buy new memory because this board seems to have many incompatibilities according to the internets. Works just fine after i sent in the DOA board at the cost of $12.50 and got the new one.

3 out of 5 eggsSlow Post

Pros: Nice Layout. Lots of features

Cons: Long dela from when board is powerd up to POST beep.
Using compatible DDR3 mamory but it takes way to long for memory to be recognized. 10 sec with 1 stick DRAM,15 Sec with 2 sticks and 23 seconds with all 4 sticks. Asus Tech support has responded, but nothing help. They even said hold MEMOK button during Mem checking. There is no MEMOK button on board. Must now be a "GO" button. That did not work. They finally gave up and said RMA the board. Will not do as I believe it is inherent in the board design.

Other Thoughts: Will ive with this annoying problem rather than take my system apart and put any more effort into hardware swapping/replacement. Very dissappointed though in this high end expensive motherboard.
