5 out of 5 eggsStill Running!

Pros: My parents bought this motherboard along with the rest of the PC years ago. Today it is super outdated, I chuckled to myself when I read the reviews from 2005. The motherboard got me through years of gaming, web browsing, ect.
Now the computer runs slowly and takes forever to do even simple tasks but I give it 5 starts for still working after years of abuse!

Cons: retro (not really a con)

5 out of 5 eggsASUS is the BEST

Comments: This was my first build, Dec 04. This board is fantastic. Literature is thorough and easy to follow. Quality is very good. My only suggestion to ASUS would be to make the leads on the included USB expansion plate 2 inches longer. I have the panel in the highest rear case opening for ease of use (also the case opening doesn't line up with any slots in the mobo)and the cables barely reach around my AGP video card. I HIGHLY recommend this mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Board

Comments: If you want to go with a AMD Athalon 64 and you need up to 6 PATA connections I would recomend this board. I had a lot of problems with my prior board (LanParty nft Ultra) because of the chipset (Nvidia) and figured that I would try Via and everything works fine. I have it hooked to my 2 HD's in raid 0. I had trouble with a SATA drive earlier in life and have thus far not tried it again, but its nice to know that this board has 4 of them and all are raid enabled. I have this board in the Thermaltake Aser III case and it has all the connections to all of the built in connectors located on the top of the case which is a plus. The only problem that I had with this was that the onboard lan does't work, Windows XP recognizes it but my router will not recognise that there is anything connected to it. I need my comp so I just bought a pci NIC and all is well. I could very easily send it back and get a new one. The only problem that I had on install was that I needed to copy the PATA RAID drivers over to a floppy before I installed the board, but it says to do just that in the manual. Overall a great board and I will be buying another for another upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsMust have correct sys mem and cpu

Comments: This motherboard rocks, it is stable and runs cool. You have to have the memory that Asus recommends or you will have nothing but problems. I have a gig of recommended memory and w/ sata drive loaded XP pro SP2 in 8 minutes, benchmarks without any tweaking at SiSandra standards and there is a lot of easy tweaking and OC options in bios, good board.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Hesitate

Comments: If you're looking for a Socket 754 Motherboard with onboard SATA, for gaming or standard use, LOOK NO FURTHER. This motherboard is outstanding. Super stable, quick, nice BIOS. The only negative to this motherboard is they don't provide the SATA drivers on a floppy for you, so you need another computer to copy them from the provided CD. But if you're not installing your OS to a SATA drive, you don't need to worry about it.
My System: (gaming rig)

ATI Radeon X800Pro
WD Raptor 74GB 10000RPM SATA
WD 80GB 8MB Cache IDE
Plextor 52x CD-RW
Pioneer 12x DVD-ROM
XP Pro

Super fast, super super stable. No crashes yet in over a year.

1 out of 5 eggs

Comments: This motherboard is nice, but has some serious problems. I've had to replace this motherboard once already, and now it's doing that System Fail CPU Test error. I've tested the PSU, CPU, RAM, video card, and so the only thing else there is to not be working right is the mobo. Like other reviews have said, if you google for the system fail cpu test you can see that many many people have had the same problem, with the only solution being to replace the motherboard. Very frustrating, was a pain to troubleshoot and it didn't even solve anything. This mobo sucks!

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I bought this board as a replacement...needed something with 4 sata was kind of weird hooking up the sata drives because the primary and secondary sata use the onboard drivers on the motherboard...(mbfasttrack) and the other two vertical sata inputs use the via driver from the motherboard cd...after i figured it out, i became a happy camper...i'm glad i got this board, but irrate at asus for not supplying the via raid driver on a floppy... but it's all good...for anyone having trouble with installing a sata hd or creating a raid array with this board, just follow directions when it starts to boot up... instal the mbfasttrack driver, then when it boots up again, hit tab to create the raid array...make sure the hd is on the primary sata connection...(sata connects on the bottom of board)...then of course do the regular instal...hope this was helpful to any noobs building a pc like me... =P
